I saw many reviews and the overall good ratings of Soap Bubble, so I gave it a shot. I stopped around 3:30PM on a Sunday and expected it to be fairly busy - which it was. But they had enough washing and drying machines that this was not an issue for a spontaneous stop. The staff were friendly and helpful when asked. The bathroom, seating area, folding stations, and machines were clean and in working order. Overall, I cannot complain! read more

Whaaaaat happened to this place? For the last ten years of living in the neighborhood, this has been the tried and true, best ever laundromat in existence. Elvis lamp, cute dogs, super nice people? Coin machine, places to sit, brightly lit, parking outside? What's not to like?? I had a day-ruiningly bad experience here this morning. Laundry gives me crazy anxiety. Don't ask me why. It simply does. It's stressful living in a city and on the 4th floor of a walk up and trying to finagle laundry and quarters and carrying things with spaghetti arms! I digress. Usually Soap Bubble is fabulous in helping my frantic anxiety ass when I can't get the card readers to work, or I need advice on which machine to use for whichever size load I have that day (generally gigantic). Today, the card reader on the washing machine wasn't working - this happens to me quite a bit. I tried two cards, swiping in several ways, and probably 15 times they said declined. I know these cards work- I've used them here on these machines a zillion times! The last time this happened to me, I went up to the counter, and the employee was so kind, per usual. They came over and swiped it with their magic touch, and it worked. They didn't make me feel bad at all. It seemed like a regular thing that happens to everybody! This morning I approached the attendant on duty, who I had not seen before. I let her know that my silly ass couldn't get the card reader to work, and asked for some help. She came over to the machine and WAS SO. BRUTALLY. MEAN. I swiped the card and she said, "You're swiping it wrong. You're swiping it wrong. Why would you swipe it like that? Is that how you swipe it at the grocery store?" Not in a joking way... in a very rude, almost-made-me-cry way. Like, why am I being bullied at the laundromat right now? Anyway, she helped me by letting me pay at the computer desk. All while being the rudest lady. I don't get it. Why work in customer service when you despise human beings? I'm too sensitive, and I'm sure everyone else would brush this off. But before I went my boyfriend did joke, "Careful of that lady, she is... testy. Try to avoid that." So, she has a reputation. Laundry is already a no-fun chore that causes many of us stress. Why add to it and make your customers feel stupid and like a burden? Especially when they're being kind???? Sorry to be lame. Just like, WTF. Now I have even more anxiety around laundry, because I have to worry about being yelled at by the Soap Bubble employee. C'mon guys!!!! read more

I've gone here a couple times now. My apartment doesn't have laundry, so my husband and I have done the wash and fold service 3 times now. Multiple issues with that. To start, we dropped off our comforter. It came back with lumps in the bedding, they clearly didn't follow the wash instructions. Now my comforter is ruined. The service is SAME DAY. we dropped our clothing off once, around 1. And they could not get it back until the next day. Our belongings have come back stinky, I can't explain the smell, other than it just smells awful. Not to mention, if you drive, good luck parking. If you do self service laundry, it seems fine. The place is clean and well kept. But I would not recommend the wash & fold service. Spending $70 for our clothing to smell, not getting it back the same day, and our comforter ruined. That's enough for me to not come back. read more

I went here to do self-service aka do my own laundry because the laundry in my building doesn't work well. The wifi works better than at my house so I was able to just work from there at the stools/table at the front window, which was awesome, plus it's a great neighborhood to walk around if you prefer that while you wait. Rosemont Market is right there and so is the new Ruby's brunch spot with delicious pastries and toasts. The laundromat itself is a really clean place, there are lots of different washers and dryers of different sizes, and every machine takes credit/debit cards as well as quarters. There are also many tables for folding and many rolling carts for wheeling laundry around. The whole place has security cameras if that's something you care about. I had a super positive experience overall. The woman at the counter is very kind. They also do wash & fold service by the pound as well as dry-cleaning. Parking out front on the street is pretty straightforward for Portland. read more

Expensive, unpleasant staff, and had items stolen after someone moved my laundry after cycle was completed.

Great experience here! Clean, quick and friendly. Great location. Less than a day turnaround for wash and fold. Came in to drop off some clothes for wash and fold. Everyone was friendly and courteous. The minimum is $15, which is a little higher than I'm used to (even in NYC it's only $10!), but it was worth it. I dropped it off in the afternoon and they told me it would be done the next day. At 8 am, I got a call letting me know it was ready for pick up! It was folded really nicely and packed into a plastic bag that was put back into my laundry bag. Really glad I came here. read more

Only a short walk from my apartment--great location! I was impressed by Soap Bubble, it's clean, calm, and inviting! Plenty of machines and carts for customers. They're limiting how many people can be inside (honors system from what I could tell) and customers are not allowed to "hang around" which is a good move! It's a little pricey, $5 for a 30lb washer, but all machines take Apple Pay, card AND coins. Will be coming here from now on! read more

Don't go here. I had put my laundry in the washer then sat in my car outside while it washed. I timed it and was inside within two minutes of it being done. When I got inside someone was using the washer I had my clothes in. They told me the employee told them to move my clothes out. Disgusting. I would love to know their policy on stolen laundry considering they encourage strangers to go through my things. Never going back. Not to mention if they had covid and touched all of my laundry. read more

This is definitely my new go-to laundromat in Portland! I usually don't go out to do laundry, but I had a few large items that wouldn't fit at home. The owners were definitely friendly and went out of their way to say hello and ask how people doing. They have a few different sizes of machines available, and they all looked modern and clean. In fact, the whole place was pretty clean. There was none of that sticky leftover detergent that I've seen at some other places. The machines also allow you to choose an extra dry option at the end to get more water out. In my excitement to try out a new laundromat, I completely forgot my detergent and dryer sheets! It's $1 for 1 mini box or cup of detergent, and 25 cents per dryer sheet. There's plenty of street parking in front as well as around the block. Besides the few 30 minute spots, there are a lot of 1 hour spots. The thing I liked most about Soap Bubble is that an hour is just enough time to do 1-2 loads, especially since their dryers work wonderfully fast and have a high heat option! read more

The Soap Bubble saved us when we were in a tough situation! We had to wash over 300lbs of clothes, sheets, basically all the fabric in our apartment (stupid clothes moths). The people at the Soap Bubble were so kind and so prompt with the wash and fold service that our belongings were ready way before we were ready to pick them up! They did a great job washing everything, especially some sentimental items like stuffed animals, AND they matched socks! I will definitely be using Soap Bubble for some non-emergency washing soon. We live in an old Victorian in Portland that has "laundry" in the basement. A couple things on that: 1) I'm a thousand percent our basement is haunted and refuse to go down there after hours or in the winter; 2) the "laundry" in our basement is really just two prehistoric machines, one that perpetually smells weird and does something akin to washing, and one that looks like a dryer but is actually just extra storage for your cold, wet clothing. As such, we frequently have to do our laundry elsewhere. I'm a big fan of using the barter and trade system to do my dirty stuff at my dad's house (i.e. "I'll bring you Holy Donut maple bacon donuts in exchange for unlimited access to your washing machine and dryer for the day... yes, I will also help you do some yard work."); unfortunately, he's located over an hour away, and since my partner swears by Soap Bubble that tends to be our in-town go-to. Despite the lack of parking, we like the neighborhood feel and location of Soap Bubble (maybe because we used to live nearby). It always seems safe, and we don't feel like we have to sit there neurotically waiting for our stuff - which is nice, because this is a particularly lovely area of town to meander around in. Part of the safe feeling of the place does in fact come from the dog that sort of hangs out, sniffs people, and walks around. We also like that the owner is always there, always friendly, and always checking-in on people to make sure they're okay. The washers don't smell like must and monster (like ours do), and the dryers are big and (actually) work. Not really sure you could ask for much more... except for maybe some indie rom com to take place. read more

This review is about their dry cleaning service and only my observation of the laundry area when I walk through. Their actual dry cleaning is off site. They're really nice when taking my items - a couple suits, dress shirts and a comforter (that has been in twice). The turn over is really quick. Only a couple days on the comforter which is better than the week I've had at other places. Let me just say, their cleaning is amazing - I have two pets and my dog is older and had an accident. They got all of the stain and smell out with no damage to the comforter. Woah! They're thorough and check pockets to make sure nothing is still in them. They were able to save a couple of photos we had from a wedding which they put in a small bag with our suit. As far as the shop, it's clean in general when I come in and machines look shiny. It's kind of cozy with their decorations and knick kancks. The only thing I can complain about is parking so be prepared for potentially a little walk to get in. I parked in the Chaval lot when they weren't open just for my dry cleaning drop. read more

I have a small baby and don't feel comfortable with such a large animal which is basically a part of the staff. This is a clean, comfortable, well run laundromat. The guy behind the counter helped us and answered all our silly questions (we don't go to laundromats too often). He was super polite and runs it as a safe place to do your wash. All the machines we used were clean and working, and we had no issues at all. Plenty of workspace to fold clothes as well. I liked this place before COVID. They give off the impression they are taking the pandemic seriously but both the employees today weren't wearing masks while I was there. Doing laundry here is a breeze. Every time I've gone in the staff has been really really helpful and very kind. They always have some good music playing, if you need anything they don't mind helping out. They always have the newspaper so I get to do a sudoku while I wait and it's near a coffee shop so you can get a latte too. The prices are pretty good too, if you know which machine to use. The ONLY complaint I have is if you leave and you don't come back before your load is done they won't wait even a few minutes, so they will take it right out and you come back to your wet clothes in a basket and the discomfort of not knowing who went through your laundry. But the plus of this is at least they are trying to free up machines for everyone! read more

The staff are very nice and first thing you do when you walk in is ask if they can help with anything. When the machine was not changing the bills to quarters the owner opened it and did it for by hand. The only thing that hurts is the price. 2 dollars for the regular wash, or 3 for the larger washing machine. A quarter gets you 5 minutes in the drying but for half an hour that is 1.25 which does a pretty bang up job. I do miss having a washer and dryer in my apartment. read more

Staff is super duper friendly and helpful, place is always clean and their machines work great. A++ I have done my laundry their and also dropped it off to be done with their wash in fold. I mistaking my left $25 in my pockets and got it back which I didn't even know. Their 100% honest and that's so huge. These guys will always get my business! read more

The washers do their job, which can't be said about every laundromat in the area. Your clothes will be clean, but not spun to an almost dry state. They were slightly heavy with water. The dryers, despite setting the warmest temperature, were on air fluff dry. They are set not to dry your clothes quickly. After spending $2.50 on one load, I gave up and air dried the clothes at home. I've been to several laundromat in the area and I've never spent more than a dollar drying a load. The clothes coming out of these dryers weren't even hot. You be the judge! I'm moving on. read more

I've always had a good experience doing laundry here. For a boring task, there are plenty of seats to sit on, hangout, read a book, or catch up on homework, while the laundry is finishing. The staff are all very nice and keep a clean, welcoming environment. Many laundromat's in Portland seem sketchy to me, but this one is not at all. A little pricy but worth it. read more

I would like to say about 10 years ago the soap bubble was clean and provided good service- Today not so good- The public bathroom and a sink was removed so the customers couldn't use was told by a attendant the owner was trying to save money. But the biggest Issue is that the owner is using COLD water only and not telling the customers. The soap bubble should Have HOT water they are inner city and as you know in order to kill bed bugs you need Hot water. Also the dryers take forever to dry your clothes because that's the way the owner has set them (Feed more (quarters) When I found out about the NO HOT water I have been going to South Portland to do my Laundry- The place is clean and they have plenty of Hot water. The Soap Bubble is clean and the attendants are very friendly and helpful. The prices seem to be on par with other laundromats in the area. We just moved to the neighborhood and stopped in here because of yelp reviews that they had wifi - if you have to go to the laundromat, might as well be able to get some work done. Unfortunately, the wifi is apparently hit or miss, and today was a miss. Couldn't get it to pick up anywhere in the joint. I think I'll continue trying other nearby laundromats to see if I can find one that will satisfy my need to multitask. read more

OMGoodness! I am SO excited that Soap Bubbles is reopening on February 1st, 2016 after being closed since December 11ish. They had a horribly broken pipe and flood issue. The location is large enough to handle crowds without a long wait for driers. It is clean. The owners and employees (and their pets) are top notch. Excellent customer service and I do not say that often. (BTW if their pets bother you, they will put them behind the baby gate-all you have to do is ask.) read more
