I was checking out this place for a while, until I was told by the bartender with the blonde hair that it was not a gay-friendly environment, and how I literally had to beware of "rednecks" hearing me say the word "gay" inside the bar. She claimed to be worried for my safety. I made no judgments, but of course felt uncomfortable, so that was my last night there. Otherwise, most all the other drunks were quite friendly and hospitable. I even talked to a very friendly guy who was all positive and embracing/accepting of me for intelligence and who I am, as he said clearly. So, I never concluded whether this bar was simply prone to occasional "gang" invasions, or if it was simply the bartender who was homophobic. Nevertheless, as an LGBTQ person, I wound up finding a better bar for my purpose in New Port Richey called Cribari Night Club (CNC), which is perfectly casual and lively fun. :) As for mainstream country bars though, for those who are more into casual middle-class country lifestyle, rather than the "ex-con" homophobic/racist gang lifestyle, I would recommend the Rebar over in Brooksville for its casual atmosphere, its friendlier staff, better security (as guys wear black security t-shirts, unlike at Lighthouse), and a more diverse crowd of regulars. If you're straight, you'll get hooked up better at Rebar with more options than at the old, economy-struck, mostly abandoned Lighthouse. And for other gay/bi people, I still have a better feeling about Cribari Night Club over in New Port Richey, and I've actually stumbled into a local straight girl and 2 lesbian girls who live and work in my hometown back in Ridge Manor, all the way over at Cribari Night Club, simply amazing! Everything happens in order. So, sorry, Lighthouse, you just don't shine for the right kind of ships! read more
