I'm surprised this Stop & Shop has such low reviews, because I've had nothing but positive experiences here. Price wise, this is the best supermarket I've found in the area. It's still higher than non-hamptons locations, but there are always sales, and if you're a Stop & Shop card member you're constantly earning a few bucks off each time you use it. The produce, prepared food, meat and seafood sections are always well stocked with fresh options and decent prices. The store is well organized and clean, and it's easy to find most things you're looking for. If you can't find something, store staff is incredibly helpful and willing to check to see if they have it in stock. This location weirdly has been out of bloody mary mix for quite some time, but this was easy to check at their customer service section. The hot food selection has its share of deals as well. I got 12 shrimp cocktail for $5, 20 chicken nuggets for $5, four pieces of rotisserie chicken for $5. Where else can you score deals like that in this area? Nowhere. Don't let the low reviews deter you. This is a solid Stop & Shop. read more

I prefer to drive over 8 miles to shop here than at the ghastly Lidl in WHB. This a typical Stop & Shop, not any different from the one in my old Boston neighborhood more than 30 years ago. It's a clean, bright, well-organized store, with all the produce and other groceries you could possibly want. Including powdered coffee creamer. I mention this because Lidl, for whatever weird, inexplicable reason, only carries cold liquid creamer. Which drops the temperature of your lovely hot coffee. Pffft. Awesome selection, fair prices, easily navigable. Aisles were clearly marked, because they hadn't moved things around and failed to ALSO change the signs (yes, Lidl does that), which ensures an easy and quick shopping trip. read more

I like the store and it's layout. The prices are decent. The pharmacy is a little slow since the Rite Aid closed. Most of the staff are very nice. But the managers could use a customer service lesson. It wouldn't hurt to say hello and acknowledge the regulars that they see all the time. read more

The store is NOT clean. Just look at the floor & you want to leave. The digital coupons are a pain! they don't always load on your account. I have been overcharged numerous times at check-out, not only with digital coupons but with written prices on the shelves. read more

The store itself is pretty good but during this pandemic they are doing nothing to sanitize the shopping carts etc. people leaving their gloves in shopping carts and on floors because they are pigs and dont care about others is one thing, but the store manager should be making sure these are disposed of and that shopping carts are sanitized individually as other supermarkets and stores are doing. i will not be shopping there anytime soon. This Stop&Shop is huge and has a great selection of organic products. Unfortunately the layout is horrible. Our first time there and we couldn't find the bread. Produce selection is like a maze. Also the deli area is understaffed and the workers in that section are extremely rude. read more

I went back to this store hoping for a change for the better. Unfortunately this is not the case. I went to the deli-counter and was told that the deli was closed till 6 p.m. It was 2pm when this happened. I went to the Courtesy counter and asked the manager why the deli was closed. He said that someone called in sick. What a horrible reason to close the deli. Why not call someone in to work it even if the store has to pay overtime pay. So I went to King Kullen and got my cold-cuts. I made a phone call to Customer Service and made a complaint and was told that someone from Stop and Shop would get back to me within 24 hours. They didn't return my call so after 48 hours I called them. 3 operators gave me the run-around. The 4th operator was real good. So thanks again for the lip service. Your store is horrible. read more

This Stop & Shop location always has everything I need at reasonable prices. The layout is nice and it's a clean place, which isn't always the case at supermarkets. I always go to the self-checkout isles, so I can't comment on the cashiers, but the young lady that's usually supervising those registers is always pleasant. One downside is that there's typically an issue with one or more of the self-checkout machines. This tends to be the norm at Stop & Shops, unfortunately. Whenever I go, the store is never too crowded but I imagine it gets busier around holidays, which is typical. It's a bit out of the way for me, but I always like to go there when I'm in the area. read more

The manager? Customer service employee? Not sure what their role is but they aren't the warmest, could be more friendly and more helpful. Luckily stop and shop has the prices going to for them and is extra pretty now...Otherwise, I would go anywhere else. read more

Walter, the store manager at Stop & Shop at Hampton Bays tonite, was not only giving out wrong information about rebates, (as stated rebates had no limit- yet fine print stated one per household), yet when questioned regarding seeing the rebate form fine print with the rebate personally, he did not want me to see and read part of it. He, I believe should not be a representative of a company that is trying to get customers to shop at their stores, and should not have a very argumentative manager, yet manager should be sympathetic, especially after giving wrong information as to number of units a rebate is good for, nad should allow customers to read the fine print, before they purchased the products. Walter, who was disgruntled, made me wait for a few minutes before replying to my questions, as there were no other customers there before me. A manager should help, not escalate the situation, head off issues, and not try to escalate them, by saying things like "I told you so, that's why!" read more

What can you say about tho gigantic grocery store with a flower department? Great selection on most items, some items are missing when you have previously purchased there. Frustrating to go pick up and its just not there anymore. Best shopping experience when items are on sale. You need to know what days are best. Good deli dept. and some really great fresh baked bread. I like this store most of the time. I will continue to shop here! read more

While I'm not sure I'd go as far as saying it's a "highlight" of the Hamptons (even in the proverbial offseason) or that I'd ever find myself here 37x like Irina, I could certainly see the virtue in either statement if I lived closer. Judging by my single experience, this spot is certainly top of the line far as grocers go, including the added allure of the always-sticky bottle redemption area. Aisles are clean, shelves are well- and fairly-diversely-stocked, the normal S&S rules apply, and there is indeed a scan-as-you-go option that seems relatively painless. read more

I've only lived on Long Island for a year now, and this is the closest store to me. I absolutely hate it. There are only two employees that know what they are doing, the rest act like walking corpses. I have had pet rats smarter than most of the employees there, I'm not kidding. The atmosphere is okay, reminds me of a Publix that hit rock bottom. Shelves always have products on them, which is a plus. The people in there are horrible. I feel like I walked into a Chuck-E-Cheese. It is more calm in a zoo than in Stop and Sh**. read more

Always shopped there, but within the last few months (around the same time the Southampton location opened) they either have no selection or have expired/expired in a day things on the shelf. I look forward to going to the Hamptons every summer and this is one of the highlights of being here (especially compared to what we deal with in the city). Largest best supermarket I've ever been to. Spacious aisles. Nice people. So many options. A full section for vegans/gluten - free/everything particular. I was totally impressed by that. They have a deli with delicious tortellini salad (I finish the whole 1/2 pound container before we even get to the register). Honestly, I just love this place. read more

The Deli Department was so helpful. Had the biggest party I'd ever thrown for my son's graduation. We had a picnic theme. Mike, the deli manager helped me plan out the food so we'd have plenty. He even showed me ways to save money! Emma made the best piping-hot fried chicken EVER. Kathy at the bakery made the most beautiful, delish cake. I thought I'd have tons of food left over, just enough for the next day or two. I would recommend this store for all your party planning. They work just as hard on getting the every day stuff right also. I've never had a bad experience. read more

This WAS my favorite supermarket. On 1/4/11 approx. 6:00 pm there was only 1 check-out line available and the rest were the Self-Help check-out. I approached the #4 check-out counter only to be told by the cashier, Austin M., that he no longer would take customers and turned off his light. A minute later, another customer approached him (with more groceries than I had), he then turned on his light and proceeded to check her out. I understand that they were short handed that evening, even though the store was packed with customers and the Store Manager was on vacation. I felt the whole incident was unfair and uncalled for. I hope the Store Manager addresses the situation when he comes back from vacation and manages his cashiers better for a more pleasant experience. I want to commend the Deli Department, who had 1 woman on duty but who managed to communicate a pleasant attitude and get the job done with many people waiting. Thank you. Mariko P. read more

Placed catering order in the store to be picked up for luncheon. When I arrived, the order was not completed, it was very confusing and took an inordinate amount of time. Never Again. Next to me was a woman who had also placed an order in advance to be picked up at a certain time and her order was not complete as well. Terrible. Never again. read more

Had a very disappointing experience at this location Sunday afternoon. Was walking by dairy section when my left foot shot out behind me and I fell forward onto my two knees. I looked down and realized that someone had spilled a lot of milk -- which does not show up easily on white tiles -- and I had slipped on this. NO ONE came to help me, they just stared. A woman asked if I was hurt and I said yes (the pain was awful). I could see one store employee further down the last aisle. When he heard my response, he WALKED IN THE OTHER DIRECTION. One would hope to get a supervisor, etc. I got up on my own (in shock) walked down the aisle and got all the way to the information desk, where I told them I wanted to speak to a supervisor and have an incident report filled out. Rachel (?) took me into a room, asked me my name, phone, birth date, whether I'd had any previous knee injuries (!!!) and wanted to know if I required immediate medical attention. I said I didn't think so, I just wanted to go home, but I also wanted them to know what had happened and to be sure to clean up the spill (as I had walked down the aisle I could see that someone had also kept trailing the leaking milk into the next aisle). Here's what the store manager did not do: she did NOT have me sign an official incident report (was taking notes on pad of paper); she did NOT give me her business card, nor did she tell me to contact them if the fall turned out to require medical assistance later, which they should be responsible for (it was THEIR negligence that led to this situation). She DID minimize my pain by suggesting I was feeling "pins and needles." I assured her that it hurt a good deal more than that. Pins and needles is banging your elbow. Landing full force with all your body weight on your knees hurts much more than that. On my one day off (Monday) I spent all day icing and elevating knees -- I have a huge bruise on my left knee and a cut and bruises on my right knee. I still have NOT received a phone call from Stop & Shop asking me how I am doing. I would think long and hard before patronizing this location -- in my experience on Sunday, the staff was both unprofessional and uncaring. This is a neighborhood store -- act like you mean it, folks, especially when you are in the wrong. read more

I just got home from shopping today at this store (I live in Hampton Bays), and I felt so compelled to right a review that I haven't even put my groceries away. This store is one of the most mismanaged places. They are NEVER staffed properly with enough checkout help. Not sure why they are unable to do so, but today, there were only 2 checkout lines available, at 12 noon, and one woman turned people away saying she was closing and refused to take anyone else. Finally, after enough complaints, what appeared to be managers or something, started ringing people up. The lines stretched down the length of the store. When this place first opened, it was a relief to have something besides King Kullen to choose from, but now it's become a joke. I heard from an employee that they refuse to pay any overtime, so apparently the customer is the one that suffers. Understandably, the woman I had checking me out was frustrated and pissed off, but she proceeded to curse under her breath the whole time she rang me up, and even threw a few of my items down the belt. I am no longer going to utilize this store, instead making the 20 minutes drive to the Riverhead location, or be forced to go back to King Kullen. read more
