I have been a member of Lifetime Fitness for over 20 years (based at the Plano and Allen facilities) For a place that calls itself an "Athletic Country Club" with the continually increasing prices to match, this place does not live up to the moniker. In particular, as a customer of the Allen Spa I have never understood why the spa did not have it's own bathroom facility. Massages, facials, and hair appointments frequently take a while. It is reasonable that someone would want to use the restroom before, during or after a service. The idea that you have to walk across the entire facility to the locker rooms for their 5 aged and sad looking stalls in the ladies locker room seemed ridiculous and potentially embarrassing. So the "brilliant" answer was using the much closer "family" bathroom in the "family" locker room. That was workable, but certainly not a great answer. And now they have decided that Spa clients are no longer allowed to use the "family" bathroom. I do not know the real reasons why, but I assume it has something to do with not being a "family." Locked out! So we are now fully expected to trek our foiled, caped and oily bodies across the very large and very public facility to those previously mentioned locker rooms. I know of no country club that would expect its members to parade around in such a manner, nor inconvenience their hard working stylists and therapists with a bathroom so very far away. I really wish the Lifetime would fix this situation. It makes visiting the Spa stressful rather than Zenlike and peaceful....which is how a spa should feel. read more

I will NEVER go to this location again. If only the the rest of the staff was as friendly as the front desk staff. I trained with Anna Hubbard and honestly she is probably the rudest person I have ever came into contact with. She didn't pay attention to me while I was performing an exercise, she made rude and amuse comments about OTHER members (almost making fun of the way they were exercising), and she had this whole attitude towards me like she was BETTER than me. I first thought it was my imagination but after speaking with several other members regarding my experience they only CONFIRMED my HORRIBLE experience. I never give bad reviews but after almost leaving in tears because she commented on my weight and how there was no wonder why I am the size I am, I will NEVER be visiting this location again. read more

I've been a member of Lifetime Fitness for over 10 years, but in the past 3-4 years, it has seriously gone downhill. It started with the price increases while cutting hours--no longer 24 hours, now closing at midnight. Then it became clear that basketball is no longer a priority compared to pickleball. In the summers, kids aren't allowed on pickleball courts, yet an entire basketball court is taken for summer camps, overcrowding the gym. We all know why that is. Another issue: for years, I've been bringing my daughter with me in the evenings while I work out, since I work during the day. She'd do her own little workout, then I'd hit the sauna while she swam. No problems for two years--until now. Suddenly, without warning, staff decided she couldn't be in those areas, even though I've seen plenty of other kids, the same age as her, in the same spots with no issue. The difference? My skin tone is darker than most members. Staff singled us out, sent an entire team to remove her, making her cry and feel like she did something wrong--when she didn't. Management, is terrible. As if they would have said these rules years ago and implied them wouldn't been a problem but to just now seems like we are being singled out. The staff is rude, and the way things are run now is disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this place unless they start making real changes. read more

I've been a loyal Lifetime member for 15 years, regularly using the salon for hair services--and today, I was told I'm no longer allowed to use the nearby restroom inside the salon. Why? Because it's now designated as a "family restroom," meaning salon patrons like myself are expected to walk across the entire facility to the locker room just to use the bathroom. Let me get this straight: I pay for services in your salon, but I'm denied access to the most convenient restroom because I don't have a child with me? That's not just inconvenient--it feels discriminatory. If this is truly a new "corporate policy," then Lifetime needs to install a restroom inside the salon, period. Especially considering there are four massage rooms in the salon and only one is even in use! To make matters worse, when I tried to voice my concerns to management, Jorge--the manager on duty--literally grabbed his stuff and walked out of the building. No explanation. No conversation. Just dipped out. That's not leadership--it's avoidance. After 15 years, this is beyond disappointing. Lifetime, do better. I will definitely not be recommending lifetime to future clients or friends. read more

My husband is a Premiere member the Allen club. I have been a client of the Allen Spa for 18 years. I get my hair done about once a month. I am a senior citizen who wants to lodge a complaint that there is no restroom available in the spa. The nearest restroom is by the swimming pool, but I would have to traverse a slippery floor to get there. The other option is at the complete opposite end of the facility, but I do not like walking through the gym with dye on my hair, eyebrows, etc. The spa used to let us have access to a nearby family restroom, but they have recently changed their policy and have locked us clients out. I find this unacceptable in a facility like Life Time. Please create a place for spa clients to have easy access to a restroom. read more

I would not join again. Joined for pickleball and all was well for two months. I could go and play, and always find a game just about anytime of day. Facility was perfect for two months. They would fill up occasionally but could still get a game daily. This week they changed the times for pickleball with no notice. Removing almost 80% of the open play slots or restricting them by age, level, ect. Now I am unable to play with the new highly restricted schedule and still have to pay them $200 for the next month even though courts will not be available to me. Felt like it was a reasonable request to cancel my membership without having to pay for next month since they are the ones that made the gym unavailable to me. I have spoke to corporate and they are unwilling to do anything and said I must pay the $200 to cancel even though I had no say or notice of schedule changes. Don't think that is the right way to treat your members IMO. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Most pools have an overflow channel which collect excess water that ends up on the perimeter. Lifetime doesn't have this. The floor ends up slippery and unsafe. I also saw a lifeguard take a squeegee broom and push the water back into the swimming pool. Anyone who wishes to use the sauna must walk around the perimeter of the pool. Whatever dirt that was on their shoes will end up back in the pool. I've seen dirt in the hot tub. The swim coaches don't teach anything about technique. As a previous age group record holder, I can tell what looks right. More than half the kids there had improper form that will later lead to injury. Not once when I was watching did I see the coaches correct them. All I saw was interval training where if you didn't swim fast enough, you'd have to get out and do pushups. That is a recipe for injury. This is just what happens at the pool. I don't even want to know what happens on their pickleball courts. All I know is that 2 people had to be wheeled out in the same week because they got injured on the court. read more

This gym is beyond amazing. It is not cheap, but if you can afford it, it is completely worth it. They have every amenity that could possibly be offered. There are even disposable razors and shaving cream in the dressing/locker room. Mouthwash, soap, lotion, etc... A new eucalyptus steam room in the dressing room also. The free weight area is not huge, but is also not too busy even during peak hours. The resistance machines are in outstanding condition or even new. The cardio options are immense. Clean, clean, clean. Luxury everywhere you look. You cannot top this gym. When my wife and I first visited this gym, we were greeted by Jennifer. She was and is , amazing. Super friendly and extremely informative of every aspect the gym had to offer. All of the staff are very professional and friendly. There is a salon inside, a chiropractor and massages available. Pool Area is unbeatable. Olympic pool, hot tubs, giant outdoor swimming area with water slides, lounges, umbrellas,... you name it, they have it. Just ask for Jennifer. She will assist you through the process and lift your spirits just with her positive energy. read more

We have been members for over 10 years. In that time the prices have continued to climb with access to fewer services. Outdoor Pool access = more. Pickleball court reservation = more. Additionally, the aquatics area is poorly managed. The staff tend not to have the same information regarding general club guidelines. Also, there is no oversight regarding appropriate age use for the outdoor hot tub nor appropriate use of the lap lanes in the outdoor pool. We have had many years of great experiences and they have kept the facility in good overall shape. Pros: Awesome spacious dry sauna and whirlpools. Two large well maintained indoor heated pools. Plenty of weight machines, treadmills, and ellipticals. Friendly customer service. Always have fresh clean towels. Lockers have modern combo locks. Cons: The membership price $190 for wife and I, is too high given below issues: Not enough weight benches to do free weights in busy time. Mens locker room shower area is consistently dirty. Showers drop down drains aren't being maintained, strong swampy smell coming from them. Steam room works half the time and you have to get help to fix the button. read more

I have been a member of LifeTime since 2009. My husband has been a member since 2007. There WERE things that was use to love about this location when we moved here in 2020 because it really fit our lifestyle, schedule, and the amenities were great. However, with the cost going up the quality of service and members has gone down. Women bringing their son's into the all women's locker room (in spite of signs), class schedule changing so that I can no longer attend, general members treating staff so poorly, and the gross hygiene practices of some is a health hazard. Some of these variables are outside the control of LifeTime, but the cost doesn't match the decrease in value and quality of the gym. Having older equipment (that does not always work), the décor is old and worn, nickle-and-diming for EVERYTHING and all of the great classes, people having sex in the parking lot, taking out basketball courts for barely used pickleball courts, etc. There is so much more. However, I am really hoping that the cost stabilizes and becomes more reasonable, otherwise we may have to take our business elsewhere. Presently, I am not seeing the value that matches increase in the fees. read more

You don't just join Life Time Fitness for the gym. You join for the experience. We've all seen the movies where someone has the country club membership and spends lots of time there. Well, that's Life Time. You can spend a day here easily. They have incredible workout machines, a great and friendly staff, and the amenities are awesome. There's even a hair salon. The childcare facility is pretty great also. My kids don't like getting dropped off, but they don't mind being dropped off at Life Time. In the summertime we usually end up with a pool visit. The indoor pool has slides and a kid section. There's also a lap pool for those that want to get serious. Speaking of pool visit, the outside pool is something you don't want to miss. It's like a Vegas resort feel to it, except that it has kids. Yeah yeah I know, kids kinda throw off the vibe, but not really since I have kids. There are speakers around the perimeter of the pool and the staff is on point. I'm a lover of the coed sauna and spend a lot of time there. Unlike some of my other gyms memberships, the sauna is never out of order. I love ending my workout with a lot of heat. It just feels right. This place is huge and I gotta be honest, I'm yet to try a lot of the activities they have. I'd like to eventually try the yoga and the bike classes, but as always with the gym, it's easy to make excuses. I've never had a trainer from Lifetime, but I've heard they are pretty awesome. I watch them sometimes and they are very dedicated to thier trade. Again I will say. This is the gym you want to join and not go to. It's not priced to be forgotten. I don't feel comfortable bringing my children to the Family Locker Room because people without children use it to walk through all the time. There is a sign on the door -- but the front desk being right there sadly doesn't even enforce it. The other day a man (with no child) was showering in a family locker room. That's disturbing. If you address this concern to them in person or in e-mail they don't respond and nothing is done. People walk through this locker room all the time. Seems like every 10th person just walks through it. Unfortunately, if you address it to their staff they say they can't enforce it. Maybe the staff is too young to do anything about it -- and it's a generational thing. I don't know. But if they had kids, I'm sure they'd be be bothered by it and do something about it. I've talked to other parents about it at the gym too, and they're uncomfortable with it as well. According to their rules, you can't allow children of the opposite sex in the adult locker rooms, but apparently it's not enforceable for adults (without children) to walk through a child/family locker room. Makes no sense. Just looks like laziness on the staff's end, to a seriously potential problem. Real easy to fix -- make a sign more visual than tinted font, and make sure members understand the repercussions -- that's how country clubs enforce their policies. read more

This review is for Coach Courtney Goeas at Allen Lifetime Gym. I do various workouts ranging from HIIT to power lifting to cycling, which caused me to have tight muscles. I have been looking for a stretch specialist and tried out various places like StretchLab and other stretch flexologists at Plano and Frisco Lifetime. I found Courtney through a 30 min complementary stretch session that Lifetime offers at the Allen location and she's the absolute best! She really knows how to work the body and I feel so flexible and mobile after my session with her. Highly recommend if you are looking for a personal trainer or some recovery/rest day stretch sessions! She does both. read more

This used to e a 5 star fitness center. But poor management and indifferent staff have ruined it. Nowadays you're likely to find lots of equipment that is broken. And when you point it out to the trainers they say they'll take of it. But they don't. For three days in a row I pointed out two broken treadmills to two different trainers. Nothing was done. They're still broken. The trainers only care about sucking money out of you for their specious advice. Plano and Garland have a much better staff and I wouldn't hesitate to work with some of the trainers there. Avoid the McKinney Allen location. They flat out stopped giving a damn about service. UPDATE April 2018: none of the above has improved. But they've gotten worse. Now they have "personal trainers" like 'Angel' who waste your time in a fitness assessment and training by nagging you constantly to buy their personal nutrition plan, products and training that are not related to Lifetime Fitness. There's nothing like having a clean towel without having to hit the showers. I know of other fitness centers that'll only provide towels if you use their showers. + 1 star: Large facility with plenty of fitness options. I know it's their sales team, but customer service-wise, they need to update their files accordingly and not waste my time. Lifetime is probably one of the best fitness centers in the area and I absolutely love it. It has everything including a pool (indoor and outdoor), spa, FIVE basketball courts, racquetball courts, rock climbing wall, free weights, workout machines, yoga rooms, fitness classes, massage area (costs extra) and a cafe. If you plan on coming here often and using all or most of the facilities provided, then this place is well worth your money. However, if you only plan on doing a few things, (for example, you're just looking for a gym where you can do weight training and that's it) then I'd suggest looking for another gym, as Lifetime is pricey and won't be worth your money if you only use one part of its huge facility. read more

I have been a personal trainer for over 15 years as well as a BJJ youth teacher for 5 years and from what i see on the kids martial arts class the teachers not even competent to use a can opener let alone train people's children , they lack the fundamental basic building blocks of how to be an instructor I would probably have more confidence in a homeless blind man then I do with those instructors for example you never try to get kids under the age of 12 to do clapping push-ups when they can't even do a full push-up and if I have to explain why that's such a bad idea then you're not qualified either . i expected way more from the most expensive gym in the nation I don't recommend this gym unless you have free money just got your Botox done and like walking with your nose sticking up high and don't care about your children but if you meet that qualification it's a great gym read more
