First time visiting here, food was good in our opinion, if you are a pancake lover, this is the right place, they're HUGE! Family stated omelet was really good and delicious, worth the wait. We found this little place on Hwy 35 South of Wadsworth, TX. The Chicken fired steak, mash potatoes and green beans with bacon. Salad bar was plentiful. Sweet tea is great. Service was amazing we walked in and was seated, the kitchen staff even brought our out food to made sure everyone got their food at one time.A very Western themed ambiance. Food was decent. There's not a lot to choose from in the area and I didn't bring lunch with me so I ventured out to this place. It wasn't bad. It has a salad bar with limited toppings. It's not a BBQ place at all so the title fooled me. It has typical cafe food, burgers, fries, sandwiches, hot options, and then they do a special of the day. Service is ok. There was one guy doing everything...serving, cleaning, hosting, cashiering. I think there might have been another person in the back cooking but I could be wrong. The atmosphere was dark but I could see my food so that's all I really cared about. If you're in the area, it's worth stopping by. I have no regrets. read more

It's hard to spot, but this restaurant is such a gem. The inside is clean, and the employees are welcoming with a warm smile. I ordered the patty melt with fries and my boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The food was delicious! Although we were the only customers there at the time, our meals were still made perfectly and quickly. Now that we know where to find this place, we will continue to dine here when visiting Matagorda. Cute place! We came for breakfast. It was literally the only close place open for breakfast on a Monday near Matagorda (7 minutes away). Glad it was the only place because we didn't regret it. The wait for the food was a little long but well worth the wait. Husband had chicken fried steak with eggs and toast, very good! I had 2 eggs, grits, biscuit, and sausage. The sausage was a little over cooked but had great flavor. Coffee was yummy. We spent $44 for 5 people with drinks. As we left they were putting the lunch steam tables out. Smelled amazing! The girl who took payment seemed like she was either sick or really high on something. Our food was cold (we ordered breakfast items) and portions varied from one container to another. GIGANTIC portions and great tasting. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area. Get the breakfast croissant or Texas Trash (hash), the ladder is best split with a partner. this place looks like a store; in front of an RV park and the front door is actually on the side... when you enter there is only 4 picnic type tables and two waitresses who are very friendly...the menu is basic but everything is good...we saw other folks ordering the Texas Trash but since we are watching our cholesterol levels we passed...but if you can take the hit try it you won't regret it....this is a great place for breakfast read more

We had both breakfast and lunch at Lighthouse. My wife had the Spanish Omelette,which was nothing short of the bomb diggity! Chock full of fresh veggies, it beat the holy hell out of any omelette IHOP or Denny's have to offer. I tore into a lb. of brisket, which was pretty awesome, but the side dish really did it for me. The fresh okra/tomato dish was wonderful I ate two of them actually! My mother had a grilled chicken breast that tasted like they killed the chicken as soon as she ordered. All of our food was noticeably fresh! Even better than the food was the service. The ladies were very polite, cordial, and never let our iced teas get under halfway full. I was with a party of 11 that spent all morning and pretty much all day in and out of the restaurant, and the service never wavered. I would definitely suggest this place to others. read more

The price for the size of the plate you get is absolutely amazing! My friend and I both ordered the Texas trash for $8.00. It was a huge plate full of sausage, bacon, hashbrowns, toast, two fried eggs, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and white gravy. The coffee is great and ginormous as well. we live nearby and have eaten there on several occasions but the food and service have been on a downward slide . The last time we ordered food from them we got home to discover that our club sandwiches were burnt toast and burnt bacon and they put mustard on them and did not give us our fries . When I went back up there to talk to them about it all the wanted to do was argue . I will never go there again ! read more
