Great teachers Liz (Reading/Writing) and Iris (Math) -- wonderful, supportive, kind, relatable. Our child did already start with a pretty decent SAT score, so our initial consultation discussed how to improve meaningfully in this scenario; with Elite's customized help our child hit a home run... leaving us with the sad thought that we wouldn't be seeing this super team again!

I enrolled my child in SAT tutoring expecting a structured, consistent, and professional…read moreexperience. Unfortunately, it was anything but. Scheduling regular, consistent sessions was incredibly difficult. We went through THREE different English tutors, experienced THREE tutor cancellations, and despite paying for in-person tutoring, were forced to conduct some sessions online due to tutor availability. The constant changes in teachers, cancellations, and scheduling challenges made it nearly impossible to establish any continuity or momentum in my child's SAT preparation. SAT tutoring is time-sensitive, and consistency is critical. Instead, we were left feeling that neither my child's education nor our family's time was valued. What makes this even more frustrating is the mandatory nine-session commitment. Do yourself a favor and think twice before signing up for the required nine sessions. I deeply regret making that commitment. For a service that is supposed to help students prepare for such an important exam, I expected far more professionalism, reliability, and accountability. An awful experience for our family and a huge disappointment all around. I would not recommend this tutoring school.

We began working with Sylvan and it was one of the best decisions we made for our family's educational journey. Sylvan provided detailed, ongoing assessments that gave us clear visibility into exactly what skills our child was working on and what was coming next, no guesswork, just steady progress. The program helped them build those essential skills with confidence and consistency. A huge shoutout to Becky and Ana, they are true standouts! Their genuine passion shines through, and personalized approach made all the difference. They truly care about each student's success. We are eternally grateful to the entire team at Sylvan Learning on Slauson for helping our child. We felt that our niece was in great hands and it took a lot of stress off of us, but we were also kept in the loop and involved in decision making. Most importantly, as a result, my niece has developed the confidence to meet and exceed her goals. Her ACT score went up 8 points and she got into her first choice college with a big scholarship! This could not have been a better choice, as working with Avi Lidgi proved to be what I needed to take the next step in improving my score. After working with Avi for three sessions (three weeks), I was able to improve my GRE score by 13 points (V158 Q159 to V166 Q164) into the 90th%s. While the resources and study materials were certainly useful, Avi's expertise on GRE-style questions and strategy for approaching these questions were invaluable in improving my score beyond what I could have done myself in this short period of time. Many of the questions that I considered highly difficult became simplified and approachable under his tutelage. During the test, this saved me many precious minutes to check my logical reasoning in both the verbal and quantitative sections. As such, I highly recommend Twainstein to any individuals or groups seeking improvement in their GRE test scores. The test is an excellent opportunity to anyone seeking to advance their education, and this test preparation organization offers an exciting way to achieve even greater success.

TLDR; Twainstein was quite possibly one of my greatest finds on Yelp. Highly recommend for GRE…read moretutor services. Money well spent. Over the past year I decided to pursue a career change that would require taking the GRE (/ hiring a tutor) and getting accepted to grad school. Being budget conscious, the first thing I noticed was that Twainstein's services weren't cheap, in fact they were wayyy out of my price range. However after doing some research, reading some reviews, having a pressure-free consult with Avi, and deciding that the best investment I could make was in my education, I made the leap. Best. Decision. Ever. Over the course of a month and half, Avi and I worked together to improve my confidence and test-taking strategy/abilities (Dare I say i'm no longer afraid of fractions?). He was patient, observant and tailored our sessions to my needs. I put in a lot of effort inside and outside of our sessions, and he did the same for me. I also really appreciated his routine checkins, his availability, speedy email responses, and his comprehensive approach to the exam. If you are slow to learn, have a LD like myself, or just lack the confidence, please don't let that deter you from taking the exam! You can achieve your goal score like I did with hard work and proper guidance, which is why I highly recommend Avi and his team.

I signed up for Veritas Prep GMAT online course at the last second due to hectic work schedule…read more Each course is 3 hours long. It is a knowledge packed and very focused 3-hour session, not a minute is wasted. In the live online classroom, my classmates are from all over the world and across the country. Though online, it is no less engrossing and captivating than my other in person classes (which I took else where). In fact, the teacher (Chris Kane) and the teacher's assistant (Brandon P.) kept me awake despite my long hours of overwork and sleep depravation. The subjects are definitely fascinating. The classes offered so much insight and tips on preparing for the exam. Most of all, short cuts and tips on getting to the core of the GMAT questions, which made the exam so much less intimidating. In fact, the classes made the learning fun and fascinating for me. The intense 3-hour session block may be energy and time demanding, but I think it also kept the momentum going. That being said, it does still require practice. And for someone who is rusty with math and verbal, practice is the key. The class environment is absolutely always encouraging, positive and engaging. Once signed up, Veritas ship you this box of study guides, which are companion to the class. Compare these study guides and other guides, one can say not much different. In addition, to the online class and the study guides, I also downloaded the Veritas GMAT APP to iPhone to watch the videos and take the practice exams during my spare time. The biggest challenge, as I learned, is not lack of knowledge but lack of time and energy. Time to study and practice. And lack of sleep due to working overtime does eat away one's ability to focus. The teacher would remind everyone the importance of practice and a good night sleep. As a person who has taken numerous exams and gone to a number of test prep seminars, I found the classes given by Veritas to be the best. Though many may consider its price tag to be steep, but I found it to be well worth the investment. If any advice to offer, I would recommend that you take this test prep class with allocated time in mind. Does require time for practicing, and make sure that you are well rested in between these classes. The classes at Veritas made it easier for me to tackle the GMAT constructively and productively.

I was working with Hailey on a Veritas Course prep for GMAT, and got a 770. A few thoughts below…read morebut tldr my success was not credited to Veritas Prep - 1. Before you start this course. If you are scoring above 700, I would not recommend this course as it spends a LOT of time on basic, pretty easy questions. 2. The pace of this class is S.L.O.W - the burden on the instructor is that she has to address all questions on the online 'chat'. That slows everything down, with people who have not done their homework affecting the progress of everyone else. 3. I give this review 3 stars because I loved the resources Veritas provides. There is enough to keep you busy every week, challenging questions, and covers all 'types' of questions. The practice tests are also hard and challenge you to think beyond the superficial. 4. Hailey was cool & so was her TA. I appreciated her help, her determination to make class fun, and her prompt replies to emails with follow-up questions. In conclusion, if you are already a high-performer and looking for a 20-30 point increase, I would point to Magoosh or if you got the cash, then a private tutor.

My 1st grader has been attending the tutoring center for a few months now and the level he is…read morestudying here is surprising. I reviewed the materials he is solving, and it's definitely ahead of what I thought he was capable of. He was writing letters in mirrors images pretty recently, but the stuff in the workbook here that he was reading and writing reminded me of PSAT (for those old enough to remember those) . Of course, to do these, he needs attention and guidance from a teacher at a much lower ratio than what we can get from school, and here, it's kept at about 2 students per teacher. Being a fidgety flighty 6 yr old boy (hopefully normal?) I don't know how much he learns in his school class of 26 kids and I don't have the skills to teach him myself so I started sending him here for professional help twice a week to make sure he doesn't fall behind. Looks like mission is being accomplished so far! And most importantly, he enjoys learning here, which made it part of our weekly routine now. They offer a free assessment, where the student takes a test and they come back with analysis on the student's level and recommendations. It's a nice computer printout that Mr. Chow goes over with you. And then you can decide to enroll or not, and how often to attend and what times you'd like. It was a nice way to get started, as well as probably the first time I got my child assessed on anything. Thankfully he tested slightly above his grade level, but upon examining the questions, I did notice it would've resulted differently had we not done a few reading sessions on our own just the week prior to the assessment, as the vocab tests were specific. So it's not perfect, but still a really useful experience for the child and the parent!
