So, It has been a couple of months now, and they have improved a bit. They are still a terrible supermarket, but if you think of the place as an oversized convenience store they are fairly ok. The selection has gotten much better. It is still almost entirely their own brand, but they have the basics covered now. Just look closely as they like to bait and switch. They recently rearranged their coldcuts. So, where there was Hillshire farms ham, there is now Lidl's own brand in a nearly identical container. Everything is still there they just move everything around once in a while. Moving on to their store brand: it's a gamble. In the same isle they will have some of the best ice-cream in town, and frozen pancakes that little children will spit out. Produce, great. Meat, gross. Frozen fish, excellent. Fresh bread, excellent. Pizza, school cafeteria pizza. Chips, good if sometimes a bit odd. This is a good place to shop if you just need to stop in for the bare minimum basics. And the floorplan is clearly designed for this. One loop around the outer U shape will bring you right past some rather good salads, produce, deli, cheese, dairy, frozen ready meals (a mixed bag), and deserts. This is clearly the right kind of store for someone, but that person is not someone who likes to cook. read more

The prices are low, especially so by Hamptons standards and the store is clean with a good selection of bakery products at great prices. The quality of the produce is good and there is a decent organic selection of products. Some of the sale prices are truly exceptional, at 50% or more off previous low prices. The range of products is not encyclopedic (no horseradish for example) but perfectly adequate. Checkout is efficient, I have never had to wait more than 3 minutes in the checkout line. I think it's a great addition to this part of the Hamptons and it's easily my preferred grocery store in the area. read more

Very disappointing. Second rate tier of everything, very few name brands and very little choice. No fresh prepared foods, especially salads or meats. Too much junk at the back of the store. Been there twice and not going back unless in an emergency if I need butter or eggs. King Kullen in Eastport or at exit 70 will be my go to place to shop. It's worth a few extra minutes drive as you can get what you went in for. They should have followed the model of the Best Market they replaced. Doubt they will survive this market. I have not heard anyone give a thumbs up. Best Market where are you?????????? Bill L. read more

Prices are far too high. If getting meat do not waste your time here, way overpriced and the quality is terrible. Horrible selection of fruits / vegetables, they're either spoiled when you buy them or 1 day away from being spoiled due to mishandling of inventory. All around just a terrible grocery store. read more

I live in Quogue and just visited the new Lidl store in Westhampton. A huge disappointment. The staff was not knowledgeable of their items. The pre-cut cold cuts were expired. The raspberries were molded. The complete layout of the store makes you feel like you're in a dollar store for food. It's so sad that this store was permitted to open in this community. I will definitely not be visiting again. Let's not support this store so hopefully they will go elsewhere!!! read more

Vacationing with friends, feared that groceries in the Hamptons would cost a fortune. We almost avoided Lidl because of the bad reviews. This place is great! It's true that it doesn't have everything, especially if you're shopping for a specific recipe. But it has high quality staples and yummy freshly-baked bread at good prices. The people who work here are nice and helpful. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. All the products are low quality, taste like gasoline. This store needs to close this month so the town can have a real supermarket. You cannot buy anything in this place. There's no brands other than there own which is not healthy. There's no deli counter. Everything is stuffed in dirty boxes. This store is a bad fit. We need a new supermarket ASAP. read more

Completely the wrong supermarket for this community. A disorganized, unpleasant space without name brand staples and missing the fresh, healthy basics and prepared food options of Best Market, or even King Kullen or Stop & Shop. Lidls prepared food, "deli", and baked goods are akin to what you'd find in a gas station convenience store. A bunch of random junk in bargain bins in the center of the store adds to the shabbiness. What were they thinking? read more

Got familiar with the disappointment of shopping without ever being able to get near half of the items on our list at Lidl in Center Moriches over the past year. Yeah, you can save some money, but we still have to hit up 2 or 3 other stores to make up for it. King Kullen for staple items, Costco for meat... Cue the opening in Westhampton. We're in between the two stores, so I figured we'd check it out. Square peg, meet round hole. The Lidl model is a misfit for the community, and the hubris of the organization to assume they will so drastically change consumer behavior is as deaf as it is dismissive. Same products as Center Moriches, only 50% larger and the same cheap five-and-dime items. I recognized some staff from the other store which was nice, and they are for the most part pretty friendly. I just feel bad that some shoppers showed appalling behavior to these frontline workers that are just trying to make a living. Best Market had it nailed with its great meat department and custom cuts, huge produce section, fresh made sushi, large deli selection, broad grocery choices, craft beers, etc. I recommend Shop Rite in Riverhead if you want a more familiar shopping experience at modest prices. It is also close to Costco so you can consolidate your shopping. read more

Best Market was soooooooo much better! Does not have what I need and the layout is weird and hard to figure out when looking for specific items. read more

Needed sourdough bread & bakery was promoted so I went. Had German sourdough but no slicers at bakery. Walked around, basically unappetizing. Nothing looked fresh or well refrigerated. I have never seen such tiny frozen shrimp. Few items I considered were non brand and had unnecessary/ unhealthy ingredients. Odd selection overall. I can accept that Best Yet may have been a dream and would welcome Waldbaums back. Hopefully, Lidl will not last long and a well balanced market will replace it. read more

I bought a bag of apples a few weeks ago and some were not good and I thought it just happened. Well again I went and the same thing happened 5 rotten apples in the bag. Also there was a man putting things in the freezers where frozen products are kept and he was blocking the whole isle and when I asked to get by he has a attitude. STAY AWAY. How come you can not give negative stars????? Would have given a negative billion read more

Almost all the produce I bought was rotten beyond belief. Nothing is fresh. Aisles are marked incorrectly and store not organized in any rational way. On the upside, if you are fine eating gummy candy for dinner there is a great selection - and that is actually fresh. read more

Worst Store ever can't believe they put this dollar store in WHB! It's a Communist store. Only one or two brands, foods mixed with flip flops and notebooks. I live in Quogue and have to drive to Lake Grove Whole Foods. We need a Whole Foods or Citarella. read more

At the beginning I posted a good review, attracted by the german beer and wurst but in little time, I became totally disappointed. I went today and only one cashier was needed because the store was empty. Will not last long, hopefully. read more

I went to Lidl's Westhampton for the first time today. I buy organic. They had organic but the selection was poor. I was able to get an organic roasting chicken but had little other meat options. I bought a few organic fresh vegetables but again the selection was poor and random. They did have my favorite organic whole grain bread and la Croix sparkling water. The only fresh flower choice was carnations. Prices were cheap. They appeared to sell a lot of random junk. May come here again if desperate for the occasional item. This is not a place for real grocery shopping. We need a Trader Joe's or a Whole Foods. read more

This is probably the worst supermarket I have ever been to. They don't carry any recognizable brands and the workers there are unhelpful. Prices are not even that good. Don't waste your time! There's a stop & shop 15 minutes away. read more

As I strolled through Lidl supermarket today trying unsuccessfully to find any brand name product I was looking for, a number of things struck me. I stood next to many customers who were muttering under their breath .... "what the f.... no Charmin, no bounty, no Dannon, no Thomas's English Muffin's!! I'm not sure what made me angrier. The fact that all of there knock off products were exact duplicates of the name brands in packaging. All they did was change the name slightly. I found this deceitful. As far as I can remember every Supermarket at this location for the past 25 years has sold Challah on Thursday and Friday for the Jewish Sabbath. When I sought out the store manage I was directed to a supervisor who did not know what Challah was. When I asked him where all of these non name brands come from he told me that the company is based in Germany and imports most products. He also said he wasn't happy he couldn't find the toilet tissue he likes. What Lidl was selling was not as good as the branded product for the environment!! It shouldn't be lost on any Jewish family shopping here that this German owned company does not sell Challah! For a real eye opener head over to produce to find the sickliest fruits and vegetables I have ever seen. You know that nice feeling you get when you walk past produce that is beautifully displayed, chilled and recently sprayed with water. It almost feels like the greens are still in the ground and growing! At Lidl the produce looks like it has been cramped into cardboard boxes and has spent too many weeks at sea. This place has got to go!!! The sooner the better. I for one will never step foot in this or any other LIDL. I hope you will follow my lead and help rid our community of this sad, sad excuse of a supermarket!! read more

I cannot believe this unappetizing, unattractive "dollar store meets discount grocer", supermarket. When you can find brand-name organic milk for your children, it only has a two week expiration date! When I point this out they go to the back to get a brand new case -only it has the same exact expiration date. Horizon Organic milk has a 6 to 8 week expiration date at minimum -always. All of the bagged organic fruit, when you can find it, always has one spoiled item in it because it was filled with condensation. Not sure why most of the bagged peaches apricots and lemons have bags filled with condensation moisture. why would the village approve a discount supermarket like Lidl to come to Westhampton Beach in the Hamptons. It is a known fact that people who vacation here, and those who live here full-time like myself, Look to shop with better quality name brand items. They only carry limited supermarket goods. So if you're looking to shop for a recipe or for special items -do not waste your time. read more

Now with over 150 locations in the US, it is clear that Lidl is here to stay. Whether or not they will be successful in Westhampton remains to be seen. We started shopping at the Lidl in Center Moriches over the winter. Our grocery bills cost us half of what we were paying at King Kullen without any major, noticeable differences. Unfortunately we will still need to go to King Kullen on occasion for certain items; horseradish, for example was something I couldn't find on my visit to Lidl yesterday. And while the steaks are prepackaged, they are organic and free range, and the quality is excellent. Most of the produce is organic as well at a fraction of the cost at local competitors. The store is clean, bright and fresh. If anything, Lidl will help booster the other small businesses in town when the customer can't find what they're looking for and need to seek it elsewhere; e.g. cheese from the cheese shop, fish from the seafood store, meat from the butcher, bread from the bakery. And I, for one enjoy the hard goods section and have found numerous useful items e.g. iPad and iPhone stands for my WFH setup, fish grilling basket, patio umbrella, car shade. read more

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. DO NOT SHOP THERE. Even 1 star does not emphasize how disappointing this establishment is. If I could give it zero stars I would. It is clear that the individuals scoring it high either work for Lidls or for some reason, unbeknownst to me, enjoy products that fell off the back of a truck over quality meat and produce. The store offers little to no brand name products. No deli counter, no fish counter, and no meat counter. It is impossible to find food that is even seemingly appetizing. I have sincerely considered protesting the existence of this store in WHB because it acts like a sore in our town. Best Market fulfilled all of our town's needs and wants. As a weekender, I look forward to enjoying meals filled with fresh produce, excellent seafood and meat. Lidl's is a disgrace to this town. It is so sad that this store with its dirty boxes, dollar store-esque style and expired products has taken the spot of such a wonderful establishment (Best Market is truly missed). I beg and plead with all local residents and visitors alike to NOT shop here. We need a grocery store that truly serves the community and its needs. This simply does not do the job. read more
