Deceitful Electrician??? Angry No- good liar Dean is a complete joke!!! Don't waste your time with his "bait and switch " techniques. Baiting and switching is illegal, sure wish I would've called the police to bring it to their attention. I should've gone with my second, maybe even third or fourth choice because I had to get ALL the work REDONE because of Dean's scamming ways. I'm surprised the BBB isn't more familiar with Dean @ Lighthouse. If you have to call him don't hesitate to call an home inspector to inspect his work BEFORE you pay him. I noticed an issue Tuesday afternoon (01/08/18) with the stove clock being out. Due to the ignition of the gas stove being electric, it affected the gas being started. Apparently the same circuit for the stove also controlled the garage. I found this out when D came home and couldn't get the garage to work. The next morning I reached out to another Electic company online to schedule an appointment. There were some scheduling issues due to a technician being ill and the earliest they could send someone was next Monday. That's when I called Lighthouse Electric. Dean was in the middle of a job somewhere in Valpo but cordially answered and listened as I explained the situation. He got my information and came over by early evening. He continued to be cordial and immediately went to work to figure out the issue. Other than some loose connections in the circuit box, nothing seemed obviously wrong. He checked the stove connections and the garage a few times and found that to be fine. When resetting the circuit, it seemed to work fine so perhaps the loose connections were the issue. He checked everything and even gave us some tips on our old boiler which will likely need to be replaced. He was done within the hour and charged a fair price. I'll definitely call him in the future for any other electrical needs. read more

We needed electric ran to our in-ground pool with very short notice. Dean was very accommodating and professional. He went through the permit process (providing liability insurance certificates in a day). We have a wifi pool box and Dean did a great job! He was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me. Called Dean on New Year's day because my mom was in a panic about her fuse box being weird and the house being out of power. Dean answered right away and headed over to see her. After he had already left to go to my mom's house, the fuse box started working again so I called Dean to let him know all was okay. He graciously didn't charge us even though he had already left, and it was a holiday. Very grateful to Dean for being ready and willing to help on a holiday on short notice! read more

DON'T GET DUPED BY DEAN @ LIGHTHOUSE!!!! "Calling all Better Business Bureau! There's a clueless electrician on the run. I repeat there's an angry, incompetent, clueless electrician on the run and it's....DEAN @ LIGHTHOUSE ELECTRICAL." Are there ZERO-stars available. My FIRST mistake was hiring Dean @Lighthouse!! Dean @ Lighthouse: doesn't listen; is rude and boisterous; throws temper tantrums One of the times, (yes, there were several), I observed Dean @ Lighthouse yelling and being angry(again) because he made a problem for himself during the installation of a switch and couldn't find the problem that he himself caused....soooo I got yelled at by Dean during a temper tantrum. Dean with his angry, gravelly voice " You don't even know your own electricity! Ha Ha!" I'm clueless to what that means since I thought I hired an experienced electrician, but it sure looked and sounded like Dean was bullying me. Homeowners love to be bullied by their nincompoop-of-an-electrician. When installing a new switch, clueless-Dean shorted out another perfectly good and working switch AND two perfectly good and working outlets in the process. ( I was charged extra by Dean for his temper tantrum "workshop"...Lol!!! Thanks Dean I can't wait to recommend you to all my friends, family, co-workers, neighbors!!). Wish I had filmed you so I could've uploaded it to YELP! for all to see. The footage definitely would have given Dean plenty, plenty, plenty of business! Dean was SUPPOSED to do upgrades?? I had a new panel installed. This was my SECOND mistake with Dean. This electrical panel was to be an UPGRADE so I could do future projects on my house, such as adding, but not limited to, other outlets,switches, A/C, heating, etc. BEFORE the upgrade I had TWO blank spaces on my panel. When Dean @ Lighthouse was finished, I had THREE!!! If Dean @ Lighthouse would have done it properly, I easily would've have 15-20 extra spaces. Dean @ Lighthouse knew before 10 AM that the electrical panel was not going to be sufficient for my needs. DEAN @ LIGHTHOUSE LACKS INTEGRITY, the "half-a-man-boy" who can't admit that he's wrong and incorrect. Can you imagine what Dean @ Lighthouse's former wife/exwife has to go through. Would love to have a Q& A with her. Ladies, I also want to point out he's single and a mighty fine catch too! My THIRD mistake was for Dean to run a new outlet in my basement for a dehumidifier. I told Dean @ Lighthouse that I needed an outlet with four plugs. INSTEAD, Dean @ Lighthouse "scabbed" from my sump-pump outlet wiring and installed two outlets and told me to use a "real good power-strip". What kind of electrician does an upgrade, then tells you to use a power-strip. You got it!!Dean @ Lighthouse does!! The new outlet was going to give me the accessibility to power the dehumidifier, water-softener, a clothes-iron, as well as an outlet for maybe running a vacuum cleaner, since ALL the outlets in my basement are already dedicated to sump, well, and washer & dryer. Dean only left me three spaces on my panel. If Dean @ Lighthouse would have installed the outlet properly it would've used another space on the panel, which would have resulted in me having on only two spaces left on my panel. Remember I only had two spaces left BEFORE Dean @ Lighthouse performed his "Upgrade". An upgrade and I still don't have any outlets in my basement. I told and explained to Dean @ Lighthouse that when he completed the panel that I don't have any outlets in the basement for the upgraded panel that Dean installed. Sounds like a hamburger with no bun!! Dean @ Lighthouse told me I would need to call him back and have him come out and install a small circuit panel that could accommodate 3-4 outlets for my basement for more money. Installing this "little box" would use two spaces in the panel. I'm going to remind you about Dean @Lighthouse....he left me three spaces. This Math must've been too much for Dean @Lighthouse! How am I going to get the SEVEN empty spaces on the panel when I only have THREE available spaces. Perhaps I could break the three in half and get six?? LOL! Maybe I should have Dean @ Lighthouse figure it out..... his warranty states if he can't find the problem it's FREE! Maybe I should put it out there for Dean @ Lighthouse to solve. 3 minus 7=?? Sounds like Dean @ Lighthouse needs a ribbon for his "participation". In conclusion, I would never, ever, ever recommend nor hire Dean @ Lighthouse. $2000+ and still no outlets in my basement. I hope you don't make the mistake of hiring Dean @Lighthouse like I did. Waste of money and two days of my time! There are several other real and capable electricians in and around Porter County and Dean @ Lighthouse IS NOT one of them. Look at his reviews on his website, they're a little too perfect and sanitized. ALL the reviews are perfect. As you know, usually "ALL" and "EVERY" means false or at least not 100% true.
