This is a difficult review to write. I have been to this location many times since it has opened. I keep hoping it will get better, it hasn't. It is an odd location. The entire store is very small. While some of the products are wonderful, it is hit or miss in getting what I need. The cashiers have seemed aloof at best. Annoyed by my existence almost ever time I shop there. I was a little disappointed with this Lidl location. They had very few un-fredh bakery items, and absolutely zero Coke products left. I was actually searching for cold Arizona ice tea which is easy to find at their other stores, but the do not exist here. I had to settle on a Cherry Coke which is just awful for your body. I also purchased a nice pumpkin spiced muffin which turned out to be good. There were also at least seven customers waiting in line to pay, yet they only had a single register open. I shop here weekly and always get assistance when I ask. This past Sunday i saw they were almost out of scallions. I asked the nearest team member and he replenished the supply immediately. Here is where I go for fresh breads, and also for deals on cereals. Oh my bad also frozen shrimp, as they are a delicacy. You can find at least for a less cost here salmon, but thanks to inflation I've had to cut back on this. It's a shame due to its health benefits, but all of us are struggling to a degree. Lidl is a bit more in my opinion, than what Aldi is. On a plus note much prettier store. Bread has a lot of carbs, but got to have it here and there. The pretzels are something you should do when here. Often there's a deal on them in the bakery section. I also want to commend the employees. They are friendly and helpful. Also laughing as for Father's Day, they are selling a set of Bud Light socks set. No thanks although definitely grateful for that. Parking here is pretty good, and employees do their best, to keep the lines moving. read more

I agree with everything that the other reviewers are saying. I just want to add one more thing and that's the quality of their products. I am not sure if the store hasn't been busy enough to replace their items fast enough. I purchased basmati rice and orange juice just recently with other grocery items. The rice turned out to have spider web inside the package. The orange juice I bought had already expired the day before it was sold. This is a big lack of quality check on the store management. I have attached pictures for reference. I am not sure if lidl is here to stay for much long with such bad quality checks. It's such a big disappointment as I used to shop in lidl all the time when I lived in France. Their baked goods and cheese selection have been excellent. I was so excited when the stores opened in the US. I had been recommending Lidl to everyone in my circle but I won't be doing that anymore. It's really a shame. read more

Not only do they have the normal things that a grocery store has like fresh flowers, produce, meat and a bakery, they also clothes, home goods, pet supplies and toys along with an ever changing variety of other things. Lidl is my go to store for produce, dairy and basics. You can get milk and eggs significantly less than Giant or Safeway, making it worth the trip! The produce is always cheaper. It is well organized and easy to go through. The only traffic is around the bakery during busy hours like on weekends. Lidl bakery has some great artisan breads and pastries. None of it is made in-house but they do bake it at the store. I usually don't purchase much meat at Lidl but they do have a good deal on chicken tenders and salmon. They have salmon that is packed with a spice blend on top. It is great broiled and a weekly purchase. There is always a few "stuff" aisles where there are weekly specials such as pans, door mats, tools, and clothing. A bonus is the great deals on wine! If you like to make charcuterie boards, this is the place to go! There is an awesome selection of imported meats and cheeses at really reasonable prices. One secret is that their chocolate is all from Belgium! They have a great holiday candy and sweet selections. You can also find many European finds. read more

Customer service is terrible. I don't want to go grocery shopping again because the cashiers don't greet or look at customers and answer questions in a tone that I don't want to say. Buy American from American stores, these German guys, they advertise and they never have the things on the shelf or what they do is they advertise and they charge you the full price and If you question , they say oh that was a coupon you had to sign in. The portions are a small and that's why he's in your pain in the good price. They are not even price per pound you pay for portions. I will never buy from you guys again even though you're next-door to my house. It's a good store and I enjoy it. I shop there every week and have no problems. Good produce and their lidl brand is usually good. But sometimes it's not and it's understandable bc it's a discount store. Everyone complaining doesn't consider it's a budget/ discount store , it's quality and variety in food is going to differ compared to a wegmans or giant. This was my first time at this Lidl location, and I much prefer it to the one on Little River Turnpike. The jury is still out, however, on which is "better"-Lidl or Aldi. I enjoy the ease of getting a cart at Lidl (no fidgeting around with the unlock button and quarters. There is also a significant variety of both fruits and vegetables-all at very attractive prices. I think Lidl has more "name brands" than Aldi does, but the Lidl brands are still good quality. The aisles are really wide here, which is nice considering the carts can be hard to maneuver. There were no register lines on my visit on a Saturday afternoon. Everything seemed clean and well-stocked and well-organized. I will definitely stop by Lidl again to save on groceries without sacrificing the quality! read more

I waited in line for 8 minutes only to hear checkout 4 is now closing please proceed to the next open checkout line. After switching lanes 3 times I was ready to implode! Twenty-five minutes later I finally got the one item I came in for. This happens every single time I go to this Lidl. I absolutely abhor that store I wish we had Shopper's back. read more

This is my least favorite Lidl location. If I was leaving a review for their products alone it might be a 5 stars. But unfortunately this 1 star review pertains to the low quality employees they have. They are rude. They will ignore you. And worse than any of that - they will laugh in your face if you ask them about the length of time it takes to refund money electronically. Maybe it was because the total amount I wanted refunded wasn't enough to impress Mr. Cashier, but why would you laugh in my face after I ask an honest question? That is completely 100% unprofessional and I can't believe anyone would find that that's acceptable behavior. That's not how you treat a customer. On top of that, they are in such a rush to complete your transaction that they will bungle things by trying to deal with other customers before you've checked out. I'm not sure why they're like this, but it makes coming here a not very enjoyable experience. I might make the drive to the Springfield location next time. read more

I have been shopping here since this place opened. Employees have always been nice. Today I learned the management is horrible. Manager Kim laughed in my face and started to walk away as I was speaking without resolving the issue. I have worked retail my entire life, I have never treated a customer the way this lady did to me, seriously she needs a lesson on how to deal with customers. She pretty much accused me of stealing, said, and I quote, "they have to check the cameras" (even though I had my receipt and bank statement which she didn't even bother looking at), said her system doesn't allow it... it doesn't allow you to do a refund? Yeah right lol. I was not rude to her, but once you laugh in my face and blatantly ignore me I am going to be upset. She even tried to make me look bad because I was holding customers up in line... I am a customer too, and if I am holding people up then open up another register. I'm disgusted, but I will be contacting Lidl about both my refund and this situation. read more

Hi shoppers, NEVER shop at Lidl - Burke. ZERO Stars. At least 2 sale items were priced at full price in the computer. I had to wait for the manager. I then had to wait for him to go check on the sale prices. I then had to wait for the busy register (long lines only 2 were open). The manager then asked for my credit card again to refund the money. I said "You are wasting my time." He replied, "I don't have to honor this price." Holding the sale paper in his hand. That is fraud ! NO OTHER STORE treats its customers this poorly. I agree with the many poor comments: poor store lay out considering the mammoth size of shoppers, lack of advertised goods, and some poor staff. In addition, review your receipts and pay very close attention to the pricing labels. For example, today I bought Lays Potato Chips stacked at the front of store with a big sign 2 for $4; however, one type was not on sale and the price became 2 of $6. While it was marked with small signs, it is still a bait and switch--why would B-que vs Sour cream not be the same l. Had I not noticed it while walking out of the store, I would have paid $2 extra dollars. The manager had no reason, except the sign. I don't bother going to the commissary and just shop here since the store is small and has great prices and is much closer. It's cheaper than any of the other local grocery stores and is clean and fast. The only thing I think would need to be improved is the entrance. Often there are folks going to the gym in a rush to get in the parking lot and the trash cans outside the store are often full. I'm sure if the management would ask the shopping center to put in speed bump in front of the store it would help. The store itself has great deals and almost everything I shop for. So, it's more than half a year after my last review and I'm still stunned that this particular Lidl is simply the worst managed and organized Lidl in Northern Virginia. My favorite grocery store. Was already a fan when they came to France in the early 90's. You can't beat their prices and they import hard to find European food no one else sells in the US! They had so much space to work with and managed to lay the store out with the WORST floor plan possible. The carts are too big for tiny entrance and exit. The belts at the end of the register makes it difficult to bag more than a few items. The aisles are too long for the placement of the registers. It's an epic fail. This store is super cramped. You can't have more than one cart at a time down the isles. The store was pretty big when it was a shoppers before, now it is tiny. I don't what happened to the rest of the space. Horrible layout that does not make grocery shopping enjoyable. The lines were very long and slow moving for checkout. I decided to put my items back and return the cart to the area outside of the store only to have the alarm go off and cart seize up. I guess this is their security system but not well thought out if you are simply trying to return the cart due to not wanting to purchase any items. Convenient prices. Not always a variety and many things are not restocked. Customer service is horrendous. One guy was coming up behind me and almost ran me over if I wouldn't have moved. I was minding my business looking at some items and another employee told me that the area was closed in such a rude tone. No one at the register says hi even when you greet them first (This was all in one 30m trip tonight 4/26/22). There have been various instances but I've wasted enough time here. I'm not going back. I really don't like writing negative reviews. But the Burke location Lidl needs to improve or be replaced with a better grocery store. It's ok that they have so few selections compared to other (better) grocery stores. But it is not ok that they are often under stocked with the few things that they do carry. There has not been a day that they are not out of one or two essentials from my biweekly shopping trips. I have asked several employees to see if they maybe have it in the back but the answer is always no before they even look. The lines are often long and they don't open another register until it gets extremely long. And why is that cheap stuff in the middle taking up all that room? Those things look like they belong in Kmart or five below or some random store, not where people go to buy food. Trip to Lidl end up being a disappointment and we end up at the Safeway nearby.
