Came in on New Year's Eve, eve 12/30 to pre order a half Peking duck for new years Eve pick up. There were two old men, one sitting in the corner on his phone, the other sitting in front of the steam table. I came in, speaking Vietnamese asking to pre order/request half a Peking since they run out pretty quickly. One uncle was very pushy and kept insisting I order a Whole bird. I said no no, just half I'll pay for it tomorrow. He kept pushing and then yelled at the man in the corner, who never turned around to acknowledge me to help push the sale. They were nice if you already knew what to get without asking questions and especially if you could speak their language. I was dieting (Keto) and needed something to get me through the 3.5 hour lecture I was about to do. Decided that I just wanted some meat, specifically crispy pork belly. After some searching I settled upon this place. It's exactly what you would expect of a BBQ Deli. A little run down, nobody speaks english, with people cutting all over the place. Went here for the first time today. Lien Hoa BBQ Deli is your typical Asian hole in the wall to-go spots for bbq pork (char siu), bbq duck and steamed chicken, etc. You'll see ducks hanging down from the heated lamps and roasted crispy pork too. It's located in a relatively large strip mall so it's hard to miss - plenty of parking. We ordered the bbq pork to go - $4.49 per pound which is relatively cheap considering you're getting a pound of meat. They'll ask if you want it chopped or leave it whole. We got it whole and tried it at home and was very disappointed. The meat was tough and dry (char siu should always have some level of fattiness to it) and the sweet flavor wasn't all there. I tasted the five spice and that was it. Really disappointed at this place but I should have known better considering all the other negative reviews. We'll stop by one more time here to try the duck and steamed chicken - maybe they'll taste better than the bbq pork. read more

Located in a huge Asian strip mall, just east of the 405 freeway is this Chinese/ Vietnamese BBQ deli. Their specialty is the duck and the roast pork. Normally I visit the other location off Bolsa, which is much larger, but I was heading toward Westminster and this was on the way. I had a craving for the roast pork, and at 5:15 pm, I walked in and all they had was 3 hanging roast ducks and roast pork spareribs. As I was the only one in the store, I wasn't sure what to do. Do I buy something? Do I walk out? I kept asking the old guy "No more roast pig?" He replied "No more, sold out. Next time, come early". But... it was 5:15, not even dinner time. Sighing I took about 1/4 of a pound of the spareribs. I actually took it back to my car and scarfed it down. The meat was delicious, but a tad salty. I want to give the place 4 stars for the excellent food, but it was truly slim slim pickings at 5:15. Perhaps it was a Monday and they know its not as busy? Got one whole soy sauce chicken, one whole duck and a pound of roasted pork. I usually like to debone the chicken for my kids to eat more easily and so glad I did just that. Upon deboning I found a piece of metal which is usually used for cleaning grills in the chicken meat. This can be extremely dangerous if ingested. Not sure how the hygiene of this place is but the service and attitude of the man working at the front need adjustment also. What's Good: a whole Roasted Duck (Vit Quay), a pound of Roasted Pig (Heo Quay), and pound of Char Siu BBQ Pork (Xa Xiu) will be a great meal for a family of 4 or a couple with leftovers for the next day. If you don't specify a choice for the Roasted Pig, it'll be an assortment - ask for the Rib Belly (ba roi) for the good stuff. Don't forget the French Bread (banh mi) to go with the meats. The Rice Vermicelli (Banh Hoi) and Bao Buns (Banh Bao) are good pairings as well. All are found on the storage racks while standing in line. Carb + Meat + the orange sauce they give you or the Roasted Duck sauce = Vietnamese soul food. I drool just thinking about it. Don't know why this place got such low review. I went get roast duck around 9 am on Sunday and the owner let me choose whatever duck I want. He showed me which rice vermicelli is still warm and new, and put a lot of sauce in the duck for me without me even asking. The duck is so fresh and yummy. There are a few Lien Hoa BBQs around Westminster, this being the smallest and doesn't have as many different types of items on sale. The one off Bolsa is bigger. Still, the BBQ pork and roast duck are both pretty good. They understand English fairly well. If you buy a whole duck and you're a little wary of having to chop the thing up, just ask them and they'll do it for you. Same goes for the cha siu. There is also pre-packaged fresh rice noodles (fun) on sale too. Try to go in the morning. There isn't as large a selection come afternoon. read more

This place had Peking ducks on Thanksgiving, unlike the other bigger location on Bolsa. I was told to come to this location after unsuccessfully securing a Peking duck for my family. The other location had plenty of roasted duck but no Peking-style roasted duck. What gives? This place is only 2 miles from the Bolsa location so it was no biggie to drive over. The parking lot was a lot larger and off of a less busy street. The Peking duck was only $15, not bad. I only bought one but the lady who came in after me bought 3. Holy cow, happy Thanksgiving to her family. They also offer to roast your turkey Peking-style as well for $20; of course, you need to provide your own. If you don't then the turkey is $65.
