We came here to play volleyball on a Sunday afternoon (or to just volley the ball back and forth) and it was a great setting for some casual play. There's so much green grass to enjoy sports or picnicking, as well as a basketball court and tennis courts. Also, a parking lot for convenience and a good amount of benches for seating. But on this day, we simply took advantage of the grassy field and being outdoors, enjoying the views, with Levi's Stadium in the distance (and the niners on their way to a comeback win this past weekend). The park is simple, beautiful and well maintained, and fit our needs on this unusually warm winter day. Couldn't have asked for more. read more

Lick Mill Park is a perfect dog park, for family barbecues, picnic dates, and athletic activities to visit. Located in North San Jose, this park is quite spacious for a walk. They have a parking lot reserved for the park as well as street parking. We came here to celebrate my friend's dog's gotcha day and it was truly the perfect location for our friends to gather, eat, and play with our dogs. They have a few tables scattered around the park and near trees so you can peacefully enjoy your time under the shaded areas. They also have a few barbecue grills nearby these tables. They have sidewalks around the large grass space for you to walk around which would be especially beneficial during rainy and wet days. Trash cans are everywhere so it is quite accessible to throw away your pet's waste. What surprised me is that they also have tennis courts and I believe a basketball court as well. I'm not entirely sure if there is a need to reserve the space, but it seems accessible for the public on a first-come-first-served basis. read more

For a small-ish neighborhood park, this one is very nice. There are playgrounds, tennis courts, and picnic areas. The trees are pretty and it is a great place to stroll with a baby stroller and/or dogs. read more

Friend hosted a party here, and good for what she needed. 1. Parking lot on lick mill side is small. Read a review stating car got broken into, TIP: dont leave things in your car! I go to SF a lot and I see way more characters there than this area. Free to park. 2. Park area has benches and tables and small grills. First come first serve. 3. Park has no alcohol rules fyi. 4. Bathroom was relatively clean, ish. Haha bring wipes just in case. Solid park easy to get to, would come again. read more

FYI~ Lick Mill is not a funny name. Neither is Lick Observatory, which is on the top of Mt. Hamilton in San Jose. In the late 1800s, James Lick was an extremely wealthy Californian, having made his fortune in real estate. He gave some of his riches to purchase the area around the Lick Observatory, which is now operated by University of California Observatory. (But I digress...) A plus for Lick Mill Park is that it is very close to the Ulistac Natural Area which is alongside the Guadalupe River in that area. Children can play at Lick Mill Park and get a science lesson by walking over to the Ulistac Natural Area with an adult to look for birds and (when we've had rain), perhaps, some American beavers. read more

Lick Mill is a pretty funny name but I've been coming and BBQ'ing at this park since I was in high school with my usual group of friends. Amenities are: Tennis Court Play Area w/ swings and jungle gym in sand A small trail for light walks or jogs. BBQ Area w/ tables. Big grass field Basketball Courts. The parking lot is rather small and street parking can be iffy since your in a residential zone with a apartment complex right over the fence. But the park is very clean and does the job for small festivities. read more

The Park is beautiful, clean and organized, and has restrooms clean, but I need to tell you something. The front parking lot has no security. My car had blown glass and took a bag of diapers for my baby was only diapers and clothes, and so I stayed in the car. But I warn everyone do not leave objects in the car and take great care. There are some strange people lurking out there just waiting to attack. That's theban part about this park is because of this violence is stopped frequenting the Park. I think the location is very desert during the week and not have the local security. read more

Flowers were so beautiful in Lick Mill Park today. There is also a good view of Levi's Stadium from one end of the park. I also like it that it is close to Ulistac Natural Area, which is across the street. Some of the things there are playground, tennis court, picnic tables and barbecue areas. read more

Tennis Court ONE playground area about 3 or 4 spots that include BBQ grills small grass field ONE basketball court....I notice that there's always guys playing here. A well-known court that Santa Clara residents come to play...not that I know or anything... small dining hall for a kid's birthday party somewhat clean bathrooms not much parking spaces If you plan on having a picnic or BBQ party here, I suggest you come EARLY. This is a VERY WELL-KNOWN park that everyone seems to enjoy! Just a little warning. read more

Some other Yelper was complaining that in this park you get more adults with their dogs and kids playing around. Well, maybe that is the reason I really like this park! Is a dog's paradise and adults haven. You can go and read a book, take a nap under a tree and is at walking distance of many apartment complexes in North San Jose. Quiet but not boring, you will always see someone walking around. Very clean and safe and also well maintained. read more

Goodbye to driving to somewhere else to run.. didn't know I could access this park at the end of my street. My dog loves it here too. He probably has marked his territory in every bush and plant thereof. Oh... Some cute guys playing tennis yesterday afternoon. Whata plus. I saw like swings my a$$ could definitely fit in... Lick Mill Park is a small park that has a little of everything you need: - a nice picnic area with smooth stone tables and a couple of grills for your outdoor cooking needs - a tennis court - a basketball court - a playground area - pathways for jogging and walking pets - grassy areas for general merriment - parking lot proportionate to the size of the park :P The best thing about this park is that it's super clean and well-maintained. Nice park. It's right off Lick Mill and the lightrail stops right there. About a mile away there is also a shopping center (Rivermark) and there are a few fast foody places off Tasman and Lick Mill. We came here one morning to walk my dog and I was surprised with how long the park actually continues to. There were a good number of little kids playing with water guns and water balloons as well as the swings. There's a waving walkway throughout the whole park and as you go past the actual park gates to the residential side, the park just turns into a grass area that runs parallel to the houses. Good area for a quick jog. Parking is also available on the residential side along the street. read more

Tables grouped together is perfect for large groups. I had a BBQ here for passing my boards. I was told to come here early to "SAVE" a table, but it wasnt necessary, maybe bc it wasnt a busy day (sunday). We had the area that had the shade. I was afraid that the wind would pick up the dust/sand/dirt, but nope. They have at least 2-4 grills per table area. Lots of room. I had at least 60 friends that showed up throughout the day and that's not including family. You do have to bring your own Table(s) if youre bring food bc the tables they have arent roomy enough. Its barely enough room to eat, let alone have all the food placed there. read more

Great park to take a younger child to - there are tons of seeds, sticks, foliage and more for little ones to pick up and treasure. The playground is smaller but perfect for the 2-4 age set. Its a good walk for little legs, and the grassy field is a nice size to run around on. The best part is the awesome view of all the airplanes coming and going from San Jose Airport - they seem really close, and my kid loves watching them. read more

This park is nice...it's not anything wow-worthy but it's green and inviting and is sure a good representation of Santa Clara. Santa Clara is such a cross section of cultures and you see everything at this park. The playground is just okay...there is a toddler swing and a play structure...it's older and wooden...but it's nice. There is a cool little bridge. There is also a set of tennis courts here which look pretty well maintained. They are in full sun though and it can be hot out there. We also attend Teacher Sean's Music Factory here which is located in the rec building near Lick Mill Road. It's a nice location. The restrooms here are pretty clean all things considered...I am impressed! read more

A serene park located by residential area where there is a basketball court and plenty of metal benches for park goers to rest on. There is also a building for summer camp. The only down side is there are airplanes passing by every so often. read more

I just wanted to say that this park is so well kept by the park groundsmen!!! Even though Joe has now moved on, Howard (weekdays) and Mark (weekends have done a superb job keeping the park nicely manicured and clean!!! You have hired great people that continue to care not only about the park but there jobs! If I could change one thing, some of us that go thru the park daily and live close to it, wish it would be monitored more in the evenings around the concrete picnic area. Loud music goes on well into the night. Need more police patrol around that area because it is hidden from the street. Maybe putting a sign there might help???? That being said, that has nothing to do with the grounds its restrooms and tennis courts. That all looks fabulous. Just want the rules followed. read more

Want to run over green!!! Long green park in Santa Clara. Kid's sandy play area in one side... middle pathway.. then other end have room for picnic rents... nicely maintained park. Limited parking inside - ample roadside parking available. read more

Playground sits on sand, which I don't like. There were more adults walking their dogs, than they were kids at that park. It's ok. Hardly any kids. read more

Very picturesque. A good place to lie down on the grass under a tree and read a book. Quiet and not too many people.
