I just noticed that I had only given this 3 stars several years back so this is a correction that is overdue. I dont know why I was so harsh then. It's a really good bagel shop, better than just OK and no doubt great for the area. Just got a bakers dozen Sunday morning and it barely fit into the shopping bag. Life's a Bagel is the reason I got a toaster oven as there is no point to slicing a bagel and then further shaving it down to fit a conventional toaster. And toast I must as this freshest of fresh bagels seems to have an issue with my tummy if I dont. Price is nice considering the shear amount of bagel one gets. A lot of dough for a little dough. That 13th bagel bonus is very cool. I usually get cream cheese, its fresh whipped and spreads easily. Lox is another matter I love it but darn is it pricey. The bagels are "delicious" but the menu is deceiving it states $1.73 for each bagel. I personally thought that was underpriced for the size of the bagel. I ordered two bagels an everything bagel with butter and an egg bagel with cream cheese I was charged $5.00. It also states pay with cash for a 3.5% discount. I paid $5.00 in cash and when returned to work realized there was only one bagel in the bag. I returned for the second bagel not in the bag and was charged an additional $6.00 and I again paid with cash. I paid an additional charge of $3.27 for butter and 4.27 for cream cheese on the second bagel. I would just suggest they let you know the additional cost on the menu board. The bagels are large in size and a 1/2 lb. of cream cheese is sold for 4.95 at the counter. read more

What a way to start our Christmas Eve festivities! We've driven by this place a few times, but never stopped in. I guess that's what you get for starting your day later than usual.. waking up early apparently DOES have some benefits, and when it comes in the form of a GIANT homemade bagel, I'll take an 8 AM alarm on a Saturday any time! Yes, these bagels are HUGE, so be prepared to chow down on doughy goodness in several different flavors from classic, like poppyseed, everything, and sesame, to more creative picks like egg/onion and blueberry. The egg bagel is phenomenal, and one of the best things I've eaten this month.. maybe even this entire year! Get here early. Even though the selection is ample, with grub this good, they do run out occasionally, so plan ahead to ensure you'll be nomming on your fave flavor. The shop is pretty Spartan, and very small. However, it's clean, and I felt like they did a good job abiding by social distance protocols even in such a tiny space. Service is brusque but prompt, and even if there's a line, the staff keeps things moving in a fairly fast paced manner. Make sure to bring cash or a debit card, as there is a surcharge for using a credit card. Even though this was our first visit, it won't be the last. After all, life really is a bagel! read more

I wasn't too impressed with the flavor of anything. It was still a decent bagel but didn't stand out. The egg didn't taste fresh, it was similar to the eggs they use at fast food places for breakfast sandwiches. I think there was too much cream cheese at some points (and that's saying a lot coming from me). It didn't taste toasted which is key to a good bagel. In my opinion, the bagels are too thick, too bready The customer service is mostly why my rating is so low. We ordered two bagels: 1 egg bagel with egg and cream cheese and 1 everything bagel with egg and scallion cream cheese. Instead, we got 1 egg bagel with egg and regular square cheese and 1 everything bagel with just scallion cream cheese. To be fair, there was some construction going on outside the door so that didn't help with communicating. But, the right thing to do would have been to make our order right. When we came back in to tell him it was wrong, he grabbed the bag and threw it down, then tossed it in the trash. All he had to do was add egg to mine instead of throwing it all away. Not to mention, he charged us an additional $2 for adding egg on mine, which doesn't sound right, considering he messed up. I would've added the egg and called it even without an additional charge. I don't see myself coming back for mediocre bagels and bad customer service. read more

I have a fairly simple order. Asiago with lettuce tomato and cream cheese. At 7 in the morning there was no Asiago that's fine he told me that. He then made the rest of my bagel and as I left I checked and it was a plain bagel with plane cream cheese toasted. Didn't tell me they didn't have toppings. For some reason toasted when I never said to. Like is it that hard to communicate? Place was a little run down and drink selection was minimal. I wouldn't want a Coke with a bagel. read more

Just shared an ET and a marble with my husband... bagels that went through a 5-day freeze, and before that a 9-hour drive to DC, and before that an overnight hotel stay, and before that hours sitting in a car while we had dinner with family. As soon as I got home they went into individual quart bags to be frozen. Put them in our Emeril oven to warm them enough to cut. Then, toasted two-and-a-half cycles on the "Bagel" setting. Topped them with the lox/scallion cream cheese, which is delicious. I am in disbelief at the delicious flavor and perfect texture after our bagels' long journey. This is a testament to how great the quality is. Unfortunately, it's also a reminder that we have crap bagels in the DC-area, despite there being such a large Jewish population here. It's upsetting because there used to be great Jewish food here, but no longer--you have to travel north to at least Baltimore for authenticity. Don't talk to me about Bethesda Bagels, Izzy's, Call Your Mother... ugh. read more

I have been eating bagels here for over 20 years. They're enormous and delicious, soft and chewy, and there are a lot of flavors you can't get elsewhere. This is a really down-to-the-basics shop where many people go to grab a dozen bagels and a tub of cream cheese, but they also have a few sandwich options (like lox, white fish salad... nothing with egg, meat, etc.). Honestly fantastic kosher breakfast sandwich. I don't know what the secret is but the temperature the bagels toast at is phenomenal. They came out so evenly toasted and crispy without scarring the roof of my mouth! Unbelievable compared to some of the other places I've been to in MA. Came in around 1:15 pm July 14 Friday - The woman waiting on me doesn't even give a customer back their change (money) - she just never comes back to the customer - and you can hear her throwing your change into a container. It's stealing. Hand the customer their money. She also has no manners. I actually thanked her as I hand her my own money. All she can say is "umhmmm". Also, she told me this business will take a credit card/debit card, but they are conducting the illegal practice of charging a surcharge. That is not legal in Massachusetts. Look it up, owner. It's not legal in Massachusetts. (You have to get with the times, Life's a Bagel) once your business finally accepted cards, you also have to understand it's your cost of having a business to not think you can just pass off credit surcharges on customers. read more

Amazing bagels. Moved to Canton recently so first time trying life's a bagel. The bagels and cream cheese are delicious and fresh. We bought a half dozen (two plain, two everything, and two egg) and scallion cream cheese. Everything was excellent. Also these bagels are big! They didn't fit in our regular two slice toaster so I toasted them on a flat pan on the stove. So good! The life's a bagel store took all the COVID 19 precautions. I'm giving this place 2 stars based on its one star service and consistency. However the bagels are amazing and even though I am completely dissatisfied with their service this must be noted. Issues with service: here's one example. I order a dozen bagels (they advertise a Bakers dozen so 13). I ask if one garlic bagel could be toasted with scallion cream cheese and the remaining 12 be an even split between garlic, sesame and pumpernickel. I also asked for a Tub scallion cream cheese and asked if she would use this for the bagel so don't pay extra needlessly. So, I understand some places won't do this and that's fine, but the lady behind the counter agreed. When I leave I see I have 11 bagels in the bag (so not a bakers dozen), there's no sesame bagel but plain instead and I have a plain cream cheese. Also I was charged for a dozen bagels and a separate bagel and cream cheese. I live in Attleboro so it's about a 35 minute drive to this place. Today I wanted to give them another shot since the bagel are good. I call up to verify hours and drive 40 min with traffic. I arrive at 12:50 and they are out of bagels. 100% out. How is this possible when this is essentially all toy carry and why wouldn't you mention this before I drive here. Unacceptable and inconsiderate. I really hope they get their act together I would like to continue to come here but this is too much. read more

To the point where I could not finish mine without a little struggle. They have a few options available including lox, egg, cheese or cream cheese and also have a few drinks available including a variety of juices, milks and coffee. Whether you're here for breakfast, or to snag a half a dozen bagels to go, they have you covered but just keep in mind that the place is cash only.
