It wasn't until I took my daughter for the same scalp itching to her doctor that her doctor diagnosed it immediately and looked at my scalp and told me I had lice. So I realize that kids being kids, especially girls, having sleepovers using the same pillows, hugging each other and rubbing their hair together, often sharing the same brush, and I'm assuming one of these things brought the lice to us. And now we try to be very careful about these things. Her doctor recommended Nitpixies and I have to say they are very good. I met the owner of Nitpixies, Kniji, and was very impressed by the business. She got rid of the lice and then we also bought the lice shampoo and conditioner and detangler just to use to try and avoid getting it again. Again, kids being kids, it's hard to stop them from being so close to each other. I really like the shampoo and conditioner smell. I would definitely go back if we got lice again. My hair is so long and thick that I can't comb it out myself. It isn't cheap, but it was definitely necessary. So once we found out that we had lice, we called all of our friends to let them know so that they could also get checked, and several of them also had lice so who knows who gave who the lice. But everyone got checked and cleaned. If you've never had lice before, it is really important to make sure you wash all your bedding in very hot water and take away all the things that lice can travel on. That was kind of stressful but again necessary.

The staff did not seem experienced or thorough, and despite being told we were clear--including after a full comb-out only 10 days later--we discovered live lice on all three family members less than three weeks after treatment and had to undergo the entire treatment process again elsewhere. Ultimately, we spent $600 at Nit Pixies and had to pay for treatment all over again at a different place a few days later. When I raised my concerns, the owner refused a refund and told me not to return to her salons. I would not recommend this service. Go to a place where they have a 30 day guarantee like Lice Clinic.

She was so sweet and very professional. She talked us through how to decontaminate the house and how to prevent a recurrence. She even came back a couple hours later when I wanted her to check out my other two daughters. Once inside the place she felt comfortable right away. The rooms are private with enough room for a few people. Bug-a-lugz is set up for kids, it is decorated in bright colors and has a great selection of movies to make the time pass quickly. I was happy the treatment took only half an hour as I didn't want to be there all day. We went back for the second treatment and are lice free. Susan moved quickly and didn't make the appointment any longer than necessary without sacrificing effectiveness. We discovered my daughter had an infestation at 9:00pm the night before we saw Susan. I knew I'd call first thing in the morning to get a professional service to make sure the lice and eggs were gone for good! No playing around! I called at 9am, right when she opens and we were in the "salon" by 11:30! Awesome. I did go through the home remedy method the same night we discovered my daughter contracted lice but I just could not - even though I did my best to be thorough- get all those sticky eggs off and the younger bugs are just so tiny. My daughters hair is waist length and curly making it especially difficult. I truly believe that with out this service we would still be battling a possible reoccurrence simply because I couldn't rid the eggs on my own. And why go though the tedious task of combining them out again?! The home remedies require a follow up treatment.
