Don't EVER use this company. They manage to make a horrible time following a DUI as terrible as they can. They're only open 8-5 M-F, so if you work that schedule you just has to make it work somehow.
When I was scheduled for my installation, I showed up only to see a dark shop with a note in the window saying that the tech was on a service call. And there's no way to call the shop directly. All calls have to go through their 800 number. After waiting 15-20 mins to see if anyone would show, I called them and was on hold for 45 minutes, being told I was second in line and the wait would be 12 minutes. That continued for about 30 minutes, then the wait time went up to 15 minutes, then to 20. So I hung up, literally screaming with frustration, and call right back and get right through to someone right away. WTF? When I finally talk to someone, she said I had been double booked (not the last time this happened) and they were not at all sympathetic or helpful in trying to make up for their mistake. She also used the excuse that they were a *new* company with some glitches to work out, while the most annoying recording in the world that I had just listed to for 45 mins brags that they've been around for 20+ years.
The time I decided to try their Bellevue location, I found out the hard way that they can't even get the address for that location correct (not even close) on their website, so that was another 30 minutes of my life they wasted. Don't expect much in the way of courtesy from the shop techs, and BTW, you *have* to be on time, but you usually show just to sit there and wait, so don't expect them to be timely either.
After installation, I found that the device drained my battery. No heads up from them that this might happen (and yes, they knew). And similar to Nicholas H, I also experienced the "rolling retest" headache. There were also several times that I got a warning by the handset, presumably for not blowing into it precisely correct, and I twice got a fail for no reason I could tell.
When it was time to get the device taken off, I felt like a ping pong ball being bounced back and forth between the company and the DOL just trying to get a straight answer on the correct steps for removal. Was told different things both places, and of course they can't talk directly to each other. The cruelest part was being wrongly told that I could get the thing removed two months before I was really allowed to, and three months before it was actually removed.
I have a whole list of other complaints about this place and their service, which I have sent to their company and the BBB but I hope you get the point. If you have had a DUI, don't compound the frustration by using LifeSafer. If you do end up using them, for goodness sake, go to the Lynnwood location over Bellevue. read more
