First time going to the cinemas in the UK and loved the experience. Was a bit worried that we weren't going to see the screen very well because we were in the second row, but the chairs reclined back enough so that it didn't really matter where you were sitting in the theater. You can definitely comfortably see the whole screen wherever you are sitting. Here are some of my observations: - The food here, like any other movie theater, is insanely expensive. A popcorn and slushie was £12 which was quite ridiculous given that you can get that for under £3 at a supermarket. I will say that the slushie was quite good but the popcorn was flavorless. But then again, its Europe and people are a little bit more health conscious with how much sugar and salt food items have. - I don't think they care very much if you bring your own food into the theater. Only thing is that they don't have utensils, so just be a bit mindful of that. - While the end credits are rolling, the theater doesn't turn its lights on. Overall, great experience at Vue even though the food is super expensive. Next time, I will just bring my own into the theater.

I suppose that's how they manage to charge more for different seats. Beware: if you choose the cheapest seats, you may not be able to squeeze your legs in! Upon discovering the terrible seats most of us chose, many people moved themselves to better seating resulting in the first 20 minutes of the movie being filled with arguing from late comers finding their assigned seats filled. Other than that, it was your usual mediocre popcorn and sticky floor kinda place.

The junction consists of clubs, theatre, rooms for dance, gigs, comedy and live music amongst other activities. Different nights of the club offer different music theme such as indie, rock, electro, drum, disco, funk and many more. The ticket prices vary depending on the events; some events are for 16+ and some strictly 18 and over. Talking about tickets, they can be quite expensive, starting from £7 and some events cost as much as £20 per ticket. The comedy nights are remarkable, tickets start from £10 and you can save some money by buying your ticket in advance. The variety of events that is hosted in this place means there is never a boring moment and you can have a time of your life.

The Junction hosts easily a thousand events each year so it's obvious to note there is something for everyone. In recent years other leisure areas have developed in the same location on Clifton Road, meaninga day out in Cambridge can be had in this cosy space alone, no need to head into the busy City Centre. The club nights definitely have to be the best aspect of The Junction, from classic disco's to Dot Cotton - the monthly gay night, they normally run well into the early hours and offer a wide range of entertainment and drinks. A definitive place to start, spend and end your evening.

Arts Picturehouse is a theatre that has a cafe/bar inside for eating too. My friend got a classic wrap with chips and I got the sirloin steak medium rare with a side salad. I was quite impressed by the menu options since I'd assumed they would keep it quite simple for pre-theatre meals, but I was mistaken. My steak wasn't stellar quality, but it was certainly good enough, and cooked to medium rare, just how I like it. I stole some of my friend's chips to sneak in some carbs lol. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again for the food, but certainly would for the vibe :)

We're not talking about huge blockbusters here - it's more Indie films and the like, though the Lion King was showing when we visited on Easter Sunday. We were there to see Calvary (which is my film of 2014, so go and see it right now. This review will still be here when you get back!) My only gripe? God there's a lot of adverts. I'm sure there was more than your mainstream cinema, or at least it felt like there were, which isn't a great sign. However, there's a small cafe situated on the upper level here, where you can grab pre or post movie snacks or sandwiches, and is a great space for dissecting the film you've just seen!

Then it fell into disrepair and became a place you dared your mates to break into during the late 1980s after school had finished. Now, The Rex (as all good cinemas should be called) has been restored to its former glory. When I say former, think 1930s Art Deco, plush red seating, original projector and art house matinées. The place is a treat and a MUST visit for any cineophile. Prices are reasonable (approx £7 at time of writing) but availability is tough. You need to quick on the phone as it seems every person in Berkhamsted is a paid up member. Before each performance (and they are performances!) you can relax in the lobby where there are books on film to paw over or head down stairs and grab yourself a beer or a glass of wine. It's that sort of place. Do make sure you get to your seat in time for the traditional, and I found informative, pre film introduction from the Manager, James. A proud, curious creature James embodies the character behind this most charming of movie houses.
