That's when I turned to Head to Head, and I've now been there twice in the past month. They've treated me like family, and I truly can't thank them enough. If you've never experienced this, consider yourself incredibly fortunate. It's an overwhelming and exhausting situation. There's a stigma that makes you feel judged or embarrassed, but I want to say loud and clear: lice are extremely common, and it can happen to anyone--no matter how clean or careful you are. I'm not too proud to share that my family has been through this multiple times since my kids were in grade school, and every time, Head to Head has been there to help, guaranteeing complete removal and peace of mind. If I could offer one piece of advice: don't be too proud or afraid to tell the people your kids have been in contact with. It's the only real way to stop the cycle of reinfestation. Every child should get checked, and I highly recommend using Head to Head. They guarantee their service for 30 days, are incredibly accommodating, and Marta--she's truly wonderful.

We were quoted in writing: "a lice treatment & nit removal for her $270 (flat rate)."…read more Once the technician arrived at our home, the price escalated dramatically. The invoice was initially $1,347.39 and was only reduced to about $1,100 after we disputed the charges and removed some products. A "flat rate" quote turning into four figures once someone is already in your home is not transparent pricing. From the moment the technician was in our apartment, the entire experience became high-pressure. We were told various add-ons and products were "mandatory," and the total kept climbing in real time. We also felt pressured because the technician would not leave until payment was received. This is not how a reputable service should operate, especially in a family's home. We were explicitly told that both parents being checked was required as part of the process. We initially refused, because we had already checked ourselves and were confident this was a school exposure and that our daughter had likely picked it up that morning. We were then told they would not proceed with treating our daughter unless we agreed to be checked, and only after that pressure did we eventually reluctantly comply. Both my husband and I were checked. Neither of us had lice. Yet the bill still ballooned from $270 to an initial $1,347.39 (and then about $1,100 after dispute). We also dispute the "severe" classification, but regardless, clarity matters: if there are severity tiers, surcharges, home-visit fees, and "mandatory" products, those need to be disclosed clearly before anyone shows up--not after you are already in a stressful situation. Additional serious concerns: * We specifically requested a female lice expert because we are religious and the patient is a young girl. They sent a man anyway. This should have been clearly communicated in advance so we could make an informed decision, not discovered at the door. * The technician barely spoke English, and whenever we asked a question or needed clarification about what was being done or what we were being charged for, he would suddenly stop speaking English altogether. That made it extremely difficult to understand what we were supposedly agreeing to in real time. Clear communication matters, especially in a stressful situation involving your child. * They do not accept credit cards. We were told payment had to be made via cash, Zelle, or Venmo only. For a New York company with a website and significant marketing, refusing credit cards removes standard consumer protections and makes it much harder to dispute charges. In our case, that payment setup amplified the pressure and left us feeling cornered. This ended up being a day where we were so stressed by the escalating bill and refusal to leave without payment that we were close to calling 911 just to get the situation de-escalated. That alone should tell prospective customers what they need to know. To be clear: our daughter did have lice, and we do not dispute that treatment was necessary. What we do dispute is the lack of upfront disclosure, the bait-and-switch style escalation from a $270 quote to four figures, and the high-pressure tactics used in our home. Parents should be aware that the advertised "flat rate" may have very little relationship to what you are actually charged once someone is in your home.

After my procedure was done she explained me what we should do afterwards and I had to purchase a lice treatment kit that works great. Today once I followed up with everything we didn't have anymore lice! We still have to be careful though and put the treatment in our hair every other day but I definitely recommend going to her if you have any lice. It's a clean office and they disinfect everything. If I have any questions I can also text her. I'm glad I went to her.

My 8 y.o. daughter is staying with her grandparents for the summer in NJ and last Saturday, I…read morereceived a dreaded phone call from my dad, "Your daughter has head lice!" Unable to take care of the situation physically myself and trusting only my own research (reading online reviews from multiple sources and calling most if not all available lice removal services in/around Bergen county for rates and to get a feel of how they answer their calls/my inquiries), I'm extremely glad that I trusted my instinct and decided to go with BLR (Bergen Lice Removal). Maria, who is also the owner, is by far one of the most genuinely caring, understanding, patient and professional individual I have ever encountered in my entire adult life. From my initial inquiry call (her soothing tone) to my few follow up calls after my daughter's visit, she put me so at ease by understanding my situation, informing me on the details of my daughter's treatment and the necessary follow-up to-do's. I checked my phone record, +/- 50 minutes of total phone time, not a second did I feel Maria was rushing through it all, nor did I feel I was an annoyance for my many questions and uncertainty. My mom and daughter did mention how clean and private the location is and how nice Maria treated them. Also, I called about 7 different lice removal services, pricing wise, BLR is the most reasonable one, which I'm quite sure is a major, if not the deciding factor for most consumers. But, the deciding factor on that day personally, was Maria's phone etiquette and the few initial Q&A's between us. I did mention this to Maria, one company (it'll remain nameless here) I called, started with "This call may be recorded for quality.....", so yes, it's one of the few nationwide, I guess "big-playa" of the lice removal industry some might say. I was greeted with a "Hello" and as soon as I responded with a few "Hello?"s, I realized that the rep. was finishing up a burger order she was placing with someone in the background without telling me or putting me on hold... smh! This is a long and detailed review, but I feel like and I want to shine a spotlight on BLR and especially Maria, for her outstanding customer service and her professionalism. So, Thank you very much Maria, for turning a stressful and unwanted process into a painless and manageable one. Those "big-playas" have got nothing on you, in fact, they should learn from you!!!

Monique( the owner of Licefree nyc)was so awesome, calming me down, explaining that it would not be necessary to burn my clothes. I was amazed how quickly she eradicated the lice from my head was. Monique is the very best. Really, and truly, the best…read more Let me just start off by saying, my entire life I have been absolutely and unreasonably terrified (I mean, TERRIFIED) of lice. In elementary school, any slight itch on my head would send me into a paranoid fit and I would insist the school nurse check my head. In high school, I would often ditch class, drive to my mom's work and make her check my head for lice. I never actually had lice, but the fear was very real. Last year I started teaching preschool, and when I discovered lice in four of my students' hair, I immediately urged my husband to check my head. While picking through my hair, he paused for an usually long amount of time, ripped out a blond strand of hair, and showed me an unquestionable light brown nit sitting on it. I went into an absolute state of panic and called lice remover, after lice salon, after lice remover but it was too late in the evening and they either didn't pick up, or told me I'd have to wait until the following day. Monique however, called me back right away. She told me she would be willing to come and help me, but insisted it was something I could take care of on my own with a little bit of coaching. She told me exactly what I needed to do, and asked me to follow up with her the next day. In a gross psychological state, I asked her to go through my hair the following day, but after learning how few nits I had in my hair and how carefully my husband went through each strand, she urged me to wait. How incredible is that? While she could have made a pretty easy chunk of change off my desperation, she chose to be supportive and honest instead. By following her suggestions, lice was a thing of the past, and a lesson learned. Until it wasn't. A month ago, I visited a family I used to nanny for in Atlanta. I was in Atlanta for Saturday and Sunday and Monday morning had an international flight to Medellin. On Sunday evening, during a miraculously timed trip to the bathroom, I saw a bug run across my forehead. When I checked the children's heads I immediately found nits. Using Monique's suggestions from before I treated my head, and found TEN live (now dead) bugs, but absolutely ZERO nits. I called Monique early in the morning on Monday, needing piece of mind, and again she coached me through the follow up. In both incidents, Monique responded to my calls during off hours, and provided me with an incredible amount of support and informed instruction. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone dealing with lice. I trust her infinitely more than I would trust any other lice removal company. Monique taught me so much about lice, and if I find myself with it again (which I'm sure I will because, well, preschool) I'll know exactly what to do.
