I like Lidl and Aldi's prices better, but King Kullen beats them both in terms of selection. King Kullen has rather a large selection of gluten-free items, including all manner of flours. I bake my own bread, because the majority of GF bread is overpriced and ridiculously tiny. The produce section is also quite large, and they nearly always have watercress! Again, some prices are rather higher than Lidl or Aldi, but definitely a much bigger selection. Another advantage of King Kullen is the deli. They have Boar's Head and a store brand, and good sale prices. I did have to wait at the counter for a bit until someone turned around and saw me. Another employee fled into the back when I approached the counter. Weird. I got a pound of turkey and a half pound of Swiss. The ready-made meatballs looked delicious, but nobody could tell me if they were made with breadcrumbs. Disappointing. I'm pretty sure that the big Italian meatballs do have breadcrumbs, but there were small teriyaki meatballs that might have been gluten-free. Couldn't risk it, though. Idk why they don't have ingredient lists. It's a large, bright, very clean store. Shelves are well-stocked and organized. Employees are helpful, although the fish guy seemed very surprised when I asked if they ever had fresh salmon burgers. He said they had frozen. In a box. Ah well. I can make them at home. GF breadcrumbs, fresh salmon, and Old Bay, in the food processor. Yum! King Kullen is also the only nearby source for Chobani coffee yogurt, so that's another reason to go. read more

I grew up on Long Island and remember King Kullen (though we shopped in the late, lamented Waldbaums more). It's great to shop in a full sized supermarket with a wide assortment of products again. It's a no er set up than Lidl, but also more expensive. The familiar brands are a plus. Not sure if the prices are good or not, but they're an improvement over Manhattan. Haven't tried the butcher or deli yet. Stay tuned. read more

Worst cashiers ever. Kid tells me "I'm closing" I say okay and recognize his shift may be over. I hop on another line with 6 people and look over to the kid who was "closing" and he's checking out another lady? Thanks for making me wait on a long while she gets instant service. read more

Psycho woman cashier doesn't belong in retail and especially doesn't belong at a register during Covid19 days. Rarely as in once every 12 years, use this store, but was told it is a bit quieter than a few others. It was reasonable there. Store was relatively clean. People friendly. Shelves neat considering the situation. Got to a register ran by a middle aged woman with grayish blond hair pulled back, and hesitated before putting anything down. Saw sticky dried white stuff on belt and a bit of sticky clear streak next. Now its not fear of pork or chicken running with salmonella.. no that's nothing. lol. Now you wonder is Covid19 stuck to that. Began to offer to scan and not put down when I pointed to the dirty belt, but before I could help with my scan away from the belt suggestion, the cashier was incensed. I will clean it if you like. Like some kind of angry slave or something. WTH? Wiped over it leaving the white junk on it and a filthy scanner. And she was so annoyed. Started passing remarks. Something like Sorry if its not to your satisfaction. And some other weird intonation and remarks. Obvious the whole super clean thing has been annoying her and I walked right into it.. so.. just thought next line.. I just kept my items in my arms, and left the cookies and went to the next register. Said no thanks. Antagonized she continued some mime like actions to someone. Next guy offered hand wipes for the card reader and was a pro for these weird times we are in, where we have become necessarily annoying to cashiers. As I left, the psycho cashier made a weird over smiling grin and mocking wave. So King Kullen, roll the tapes, your cashier is a passive aggressive person who has the filthiest scanner and conveyor belt I've ever seen. Naa, on second thought, thanks for keeping the supplies going to the communities you serve. I've always loved KK stores and felt they have a nice quality vibe that makes shopping in them a pleasure. It's just this one experience. I'll likely remove this review in a few weeks, if I haven't succumbed to Covid19 from that register. Big organic produce section. They carry Ithaca hummus in 5 flavors. Spacious aisles for COVID distancing. Clean. Lots of checkout lines, never wait more than a few minutes. I like this store! read more

HORRIBLE !! Customer service, no courtesy bring the machines and replace the rude people. Clerk was very rude today, would not tell me how much my items where and then when I said Thank you, wouldn't respond and I said to her again Thank you..( Crickets). I go to this location a lot and this made me want to stop going to this location, until they replace all the cashiers with machines and less attitudes. Do better and hire better people. A quick 5 Star Review for King Kullen in Eastport ...If I could give more stars I would ..My daughter is home sick and needed some fresh basil to settle her stomach. Unfortunately I arrived at closing. Not only did the manager let me in (even though the registers were all closed and counted) but he escorted me to the produce aisle and told me it's on him. Closest grocery store to my house. Been going there for years. Some items are pricey and others are lower than average. At the end of the day, I spend the same at other chains. If you want to save money; don't buy pre made or boxed foods. Fresh is best ! read more

It's amazing how people complain about a small store in the middle of no where! It's a great store that has everything you need when ever you need it. It has great customer service, name brand products, opens early so I can go before work and takes returns without a receipt, what more could you ask for? There's nothing better then a small store with a few choices and in and out. I hate huge stores with 100 brands and mile long lines! King Kullen is charming and it's the last of the small town USA we have around here. No complaints, if you want perfect, you're not shopping in the right store. Overpriced. Understocked. Overcrowded. Under staffed. My pet peeve with this location is they regularly have only 1 or 2 lanes opened staffed with usually incompetent teenagers. King Kullen, esp this particular branch in Eastport, NY really should shut down. I totally agree with the previous reviewer regarding how 'over-priced' and 'under-stocked' this store is! Unfortunately, it's the nearest grocery store for me and every time I 'must' shop here, (I only shop at this store only for the last min, urgent items), their products are horrible. Especially their produce section is super tiny and the organic produce section is almost non-existent and it's literally a rotten, mold zone that should be signed with 'DANGER'. The turnover rate of this store's produce items are so slow and virtually most tropical fruits, esp bananas, pineapples, kiwi, & melons are all rotten. Talking about the price, I compared their price to other bigger grocery chains (Stop & Shop, Best Market, etc), King Kullen's price for the same item is always 1.5 higher than the other grocery stores. If you can, AVOID this store at all cost and drive 10 mins to shop at 'Best Market' in Westhampton Beach or 'Stop and Shop' in Shirley. You will be glad that you did! You're welcome. read more

I'm guessing that some of the previous reviewers must work for Stop and Shop. Eastport King Kullen is the best that I've been to. Everyone is always very friendly and they treat me like family. They know me by name! The deli department is the best on Long Island in my opinion. read more

Everyone seemed helpful. Especially those behind the deli counter. All the deli salad items looked fresh. Checkout was fast and friendly. We come from an area with some high-end supermarkets. Considering the size of the store, this King Kullen is top-notch. read more
