In early January I found actual live lice on my daughter. Poor thing had been itching for a while, and despite my looking, my inexperienced eyes didn't see anything... until that fateful day. Now, in a panic, I used the first company I called, which wasn't Lice Happens (and I'll keep them nameless). Sure, they got the job done, but when they left, I did not at all feel prepared on how to deal with this again, should it ever pop up again. And I had some nits too. How the heck was I supposed to do my own hair if this happened again? And their costs were on the half hour, and my bank account took quite the hit. Really, quite the hit. The next day, after I came down from my panic, I researched other companies. And I called Lice Happens. Let me interrupt myself here and say that they are now programmed into my phone as "The company I should have called first". I spoke with Peter at length about what happened, our experience with the other company, how I felt taken advantage of from a financial perspective, and that I was feeling so paranoid now and didn't feel that I could handle this going forward if it became an issue. He gave me some education and reassurance over the phone, and I went to their website and got some basics (comb, some other stuff). Fast forward a few months, and I swore I saw a nit in my daughter's hair again. Panicked, I kept her home and called Peter. We talked it through, and he recommended I try a comb out first to see if there was really anything there because he didn't want to inconvenience me and come out there and charge me if there might not be anything. Now don't get me wrong, he had his schedule out and told me exactly when he COULD be there, he just wanted to give me some reassurance in the meantime. Here's a gentleman with a business who is trying to reassure me, and is empowering me, and helping me to deal with this situation in every way possible. You have to have a lot of respect for a company who is so invested in helping you that (as you can see with other reviews here) they teach you and empower you to deal with the situation should it arise again, but ALSO reassure you they are there to help you as well. Lice Happens is an amazing company. If you have to deal with lice on any level, these are definitely the people you want with you. We have been fighting lice over a six month period, during which they would seem to be gone, only to reappear. I tried every over the counter product and was finally fed up. I contacted several local companies, all of which wanted to charge by the client by the hour. Lice Happens charged a travel fee and a reasonable hourly rate. While my ending bill might have made some balk, we felt it was well worth the price to not only be lice free, but to have the necessary knowledge and skills to stop any further infestations. I spoke to Peter on Friday night, and Saturday morning he and another employee were in our kitchen. They were patient with all my children, and even my 74 year old mother, who was shocked and dismayed by her own lice issue. We laughed, talked about books and pets, and didn't have to leave the comfort of our own kitchen. Peter even made sure my mother and I were able to comb successfully for upkeep purposes. This is the company to go to if you or your children have lice. This is the only place to go. I called Saturday night after using a completely ineffective over the counter product & Peter from "Lice Happens" was at our house 9:30 Sunday morning. He was amazing. He was kind, professional, compassionate and 100% efficient. He even taught me how to handle on my own if anyone in my family ever gets it again, so I won't have to pay for him to come back! Who does that- makes sure that you're ok & that he will not profit from it. He spent time with my two small children, taking care of the lice & chatting with them about books, animals, favorite activities...he was so so nice to my kids & made us all feel ok with this gross situation. While I hid it from my kids, I am NOT good with bugs. My daughter got lice and we decided to call Lice Happens for help. This was the best decision we could have made to handle the lice situation and worth every penny! Our daughter was very nervous about having someone else besides Mommy doing her hair. Peter was our lice professional and he was excellent with our daughter and family. He was very informative and cleared up many misconceptions about lice. He even taught us how to care for the situation to prevent it from the future. My daughter got lice from school. I googled around and found lice happens. I spoke with Audrey, who is so very professional. She explained to me how their service works and when I said I would speak with my husband and call back she was not pushy in trying to get me to make an appointment right there and then. I spoke with my husband and I get called back and Audrey came to my home within a few hours and she treated my four-year-old daughter. She is very down-to-earth, very easy to speak to and great with children. my daughter sat for close to two hours and let her do what she needed to do to get rid of the lice. After combing out my own hair (in sections) and 5 yo son's for a week I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and paranoid. I needed peace of mind as I was already feeling myself going crazy over this. I decided to have a professional come to our house and check how I was doing, that's when I found Lice Happens. Peter came to my house yesterday and was so pleasant. We spoke the whole time and I felt very comfortable around him. He combed through each section of my hair and did a thorough job. All four of my boys came home from school with lice last week. It was a complete nightmare! I spent days treating them with over the counter/natural remedies and combing through their hair. The bathroom became my new home. I was having difficulty combing through my oldest son's hair as it is very thick and curly. I took him to a lice treatment center. They got the job done but I paid an arm and a leg. I knew my other 3 needed to be checked but there was no way I could afford to take them to the treatment center. I thought my daughter and I had lice. I called, spoke with Audrey, who was very professional and calming. She asked me a short list of questions. Her assumption was that we didn't have lice and didn't want to charge us a fee for coming out if that were the case. She told me to take a picture, email it and would review it. Shortly later, she responded confirming that it was not lice. Another company in the area wanted to charge me a fee to be checked and upon positively ID'ing the nits/lice require treatment there of an astronomical fee. It's nice to have someone not trying to rob you and overall care about a client! When I saw that my 3 year old had a bug in her hair, I called Lice Happens. Stumbled upon them after a google search. 2 hours later Peter was at my house. What a nice and respectful young man. My normal shy 3 year old warmed up to him very fast. Turned out that we all had it. Peter was at my house for 4 hours and never once looked at his watch to see what time it was. He wasn't too busy to help us all out in one sitting. Hopefully I will never need their help again, as they also provide an education on prevention and treatment of Lice for the future. This past weekend The Great Lice Crisis hit our household. Four of our five kids had lice in varying stages, and we were quickly overwhelmed, both logistically and emotionally. I called LH late in the afternoon and Peter (the owner) was at my house within the hour combing through my daughter's hair and checking the rest of us out! Peter was thorough, professional, friendly and put us all at ease. My daughter's case was severe and she was a bit embarrassed but he spoke to her and made he feel comfortable and confident about returning to school. Peter came over on short notice and helped my wife and son with their unexpected lice breakout! My wife is in her third trimester of her pregnancy, and Peter was able to come over, using only natural products and patience, and get all the tough lice and nits out of her considerably long hair, and could not have been more pleasant company, to boot. Yesterday I called Lice Happens and spoke with Peter after having numerous infestations of lice over the past six months.
