Unfortunately, I can't leave zero stars, but that's what they deserve. Two separate encounters both of which were horrible. Staff aren't knowledgeable, are incompetent, argumentative and have stand-offish attitudes. Customer service is nonexistent. I tried to order a standard two burner stove to replace one in my outdoor kitchen. After 3 trips to the store and several phone calls, I finally gave up. Then I ordered a 10k fireplace, took a month to come in, parts were "missing", which took another month delaying our remodel for 6 weeks. They didn't seem to care, gave us the run around and weren't helpful solving the problem. I will never do business with them again read more

Today is 1/23/2026, I have a grandmother in Tyler, Tx who realized she might need her gas logs to work with the incoming weather. I spoke with Wade this morning and asked if he had any availability knowing that very likely the answer would be no. Wade asked where she lived and he noted that he had a job close by and would be willing to stop by if their schedule allowed. Wade arrived and spoke to my grandmother at length while checking out the situation and performing the necessary service. He treated her with the utmost respect and kindness. We bought some gas logs from Dylan Byrd. Who was very knowledgeable of my gas fireplace and hookups. He explained everything in a way that I could understand and with lots of knowledge. I came to Tyler to look at several stores that sold gas logs and Light Your Fire was my first stop. After dealing with Dylan it was my last stop. He sold me on the logs. I don't recommend buying gas logs at Lite Your Fire in Flint, TX unless you are very knowledgeable about gas logs, understand exactly what you want, and most importantly you are able ensure the sales person with whom you work is listening carefully. I asked for a unit that would allow me to light the pilot with a remote and told her I live in a restored historic home (retrofit not new construction) and have propane (no natural gas). The saleswoman, who was friendly but way too chatty to be a good listener, told me she had exactly that and I bought it at a cost of $1,091.16. Turns out I cannot light the pilot with the remote and a unit that would allow me to do so may not even exist. Lighting the pilot is a rather laborious process involving several buttons and dials and getting on your hand and knees with a flashlight. You can light the fire with a remove, but not the pilot. This leaves you with a choice: leave the pilot on all winter (loud, generates a small amount of heat which is an issue in E. TX where winter temps can rise to 70 or more) or scramble around on the hearth each time you want a fire. I was crystal clear about what I wanted and she should've told me either that they do not have it or it's not available at all. The other issue you should be aware of if you shop at Light Your Fire is cost. I bought the 24" Mountain Oak by Monessen. Had I done my research (my bad) I'd have saved several hundred dollars, as it's available at other store for much less. I don't know if this was a failure to communicate (she interrupted a lot and I don't think I completed a single sentence) or if she simply didn't wish to lose a sale. Regardless, I'm stuck with a pricy product I do not want. read more

Avoid this place. The configurations are impossible for normal people to put together. If your pilot ever goes out, you have to remove the logs to get the pilot turned back on and then the fire won't transfer back to the unit When you call them to ask for help ITS A $200 DOLLAR SERVICE CALL AND THEY ARE RUDE TO BOOT. I have never dealt with such rude people . I ordered from them in February and paid in full . I was told the fireplace would be ready for installation in early March . I called several times to schedule installation. No one called me back. They showed up at 10 AM unannounced . I was at work . When I called them , I was rudely told that it was my fault because I told them I was ready . . I told them we are both physicians and not sitting at home and have to schedule an appointment . Weeks later , I get an appointment. I took off work and installer did not show up . I called him and he said he was sent to another job . I paid in full when I ordered in February. Logs did not come in until July and now in August I'm getting another bill for duct . Original invoice was $ 20 duct , now telling me it took more duct and I owe $120. read more

Very frustrated with this company. We ordered a gas fireplace insert from them in November 2021 and it wasn't installed until March 2022 after several delays. Each delay due to a different excuse. So, we haven't been able to use it until the last several weeks and when we went to turn it on, it didn't work. When calling the store, they were very unhelpful. We were finally able to get it to work on our own, but it produces very low flames that are barely visible. Once again, calling the store was useless. We were told that because the gas is regulated, the flame won't get any higher. If we had known that, we definitely would not have spent as much as we did. At least the logs look nice. read more

She may think she is communicating but her failure is not only as a salesperson but as a reasonably compassionate person to disabled people. Stay away from this company! We had a exhaust placed through our roof and they destroyed the roof! We needed to hire a roofer to fix the mess they made. They simply tore off shingles when they make the hole for the exhaust and the roof leaked. Our house is 2 years old there shouldn't be any leaks. We became a client of Light my fire 8 years ago when we built our new home in Edom, Tx. Was disappointed with the original experience, but loved the gas fireplace they installed. Over the past year, the unit began faulting out when trying to start it with the remote. I contacted them 4 weeks ago to ask for a service call. Their recording, didn't speak to alive person said they were really busy due to the season and be patient. Someone called me back the next day and asked for my information. They said right now they are running about 2 weeks behind. I waited 2 weeks and called, again left message. No return call after 2 days. Called again and actually got through to someone. She told me she couldn't give me any information, the technicians actually maintained their own schedules and one of them would have to call me. Waited another week and called Fieldstone & Fireplace in Athens, Tx. What a wonderful experience! The person who answered the phone actually scheduled my appointment, the tech arrived on time, fixed the problem and was so professional within 2 days. Lesson learned. read more

Light Your Fire was used to install my gas fireplace by my builder. It never really worked correctly. Wouldn't stay lit. I spent over four months trying to get a technician to come to my home. I was told technicians schedule their own appointments. The person answering is rude and unprofessional. (In their defense...there are only two technicians. So I'm sure they are stretched thin. Both of them were extreme nice snd very professional.) I was told by the technician that the problem was a manufacturer-defect. He had seen it before on that model and the manufacturer covered it. He told me he would give it to the owner and there would be no charge. A month later when I finally got them back to fix it, I was sent a bill. Thinking it was a mistake, I called to clear up the mistake. Again, the lady was rude and unprofessional. They continued to resend the bill. I have paid it because it is not worth the trouble. However, I will never use or recommend this company again, and will notify my builder. read more

Unfortunately, I had to give one star. If we could get our money and time back, we would do so - no hesitation. We have spent months building and had to wait for them to install the fireplace back in October 2020. The quality of workmanship made us have some concerns and we should have stopped at that point. We finished our home building a ten days ago and have placed several calls to Light Your Fire. Any fire in our new fireplace creates heavy smoke in the house so they recommended several ideas to combat the problem. We have tried them - all of them. This is not just a small amount of smoke; this causes the smoke alarms throughout out house to go off. That, in itself, creates a problem. Neighbors, dogs, etc. So my husband has continued to call and leave messages with no return call. Finally, we decided to drive over there today. We were confronted by some guy (he never identified himself) who said he had looked at the pictures we had sent and the problem was that our wood was not seasoned. He, then, said that the insulation in our house was too good and the house was too airtight. When we asked about having someone come to actually check the problem, he responded quickly that they were booked at least 2 weeks out. Since we had to wait weeks to have the fireplace installed, I really shouldn't been surprised to hear that we would, again, have to wait weeks for service. This guy's attitude was almost accusatory in that our wood was wet and our house was airtight. He acknowledged a nifty little tool in his hand that could measure the moisture of our firewood. He told us about the handheld tool that he held but said that he didn't sell them; they were only for the workers. Good customer service would have sent us home with it for the night with the understanding that we would return tomorrow morning. This tool is the size of a tv remote or cellphone. Then he tells us that Amazon sells them for $14, but we would have to order one and wait for it to arrive. Forget that snow is predicted and that we cannot use our fireplace. If we lose power, we're just out of luck. What is it with these younger people? Have they never been taught or heard of customer service? Not only will I not go back, I'll do everything I can to dissuade any friends or acquaintances from doing business with them. Any business that cannot return repeated phone calls in the day that they are received doesn't need to be in business. read more
