Two back-to-back, appointment-arranged, recent morning visits to this lab for my lady -- I helped…read moreand accompanied her into the lab for each. - first morning - an extended time visit (about an hour), to conduct several procedures. - second morning - a short time in / out to conclude everything. She was well taken care of ... from initial checking in each day, to and through the various tests, and procedures done. And in good spirits when she came back out to the lobby, waved to me, and said "I'm done". .. update -- no, not done quite yet -- her family doctor called and advised that lab tests had revealed an infection present in one of the tests. The lab wanted to run the test again, to confirm ... and it did. A req had been sent by family doctor to pharmacy for an antibiotic to be put on hold, upon receiving the first news -- it was now activated, and I was there to pick it up. All this was done within our Thanksgiving weekend!! A big thanks extended to LifeLabs, family doctor, and pharmacy for their coordinated efforts!!!!

I had to drop off my sample this morning and the person in the middle desk was the most rudest…read moreperson ever. I waited until she was done speaking with another person and I approached and asked where I could leave the sample bag. She practically screamed at me and claimed that she was busy dealing with something else and she yelled to go and stand "back there", she waved her hand and said, "that blue line". I waited patiently and then another aide came and sat at the first desk. She saw that I had a sample bag and asked if she could help me. I asked if I could drop off my sample and she said that she could take it. I felt like saying that her co-worker was very rude, but I refrained. I would suggest that this location should have some kind of drop off box or another system where people can quickly drop off their samples and be on their merry way and not have to get their heads bitten off for asking a legit question. I think that aide #2 in the middle desk needs to have better manners and should get better training dealing with the public cordially and effectively. She simply could have just taken the sample, but instead wanted me to wait in line. Yes, I get you are busy but in these times, a little human compassion/understanding would have gone a long way.

Wandering why the staff can't think that she will stay for 2 hrs and wait. They are still saying that. Seat and wait for the name to be called. The location of this 'Lab' is tucked away a touch from the general flow in the area. and from personal experiences (daughter's and mine), can often be found a little less-active than others in nearby areas (within New Westminster and Burnaby). I arrived at the location about 5 minutes before the Lab's opening time of 8 am, and stood (as #3) in a line outside. The line had grown to double that amount by the time we were first allowed any entrance to check in. Once inside, the initial checking in process was prompt. The waiting time after though, to be actually processed for the lab procedures took some time, but knowing I was third to be taken helped! When my name was called, I was back to the desk, specific data taken, and then was off to the lab area for the procedures -- which proceeded friendly, quickly, and very efficiently! With smooth, and totally painless needle work by the lab tech at my station!! After a short visit to the 'other' place to make a deposit, I was back to daughter waiting for me outside!

I was second in line to check in, but waited 15 minutes before the staff behind the glass would even look up and glance at the line to Help anyone, it was evidently much more important to print labels. After checking in I waited forty minutes in the chair for my blood draw. During this time the staff kept checking people in and lying saying they were running "ten minutes behind" I wish! All in I left over an hour after my appointment time, the person doing the draw was okay but they have time management problems here. I'll never come back!

And upon checking the lifeLabs website found out it was to be open today. I headed there early, for its first day of operations. I arrived at the facility as the staff were arriving for their first day working at the facility. And was their first customer to check in!! The facility was shiny new and clean, and the procedures conducted perfectly -- thanks to the staff, I could not have asked for anything more. I was called up to to the desk to check in promptly at 7 am (the business opening time), and was out, and walking back home in a matter of a few minutes. My thanks to LifeLabs for opening this new location in the area, and to the friendly, skilled staff conducting the laboratory procedures.

Other staff here do not like to answer the phone despite them being either less busy or not as I have personally witnessed in office and heard phones, ringing, but staff not answering calls. Although at times this office can be quite busy. Frustrating when trying to reach office several times over the course of a week.

In the past five years with this practice I have experienced -being sent to specialists without my medical information being sent to them therefore making my appointment useless as the specialist only knew my name. -being sent to a specialist that was confused about my appearance there as their practice was not in the part of the body that was experiencing the issue -being sent to a specialist but booked for the wrong procedure despite detailed instructions on what was desired and clarification or the Physician's understanding before booking -every in person appointment being 1-1 1/2 hours past the appointment time with appointments lasting roughly 3 minutes -on every occasion testing was done results were not conveyed to me without myself calling them to find out. Regardless of whether the results should have led to medication and health procedures. -phone appointments being avoided by the practitioner by calling a minimum of 30minutes past the appointment time and if that single call is missed requiring the call to be rescheduled for a later date. If you have any other options avoid the frustration.
