We sat on the patio and the area was very clean and inviting. We ordered the beef Rueben Sandwich. The corned beef was cut so thick that we couldn't bite it and it was tough. The rye bread, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut were cooked perfectly. It was sad that the meat was so thick and tough that we pulled it out of the sandwich and cut it and ate it with a knife and fork. I guess we just picked the wrong menu item. This was our first time here, and we probably won't go back. read more

Will never leave a good review when the staff has attitude issues. We sat by the kitchen and was amazed at the tone and language used by the kitchen staff. What a hidden gem! Was in town for business and decided to drop in for lunch. Ended up ordering breakfast instead, getting the 2 egg Sailor omelette and a single biscuit and gravy. The omelette, larger than most 3 egg omelettes that I've had, was excellent! However, the biscuit and gravy stole the show, it was to die for. On top of everything else the service was top notch! The Lighthouse is now The Lighthouse at the Lock. It was recently purchased by a local resident and businessman. The restaurant has been completely remodeled and updated with a warm, beach motif.The original Lighthouse Cafe (Old Canal Place) was a wonderful place to eat with great food and exceptional service. The new Lighthouse at the Lock does not disappoint. The cafe has an expanded menu featuring breakfast, lunch, dinner and now offers liquid libations (adult beverages). The chef inspired fare is excellent, served with complimentary, homemade pork rinds, which were warm and tasty. The menu includes appetizers, burgers, wraps, wings, pasta, homemade desserts and more. A Lenten special is also offered which was excellent. The ice cold beer was served in a refreshing, frosted glass. Service was very good, prompt and accurate. We were in town for a friends wedding the previous night so when we woke up and wanted breakfast I turned to Yelp for a suggestion and the Lighthouse Cafe came up and off we went for breakfast. The lighthouse cafe is in downtown Piqua with plenty of parking in the lot next door or on street. We walked right in and asked if we sat ourselves or if we should wait to be seated the cashier mentioned it was seat yourself. After finding a table we were greeted promptly by our waitress whom took our drink order and let us have a few minutes to peruse the menu. We decided on the Pat's Mess and Gary's Special. The Pat's Mess was homefries, sausage, mushrooms, onions and eggs and also toast and gravy. The Gary special was 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, home fries order of bacon and toast. First timer. Stopped in here on the way home from Indian Lake and was pleasantly surprised. The service was quick and friendly and the food was very good. I had "Pat's Mess" and though it did look like a mess on the plate, it was absolutely delicious! Scrambled eggs, sausage, onions, home fries, cheese, all covered in gravy. OH MY. Goodbye diet! I was on the Holly-Jolly 5k Speedy feet racing yesterday - December 6'2014 Saturday. After a 3.5 mile run, this place was amazing to have a GREAT breakfast. Gary -owner and his wife Pat - they go way beyond to do good service. They really care for customers. They come and ask what would you like to have. They made an Amazing Veggie Omlette- outstanding one....and they give Potato fry they make in South india as a vegetable fried one- i was touched... he comes also asks if we can do anything more. his wie Mrs.Pat takes care as soon as we enter, she comes to the table to get the drinks right away- Very hard working, sincere -good place to check out in downtown Piqua, Ohio. read more

The theme of all who post reviews here are that this is a mom and pop friendly staff down home kinda place. I agree. I'm in town for an early morning meeting, I looked to Yelp to find me a breakfast place. I'm glad I chose The Lighthouse Cafe. The menu that is posted on Yelp is very different than the one I was presented here, so I was initially disappointed. The lovely waitress pointed me in the direction of the French toast, delightful. The portion size was very reasonable. Not too large, which I appreciate very much. I need to come back another time to try their lunch menu. read more

I stopped in here with my family after my sons basketball game. As soon as we stepped in we were greeted with a friendly staff and told we could sit anywhere we liked. The place has a cozy small town feel! We were waited on immediately upon sitting down. The waitress was super friendly and was very patient while my 5 year old son ordered. Your coffee cup never goes dry without getting a refill! The staff is bustling around and taking care of the patrons. Our food came out super fast. What's great about this place that I noticed is the staff works as a team! The food was delicious and very affordable. Great atmosphere too! I'm so glad my family found this little gem. This is one happy place! My husband and I like to leave the interstates when we travel. We were on 75 going through Ohio, saw an exit for Piqua (never heard of it) and decided to go to downtown. That's where the gems usually are! Found the Lighthouse Cafe. The chatter between staff and customers was happy and positive. Everyone was laughing, complimenting each other, even the cook was singing the whole time! He has a great voice, by the way! Oh, yeah, the food was great, too!
