It is a really well used building and can be hired to the public for lots of different things, such as wedding receptions, which is where I held mine and I couldn't have asked for a better place to hold it really. The cinema is well used despite the new cineworld arriving in town. The films are usually a few months behind the main cinema but if you missed it somewhere else it is worth checking here. Pantomime's and kids plays go on here too. We have always found these to be of excellent value and well attended. The food in the cafe is always excellent and is not too badly priced. It is not a huge area though so is often busy. Waiting is not usually a problem and service is fairly quick. kids particularly fare well as the food for them is really quite good. The bar upstairs is ok. Sells a good selection and there are snacks such as popcorn and minstrels as well if you are attending some sort of performance. The blood donation service is always regularly attending here too which is great.

Cineworld has comfy seats with plenty of elbow room. Luckily, as oldies, we get to see films in the afternoon when the screen rooms are almost empty. Was a bit worried that we weren't going to see the screen very well because we were in the second row, but the chairs reclined back enough so that it didn't really matter where you were sitting in the theater. You can definitely comfortably see the whole screen wherever you are sitting. Here are some of my observations: - The food here, like any other movie theater, is insanely expensive. A popcorn and slushie was £12 which was quite ridiculous given that you can get that for under £3 at a supermarket. I will say that the slushie was quite good but the popcorn was flavorless. But then again, its Europe and people are a little bit more health conscious with how much sugar and salt food items have. - I don't think they care very much if you bring your own food into the theater. Only thing is that they don't have utensils, so just be a bit mindful of that. - While the end credits are rolling, the theater doesn't turn its lights on. Overall, great experience at Vue even though the food is super expensive. Next time, I will just bring my own into the theater.

I suppose that's how they manage to charge more for different seats. Beware: if you choose the cheapest seats, you may not be able to squeeze your legs in! Upon discovering the terrible seats most of us chose, many people moved themselves to better seating resulting in the first 20 minutes of the movie being filled with arguing from late comers finding their assigned seats filled. Other than that, it was your usual mediocre popcorn and sticky floor kinda place.

It has existed for such a long time as being the only cinema, until the multi screen was built, and therefore offers a comparable limited choice of films on its 2 screens. I believe this cinema serves as a memory of old time theatres for adults to go back to as they can relive their childhood. The cinema is located just off the town centre - there is parking in the street outside, but other than that the nearest car parking would be on Angel Hill (time limited) or one of the other car parks. The cinema is open daily, is competitively priced, and definitely well worth a visit. Hopefully this cinema will not fall to the recession and will stay open for many years to come (although it has struggled in the past due to the multi screen cinema competition).

Before we bought the tickets we told CALLAUM why isn't there a child ticket and he said cause there isn't an option for this movie so we were told it had to be purchased as an adult ticket. We bought our tickets got inside the theater and then were ticked out because our daughter was not allowed in there. Ridiculous. We bought snacks and drinks just to watch the movie. We requested a refund or a credit for the snacks we got since we spent it for no reason. CALLAUM was very rude and said we didn't even have to refund these tickets for you since I told you she was not allowed in. He never said this. Trash experience never coming back and I will tell everyone I know NOT to come here.

I remember…read morecoming out of seeing Return Of The Jedi pretending I was an ewok, excitedly leaving after watching Marty McFly in Back To The Future and being less than enamored with Flight Of The Navigator - well you get the picture. Then it fell into disrepair and became a place you dared your mates to break into during the late 1980s after school had finished. Now, The Rex (as all good cinemas should be called) has been restored to its former glory. When I say former, think 1930s Art Deco, plush red seating, original projector and art house matinées. The place is a treat and a MUST visit for any cineophile. Prices are reasonable (approx £7 at time of writing) but availability is tough. You need to quick on the phone as it seems every person in Berkhamsted is a paid up member. Before each performance (and they are performances!) you can relax in the lobby where there are books on film to paw over or head down stairs and grab yourself a beer or a glass of wine. It's that sort of place. Do make sure you get to your seat in time for the traditional, and I found informative, pre film introduction from the Manager, James. A proud, curious creature James embodies the character behind this most charming of movie houses.

It also very much compliments 'The Junction' nightclub which was stuck out on its own before this was built, but now it is perfectly situated next to the bars and restaurants. It also features an LA fitness gym, which is well equipped and also has a lovely swimming pool, and also a decent cinema which isn't too crowded like the 'Vue' in town. A shame that the video shop has closed down, but I suppose that's the credit crunch!

Empire cinemas, Bishop's Stortford…read more I suppose this is much the same as any cineplex cinema complex in any town, with 6 or so screens showing a selection of the most popular films, family favourites and not a great deal else. This cinema was originally part of the Cineworld chain, but the monopolies commission ordered them to break the business up and Stortford's cinema was one of the ones that got thrown out. As a result, we sometimes miss out on some of the bigger chain's offers, such as the ability to use Nectar points, and other discounts. Popcorn and Cokes etc are the usual over-priced fare, but you can get some meal deals, and all in all it's fairly typical of the cineplex experience!
