I've been a member of Lifetime for 6 years. This facility has a lot to offer members. Indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, café, beauty salon, child care, massage available for a cost, basketball and racquetball courts, a climbing wall and a large workout are with individual workout rooms. The equipment is well kept and there is plenty available even in the 1st quarter of the year during "rush hour" from 5:30 to 7:30. Membership is a little pricey for all of this, so if you only plan to lift weights or walk on a treadmill, then you may want to join a smaller gym. They do offer trainers (extra cost) and all of the staff seems to be friendly and knowledgeable. Management does seem to put quite a bit of emphasis on extra income with private child parties that can interfere with members court time. All-in-all, pleased with my experience. read more

This review is based on real people, real experiences. Bottom line, Lifetime Fitness Sucks. I recently attempted to cancel a long-term membership that had not been used in months, perhaps years. I started the conversation out with "I need to cancel a membership." From this point, I went through three people before I finally came to the person who would deal with me and my cancellation issue. In my experience, this sort of hand off is always a bad sign. It means: "We need to get you connected to the person who has the best selling skills, or who ultimately can get the shittiest about losing a potential customer." My premonition was correct - at least on the second assumption. The story I was told was that only the person whose name the account is in can cancel a membership. I understand this - even though the payment comes from my account. Then the not-so-subtle line of antagonism began. It went like this... LTF: Oh and you have to give thirty days notice of cancellation so you'll be paying for one more month even after you cancel. Me: Or I can just stop payment on the credit card LTF: You'd still be liable for the one month payment Me: Like you're going to pursue litigation for one month of membership fees? LTF: The company has done that. Me: How long has it been since that membership was used - months? Years? LTF: I can't tell you that, I can only tell the member whose account the name is in. Me: But I'm paying for it. LTF: Doesn't matter. Seriously - threatening litigation for wanting to cancel a membership??? When the person whose name is on the account went in today to cancel the account - guess what - they had to deal with the same clerk (posing as a manager) as I did. I quote: "Man, you would not believe how many spitballs they throw at you when you go to cancel a membership: reduced rates, freebies, uppers and adders just to not quit. Oh and by the way - no immediate cancellation. Still charged a month of "notification time."" What is it, LTF has to find someone to "rent your spot?" A better response: "I can see you haven't used this account in 12 months for a total cost of over $600. Therefore let's just make your cancellation immediate, starting now." This is one of the premier gyms in Indianapolis. It's almost overwhelming with all the features it offers. It is very family oriented and family friendly. The big pool outside with the giant slide stays very busy in the summer with all the little kids and family using it often. They are open 24 hours a day so you always have time to work out. The equipment is nice, newer top of the line type equipment to work out on. The locker rooms are very nice. They have basketball courts, racquetball, hot sauna, and all the equipment you need to work out either on a machine or with free weights. If you live in the area I highly recommend you check out this gym especially if you have kids. read more

I cancelled my membership back in March after being unemployed due to Covid. I was told it was cancelled only to discover they never cancelled and have been taking money out of my account this entire time. I called and spoke to the Gen.Mngr Scott Kenny who was not only rude and unprofessional, but did nothing to help. This has been the worst experience I have had with this club. Lifetime Fitness is the cream of the crop of gyms. I've tried other gyms on the north side and they just don't compare. You may pay a little more per month at Lifetime, but it is worth the extra few dollars if you're looking for more than just a treadmill and a few dumbells. This is quality. It has everything you could ask for and it's actually pretty easy to spend a few hours there if you want to. The experience starts right when you walk in the door where you see a full service salon and a Cafe for a pre or post-workout meal, smoothie, protein shake, gatorade, etc. The food is tasty, reasonably priced and for the most part pretty healthy. Then it's on to the locker room where you actually have a good size locker. No key necessary. Your membership card serves as your locker key. Other gyms a lot of times you have to bring your own lock and the locker rooms feel like an old middle school locker room. These locker rooms are clean and make you feel like you're in a nice hotel suite. There are even tanning beds and a steam room in the locker room. Did I mention free towels? From there, still on the first floor, you'll find the climbing wall, two full basketball courts, racquetball, squash, a lap pool,a leisure pool with indoor waterslides, hot tubs big enough for 20 and a sauna. For those with children, there is a family locker room and a great childcare center with computers, movies, games and a pretty cool jungle gym type deal. Now if you even make it to the second floor, there is a full range of free classes from real certified instructors. I recently started taking yoga classes on Monday and Thursday nights. Monday is fitness yoga and Thursday is heated yoga. The machines weights are organized in rows by the muscles you plan on training so it makes it easy to work a group of muscles. There is honestly a sea of treadmills, elliptical machines, stairsteppers, and cardio machines. There are a ton of free weights, two stretching sections and even personal trainers to help you're not sure what you're doing. Depending on what time of day you go, you may have to wait a minute to get on some of the equipment or just be cool and take turns. The parking is sometimes a hassle and is really my only complaint. All those other gyms are closer to my home, but I've been going there for over 7 years now for a reason. read more

It's really not just a gym, it's a whole family. My son and I have been members for about a year now, all throughout Covid. Even though with limited capacity, all but the pool slides has been open and running, and I really enjoyed being able to sit in the hot tub and the steam room after my workouts. Apparently, this is the only Lifetime location here with a steam room, so that's a BIG bonus in my book! Unfortunately, Covid has also kept us away from the gym for several extended periods of time, and well... need I point out bikini season is upon us now? So I've decided to go the route of personal training. Rather than just going with any trainer that happened to email me as a new member, I decided to check with management cause I had specific ideas and wanted the best. And the best I got! I've been training with Chris Savage, and he's putting me through bootcamp! Which is exactly what I had asked for. No day is the same, and we do workouts I could have never thought up myself. It's plain obvious that he knows exactly what he's doing and he has an answer for virtually everything. I'm seriously impressed with his knowledge about everything that concerns your body and health, and how my body has already changed in a very short time. Plus, he's super easy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable (even if you can't do one freaking pull-up, he still manages to make you feel good). Very supportive. Great professional. Amazing person. If you're looking for personal training, he's the one. Request Chris. The Spa. Can't say I'm entirely impressed with the massage therapist I've had, but I did find the best hair stylist! If you are looking to get a complicated cut (or an easy one) and you just don't know who to trust, she's the one! She'll make sure you're happy. She's trained in Germany, and well, they go through 3 years of full-time training until they're allowed to officially practice. And she has many years experience. Thumbs up for DJ, she's amazing! I've had many many hair-butchering experiences, and I guarantee that she will do perfectly exactly what you want. Tip her well! :) And I haven't had a mani/pedi there, but I do want to get that done, because I've watched them and they look like they know what they're doing. But why wouldn't they? LifeTime Fitness is the best gym ever! I was a member before for some years and moved out of state temporarily. I came back and joined other gyms that were closer to where I lived. They were ok but they didn't measure up to LifeTime. I was spoiled. I decided to go back to LifeTime regardless of the 40 to 45 minute drive time because it is totally worth it. I recently got connected with a trainer Chris Savage to achieve some fitness and health goals. Chris has been amazing! After 1 day of training with him, there was a difference in my results already by following his instructions. I believe with his help that my goals will be reached and I am grateful for his help. After years of trying multiple gyms, Lifetime manages to pull ahead of the competition by being "all things to all people", especially families. Our kids have been members for their entire lives, starting with an infant room you can trust, moving to a multi-level childcare and climbing wall and now graduating to a youth membership and spending most of the time on the basketball court and the pool. I have not found a comparable childcare with a movie area, a junior basketball court and obstacle course and a computer lab under one roof. Good option for 5-7 birthday parties, particularly swimming in winter and rock climbing. For adults - every weight lifting machine, treadmill and elliptical imaginable. Solid line-up of classes, including early morning and later evening. Added quite impressive advanced hot yoga lately as well. Even better - our family friends from neighboring states also have memberships, which gives you an excellent half day of activities during visits. I wish Lifetime network was wider and closer in Carmel, but an addition of a "Light" version gym on North Meridian helped a bit. The Cafe is pricey, but has legitimately healthy post-workout options. Just beware of Mocha shakes - too addictive for kids and adults. read more

While I don't really come here to work out, at least currently, it's a fantastic gym. They have been remodeling for about a year which is a little bit bothersome, but the changes have been worth it. Lifetime literally has everything. Lap pool, sauna, tanning beds, kids pool, hot tubs, water park slides, outdoor pool, huge womens dressing/locker room with showers and seating area, salon, massage rooms, huge upstairs gym with free weights, machine weights, cardio, and TONS of yoga, pilates, zumba, and fitness classes. Oh, and a rock climbing wall, two full basketball courts, racket ball area, and child care. Child care. The membership is worth the price just because of the child care. The staff knows my little girl by name and for $9.00 extra a month, I get 2 hours of DAILY child care. Usually I end up dropping her off to play while I sit in the cafe with a cup of coffee or a smoothy and do some work. It's awesome. The food is light and healthy and good. I am positively addicted to the Asian tuna wrap. read more

While membership is a bit expensive (almost $100 a month for our family), we enjoy all the benefits of a membership to Lifetime Fitness. The biggest perk for us has been the babysitting/kids' area, complete with a huge tunnel/slide system, play area for young children, and computers for the older kids. That alone would make membership worth it, but the fact that this place is open 24 hours is a huge deal for us, since my husband is able to go after work, which for him is at about 2 a.m. He says it's a great time to go ... not many people there. Of course, I think that's nuts. I can't even imagine going that late (early). I used to go before work when I worked at 9 a.m. Now that my sked has shifted to a 7 a.m. start time, I find it a bit hard to make it over there early in the morning. I love the machines, and there isn't a wait usually. I also love this little stretching machine near the top of the stairs. I have lower back issues, and if I could, I'd steal one of these machines to take home. It feels so good to sit there and s t r e t c h out those muscles, both before and after a good workout. A few years ago, I worked with a personal trainer. She pushed me very (very) hard. I'm still not convinced she didn't push me too hard (my knees seriously are screwed up since then). She was expensive, but it was nice to have someone pushing me to do what I needed to do. read more

Lifetime Fitness's location in Castleton on Indy's northeast side is top of the line. There are so many fitness machines, I've never seen even half of them filled on a busy night. (And they provide anti-bacterial wipes all over to clean off the machines, as well as plenty of clean towels to catch the sweat!) it feels nice and clean. They offer many classes from weight training to Zumba to yoga and more, with just about everything except workshops and Pilates being part of your membership. They offer swim lessons for kids and adults and have a nice lap pool, as well as both indoor and outdoor "play" pools. There are basketball courts with open and organized play, as well as racquetball and squash courts. They also have a nice climbing wall. They offer a large whirlpool, sauna and steam room. One thing I really like is their upscale dressing and shower facilities. Towels and provided, as are shampoo and hairdryers. It's like a mid-range spa at a hotel-oh, and the do have an onsite spa for massages, nails and haircuts, too! Their cafe offers healthy food options (although I've found some of the staff in that area to be a bit clueless). I understand they have a fine childcare facility as well, although our son is 12 and therefore old enough to work out with us upstart on the machines. My husband and I are currently doing a weight loss challenge, which is cool. We all enjoy this place, including our son. Our other fitness facility experience was at the Fishers YMCA, which is nice, but extremely busy. We used to have to sign up to use the fitness equipment, which was really inconvenient. Lifetime has satellite facilities at 116th and I-69 in Fishers and at 96th and Meridian, which is nice. I wish they would add one near 96th and Michigan Road so there was an option near my work! No matter what your size, condition or age, you can feel comfortable here-people come in, do their thing, and leave. Definitely NOT a meat market atmosphere. People are just looking to get or stay healthy. All in all, this is a top-notch facility worth the extra money. read more

The gym itself is great (only reason they get 2 stars) but the staff leave something to be desired. They changed their hours to open at 4am which is fine but rarely open the doors on time so you have days where you are standing in the rain for 10 minutes while you wait for some guy to open the door. They all act like we owe them for doing their job and listen to them make snide remarks about the patrons since they apparently have never been given any real customer service training. This point is only supported by the fact that when you do complain you are lucky to get a response let alone a resolution. read more

I work here and I would like to say how amazing our members are! I got a job here because I wanted the Life Time experience but couldn't afford it as a 23 year old. Best decision! I work first thing in the morning and have met such amazing people! I don't mind waking up at 4 am when I get to see the members. I will happily keep people on track and I love getting to know everyone and their lives! I received multiple Christmas presents from members. I have made amazing relationships with the members. It is a fun place to work and I have lost 6 lbs since working here. I love all this gym has to offer. The pool, hot tub, sauna and workout classes are great. However, the trainers always want you to join their paid classes and then keep bothering you after you come to a free one or try it for awhile. (I get it is their livelihood but if I say I'm not interested then the contacting should stop.) The locker room was never very clean but there were always towels. read more

I was a member of this gym when I lived in Indianapolis and my family is still members of this gym. I was visiting for the holidays and I tried to go workout with my dad on his guest pass. We were not allowed in, even when we offered to pay to workout, because guest hours end at 9pm. I thought that it was very rude that the host did not have the latitude to allow us to work out, given our history of membership and the fact that I am visiting for the holidays. read more

I've been a lifetime member for many years in the Washington DC area. But my interaction at this gym infuriated me. Upon my arrival I was told that out of town members would not be allowed to enter until 9 am this really did not fit into my schedule and being a 24 hour gym and arriving at 6 am I didn't think it would or should be an issue (there was almost no one in the gym). At the end of the interaction I was told to come back at 9 even after explaining I wouldn't be able to and spending money on an Uber ride from downtown Indy. After 15 years of dedicated membership and then our reducing membership to the $10 maintenance agreement while we decided if we wanted to continue, then cancelling because the drive was just to far from our house, they hit my final month for $105. When I called, they were cold and non-understanding ... simply quoting the cold - uncaring - corporation "regulations' that they had told me via email .... Forgive me for not reading every email that was sent by LTF. You could have made a concession, or even acted like you cared, after all the years of faithful membership. Keep the $105; hopefully this warning will convince enough people to cancel their membership, or not join in the first place. Customer demand can and does help companies learn the value of customer satisfaction. read more

This is the worst gym I've ever been to. I'd rather go to the ymca than go here. The workers are astoundingly unhelpful and they are a money hungry business. I came in to cancel my membership because I wasn't using it, very simple, and I was unfortunate enough to meet with Jordan who gave me coupons to get me to stay. When I told her I didn't have the time or motivation and would just like to cancel, she told me I had to come back next week (this was in February). I was then charged for the month of March and I called and spoke to Logan who refused to reimburse me but we schedule a meeting so I could cancel the membership. I came in on the scheduled day and he wasn't there. I came back the next day and he still didn't show, so I left a note and signed it that I was done and the membership was to be canceled. I later got an email stating it was canceled, but I would be charged for April. I emailed back stating that was unfair and I was ignored. So I called my bank and had to cancel my credit card so I wouldn't continue to get robbed. Long story short, the worst communicators on Earth and the worst gym. Any gym anywhere is better. read more

I was a non believer. No way in hell, I thought, is any gym membership worth over $40. Lifetime fitness has met all expectations. Child care facility is amazing. My son is excited to go. I love this gym. It's spacious and has so many different amenities. I like the fact that there's a salon there and you could get your hair done or a manicure as well as get an amazing workout. The only reason I give less than 5 stars is due to the attentiveness of the childcare area. It's a great area. Lots to do. But I have found that there is not enough attention paid to the older kids. My kids have been punched and picked on without any of the care givers knowing about it. It worries me. If you have small kids they seem to be on top of that. Older kids, however, seem to have not as close attention. I suggest checking on them intermittently. They have never been "in danger" but I have not felt that my older children 6 and 8 are very well watched over. read more

I like the gym but not the way it is managed. Things to note when you are joining the gym: 1. When i walked in to take a tour, i was said they have a special discount for signing up which ends the same day. I did rush and sign up for the gym only to later realize that the promotion was back again a few months later. Beware of this selling tactic. 2. LT Bucks - Read the fine print before signing. I was said i could use LT Bucks for almost anything in the gym and $1 in real world = $1 LT Bucks. I signed up for group training which was offered for a discounted price, my instructor was not aware of LT Bucks and i ended up using my credit card for billing, when i asked the staff to switch billing to LT Bucks, they were reluctant and said i will have to pay double the amount if i use LT Bucks. I had to call in several times and finally they agreed to charge the same amount when i use LT Bucks. The person who i spoke to said it was my fault that i did not read the fine print. Apparently LT Bucks can be used as per Buck store chart and everything on the chart is overpriced compared to how much you would pay if you just used a credit/debit card. Makes no sense to me!! 4.They can't seem to keep good trainers for a long time. 3. No timely response when you call - I tried calling the General Manager Kenny and i had to leave him 3 voice mails and contact the main office before he got back to me. Delayed response seems to be very common among staff members. read more

While it's a great facility they are lacking of class selection. If I am paying that much money for the membership, I'd expect more selection. I have moved from NC where our YMCA's are exceptional. We would have up to 25 classes to choose from each day and not to mention at a way lower cost. Here at lifetime there are no good options in the mornings, no options for lunch, and the group fitness members don't seem to care too much and accommodate. Not sure if their budgets are low, or these are the standards for Indiana, but definitely not what I am used to. Paying way more and getting back only a fraction of what I am used to. It's like a resort in the middle of the city! They have racquetball courts. Good clean facility with numerous fitness classes. The cafe has awesome healthy food choices and all very tasty, and an in house spa facility. I've Ben a member for over ten years and never get tired of working out or swimming there. It is always clean in all areas, including the locker room where other clubs can get a little dank.
