Absolutely, positively hands down the best service for head lice, nits, louse. For kids and adults. I had the pleasure of meeting Eliana, she came to my home and worked on my daughter and I for almost 6 hours. She explained everything anyone could ever know about lice. I also met Aldo he came to assist Eliana on my hair because it's so much and so thick he helped cut the time in half. Excellent... excellent...excellent service. Hopefully I'll never have to again but IF I do... LargerThanLiceis the first place I'm calling. THANK YOU Eliana. And Aldo. read more

We were quoted in writing: "a lice treatment & nit removal for her $270 (flat rate)." Once the technician arrived at our home, the price escalated dramatically. The invoice was initially $1,347.39 and was only reduced to about $1,100 after we disputed the charges and removed some products. A "flat rate" quote turning into four figures once someone is already in your home is not transparent pricing. From the moment the technician was in our apartment, the entire experience became high-pressure. We were told various add-ons and products were "mandatory," and the total kept climbing in real time. We also felt pressured because the technician would not leave until payment was received. This is not how a reputable service should operate, especially in a family's home. We were explicitly told that both parents being checked was required as part of the process. We initially refused, because we had already checked ourselves and were confident this was a school exposure and that our daughter had likely picked it up that morning. We were then told they would not proceed with treating our daughter unless we agreed to be checked, and only after that pressure did we eventually reluctantly comply. Both my husband and I were checked. Neither of us had lice. Yet the bill still ballooned from $270 to an initial $1,347.39 (and then about $1,100 after dispute). We also dispute the "severe" classification, but regardless, clarity matters: if there are severity tiers, surcharges, home-visit fees, and "mandatory" products, those need to be disclosed clearly before anyone shows up--not after you are already in a stressful situation. Additional serious concerns: * We specifically requested a female lice expert because we are religious and the patient is a young girl. They sent a man anyway. This should have been clearly communicated in advance so we could make an informed decision, not discovered at the door. * The technician barely spoke English, and whenever we asked a question or needed clarification about what was being done or what we were being charged for, he would suddenly stop speaking English altogether. That made it extremely difficult to understand what we were supposedly agreeing to in real time. Clear communication matters, especially in a stressful situation involving your child. * They do not accept credit cards. We were told payment had to be made via cash, Zelle, or Venmo only. For a New York company with a website and significant marketing, refusing credit cards removes standard consumer protections and makes it much harder to dispute charges. In our case, that payment setup amplified the pressure and left us feeling cornered. This ended up being a day where we were so stressed by the escalating bill and refusal to leave without payment that we were close to calling 911 just to get the situation de-escalated. That alone should tell prospective customers what they need to know. To be clear: our daughter did have lice, and we do not dispute that treatment was necessary. What we do dispute is the lack of upfront disclosure, the bait-and-switch style escalation from a $270 quote to four figures, and the high-pressure tactics used in our home. Parents should be aware that the advertised "flat rate" may have very little relationship to what you are actually charged once someone is in your home. read more

Larger Than Lice New York | Lice Treatment & Nit Removal Service - Lice Services Near Me - New York, New York

See all

My sister who lives in Rhode Island, she came with her three daughters to spend the summer in NYC, and after a couple of days, they started scratching their heads like crazy, of course they sleep over with my two daughters and we discover the youngest one with lots of bugs in her hair, we freaked out and look online and found this company, Eliana and a colleague came over to my house and they were just amazing and extremely knowledgeable about lice in general, they gave us the piece of mind we were hoping for and educated us in practical ways to prevent lice in the future. We are so happy to be lice free and we are just grateful to have found these wonderful lice ladies. Thank you so much guys! You were our life savers. read more

I am impressed with Larger than Lice, especially Eliana's professionalism, knowledge and her extreme kindness. I called to get info on pricing and she carefully explained all of the options to me. She also graciously looked at a few photos I sent her and suggested free resources to help me out. I am monitoring our lice 'situation' and now I know what to look for and who to call. Also be sure to check out her website - there are products to buy for those looking for DIY options. This is a business to be trusted. read more

It's taken me awhile to write this review bc I never like to hurt someone's business. However I had an incredibly unpleasant experience with this person. She came into my home and right off the bat made me feel super judged about the cleanliness. I'm clean but it gets messy by Sunday which is when she came. She refused to take her shoes off and suggested it was bc my floors were too dirty which is incorrect and downright rude. She was mildly hostile and did not put me at ease in a stressful time. Add to that that it cost something like $1500 and only one person had lice (my daughter age 11) plus I had some nits. She told me I had to check and treat all my babysitters through her or the warranty was broken. She told me I had to buy 3 bottles of shampoo for each person (at $30 a bottle) or the warranty was broken. She was kinda mean. Def will never be using them again. read more

I never leave yelp reviews but I needed to leave one for larger than lice. I was in the shower and noticed I had lice at around 9:30 pm. I called every lice removal service in NYC, and this was the only company that had availability at this hour. By 10:20 pm, only 45 minutes after our call, Eliana was at my door with a big smile. She was so kind, comforting, and reassuring throughout the whole process. I have a very thick head of hair and needed two treatments, and my roommate needed to be checked as well. Eliana was here for over three hours and stayed positive and focused the whole time. She was extremely informative and had helpful answers to my many questions, and she even gave us a free book about lice prevention. I cannot recommend this company enough. It was a little pricey, but if you're like me, you'll pay anything to get bugs out of your hair at midnight. 6/5 stars. read more

Unfortunately cannot recommend this company. While we were initially pleased with their responsiveness in a very stressful situation, they did not get rid of my daughter's lice, which they acknowledged during a follow up visit (which we paid extra for). We did an extra 2 weeks of treatment and the nits persisted and she now has full blown lice again. So, the "all natural" treatments do not work, and they do not do as good of a job on the combing as other places, rendering the whole thing a waste. And it was very expensive. Even though its less pleasant, highly recommend sticking to Lice Enders if you are in the unfortunate situation of having to treat lice. read more

Aldo was fantastic; my daughter is now happy again and cleared for school. Painless! read more

This was the second time that we hired Larger Than Lice. The first time, we were pleased - although it cost us over $1000 to delouse 3 people. I was so frustrated I felt helpless and was just happy to have my wife and kids treated. This time, we caught it pretty early and only my two daughters needed to be treated. My wife checked them both and saw that both of them had lice. LTL came - the guy arrived at 3:30, treated two people, and left at 7:30. 4 hours. I was charged over $700! And he gave me a substantial discount for paying cash! He checked the kids hair and charged us $25 each for this even though we already knew they had the problem! Of course, they charged us $90 for shampoo, but jeez! That is a lot of money! I sent an email to LTL to ask for an explanation but they didn't even respond! This is the last time that we will use them. Stay away unless you don't care what you pay! read more

Trusting, genuine, amazing service and people. The whole experience starting with my very first call to Eliana was super positive. She patiently answered all my questions and was very sincere. She never pressured me and was very reassuring. I called her a few more times after that with some follow up questions and received the same genuine feedback each time. Aldo did a fantastic job and was very thorough and informative. I felt very comfortable the whole time and couldn't have asked for a better experience. We had a great conversation and was very nice to connect as well. Learned a lot and appreciated the human touch. This has been life changing as this can affect your well being and daily life. Hopefully this is a one and done type of thing. If not, they'll be the first I ring up. read more

This was a great experience! I had Aldo and he was very thorough and took his time! Very courteous and a people person, able to keep the conversation going while still focusing on the important part, eliminating all lice! I highly recommend this company! You cant go wrong, they are available 24/7, come to YOUR home and their price is very reasonable! read more

Truly I could not wait to write this review! Our family had our first experience with lice and it was a trauma. I was so overwhelmed by everything that needed to be done in a tight timeline and we needed to be sure we were not spreading the lice so I decided I needed a professional. Eliana is an expert. She literally wrote a book on lice management!!!! She was able to team with her business partner to treat my whole family and our babysitter same day. I'm so grateful to be lice free!!!!!! Eliana walked into our home with a big, genuine smile. She was warm and grounded at a time when I was losing it, which was a major bonus. She's great with kiddos, too. She also educated me on symptoms and prevention so hopefully we will not deal with this again. The exemplary service and six week guarantee really made it worth every penny. I feel well looked after and slept well. Thank you Eliana and Aldo! We appreciate you! read more

Eliana and Aldo just left our house after treating my daughter and me for lice. They're very efficient, friendly and fairly priced. Make sure to follow ALL the instructions they give you (and more important, make sure your kids' friends do too) so you don't have to be a repeat customer. read more

I booked a same day check for my daughter. I didn't think she had it but wanted to make sure after her friend's case was confirmed. Aldo was very nice and thorough. The place is in a weird bldg but the space is very bright, clean and welcoming. He had to be extra thorough as my daughter has dandruff but after 30 min he confirmed she was fine. It was a bit expensive but peace of mind is worth it. read more

Absolutely, positively hands down the best service!!! As soon as I found out that my daughter had lice, I called Larger Than Lice immediately. They had been highly recommended by many parents at my daughters school. After speaking with Eliana, she was able to send Aldo to my home within a few hours. Aldo explained everything and knew everything about lice. He was so professional, helpful, and kind. Excellent... excellent...excellent service. THANK YOU Eliana. And Aldo. read more

Eliana and Aldo are fantastic! They rescued us when both my kids got lice. They are very patient and good with the kids, did a very thorough job, and are both kind and considerate. Arrived on our doorstep under 2 hours of requesting an appointment (on a Saturday night, no less), which was totally a lifesaver. I appreciated that when they checked out my husband and myself, they went ahead and did the treatment shampoo just for good measure and gave us detailed instructions on how to be sure the lice don't make a reappearance in our household. Eliana patiently answered all of our many questions, even though they have a good FAQ on their website that mostly answered them. They are able to provide a certificate that can be necessary for schools, camps, etc. right on the spot (emailed to you). They even gave our kids pages of smiley face stickers at the end. Can't recommend highly enough! read more

I highly recommend LTL. They were referred to me by another Mom. Eliana and Aldo are professional, kind, gentle and take their job very seriously. I was comfortable with them in my home and they were very good with my 3 1/2 year old son. Eliana was at our home within 4 hours of making appointment. She deloused me, my son and husband in about 4 hours. The fee was less than if I had hired someone who worked hourly -- even including the cost of the shampoo ($30 per bottle per person) and comb ($15). The best part was, we followed the treatment protocol (shampooing every other day for 2 weeks) vs having to comb out our hair. Aldo came to check us 2 wks later (additional charge). Delousing is not cheap. The treatment is priceless...as we wanted to be rid of the lice and to be able to tell others that we were "all clear." read more

Eliana and Aldo are amazing! We spent all weekend trying to take care of our 2 girls (that have exorbitant amounts of hair) ourselves. Well, our efforts were trash and after we failed miserably we called Larger than Lice. They came right over to NJ all the way from Queens, on an Easter Sunday no less, to take care of my girls. They checked the whole family and had the patience of saints as they worked out each and every nit. How they kept my 4yo still and calm is beyond me. We are so happy with their service. I will recommend them each and every time! read more

Eliana is kind, knowledgeable, patient and thorough. I was freaking out when we found out my son and I had lice! I had a newborn baby at the time so was obviously very worried he would get it too. (Thankfully he didn't). We had the treatment in her midtown office and she gently and effectively got rid of the lice and they never returned. I highly recommend this service to anyone unfortunate enough to have this problem!! read more

LTL turned a stressful experience into a manageable one. Eliana was lovely on the phone, putting me at ease right away. Aldo came to our house and was thorough, knowledgeable, patient and gentle with my six year old and one year old! This was our second professional lice service. After the first, we were rattled and unhappy, and after Aldo, we felt cared for and under control. read more

5 stars all the way!! Eliana is very professional and has a sweet disposition. My children took a liking to her and she had the entire family lice free within a few hours. She was also very considerate and willing to work around my schedule. I would definitely recommend her! read more

Eliana is a total professional, not to mention super nice and comforting. She makes what's truly an agonizing, insane experience feel bearable and really helped put me at ease after days of feeling fearful and stressed. Eliana and her partner came to our house the day we called, so happy they were able to come the same day! I tried an at home process, and after spending a couple of hours trying to get it all out, thinking I had, my daughter began to scratch again and I saw more lice. I had to get a professional to do this. Turns out my son had it too, so she called in her partner to de-lice both of them at the same time. They checked my husband and me as well. Eliana is very sweet to the kids, making a tedious process more manageable. Thank you again! I highly recommend Eliana!! read more

Amazing! Finding out that my two daughters and me all had lice was a very traumatizing experience. Not only did the Fairy Lice Mothers get rid of lice for us, but they also made me feel so much better emotionally as well. They were calm and easy going about the situation and gave me the facts (as opposed to what I had heard) about how to treat the home and what the likelihood of friends catching it really was. I can't thank the fairies enough for helping us get through this!!! Anyone who even THINKS they may have lice, MUST go to the fairies!!!! read more

I highly recommend this service. After trying to do it myself - and failing - I called Eliana and she offered to come over right away! When she did come she was quick and efficient, and did an excellent job. I saw right away how skilled you have to be to do this the right way - I should have called her the first time! read more

I could not be happier with Eliana and Aldo's work. I called her in the afternoon, and she was able to come by later in the evening. They came to our house on time and answered all of our questions. Very professional. They did a great job and they are a great team. read more

Great experience. We had Aldo and he did a wonderful job, and was completely thorough. I love the guarantee which really put me at ease.

We are so incredibly grateful for this amazing service! So fast, helpful and great with our young kids. Highly recommend!!

I spent hours researching all of the services Yelp had to offer. I chose Eliana because of the outstanding track record she's had with previous clients. I am happy to say that I do not regret my decision. She is customer focused, a gentle soul and gets the JOB DONE! read more

Eliana was fantastic. Answered the phone at 11pm, came by the afternoon after. She found a scary amount of lice on me, but I (and the household) are clear now! Excellent service, would use again (but hopefully don't have to) read more

Eliana just left my house after checking my family for lice. She was so wonderful that I don't even know where to start! She and her assistant, Marcia, arrived at my house shortly after I called and they were right on time. They were so kind and warm, that my younger son, who is very shy around strangers, was so at ease and was acting as if they were members of the family that we have known forever. They gave all of us thorough examinations and found us lice free. Without them, we would have had to go to our pediatrician and sit in the sick office and possibly catch something. I was amazed that they were willing to come to my home, and so shortly after I called! The prices are extremely reasonable too, especially considering that they make house calls! I can't say enough good things about this experience and I must mention again that Eliana is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. It almost makes me hope we have to get checked for lice again at some point. :). Five stars all the way. read more

I never thought I would have to use a lice service but after three days of combing out my entire family for 6 hours and the problem only getting word, I saw that I needed some help. Eliana came that day and quickly got to work. She started with my children and immediately set them at ease, something I was concerned about. My children are 2 and 4 and while they like to socialize, they don't exactly like strangers combing their hair for hours on end... especially when they had done plenty of that the past couple of days. Not a problem. Not a single one of my children said even ouch. Eliana even showed me what she was doing so I could learn to do it myself. Lice fighting in NYC isn't cheap. But Eliana is reasonable, affordable, pleasant and efficient and I highly recommend her and her services read more

Eliana came and did everything I did not and could not do. I called on a Sunday, she replied promptly, and later that afternoon she was in our home. She checked the whole family, 3 out of 4 needed treatment. She was very professional and showed me how to spot a nit and lice. My 19 month old fell asleep during her treatment. My 6 year old son and I powered through 3+ hours. After watching her and her colleague, I knew there was no way I could do this. She had the patience and was the skilled expert I needed to give me the peace of mind that ALL the lice would be gone. The products she used are all natural and they smell great. After treating my bed, (as per Eliana's instructions) with peppermint oil on all our heads we all had the best night sleep. I would highly recommend her! Thanks, Eliana! read more

No one wants to have to find themselves battling lice, but Eliana makes dealing with it and getting rid of it as painless as possible! Don't hesitate if you're feeling overwhelmed by a newly discovered lice case- just contact her! We found a bug in one child's head right before bedtime. I contacted Lice Treatment Group through Yelp late that night, and very soon after at almost midnight Eliana texted me cheerfully and promised that she could be at our place at 9 am the next morning! She came in smiling, immediately put the whole family at ease, and turned out to be as professional and competent as she is sweet. She found lice in 3 out of 4 of us and then worked through our heads thoroughly, calmly and happily --through lunch -- to get the three of us treated and our heads free and clear as quickly as possible. She was so patient, kind and gentle with our kids that they did great sitting to be fully treated. (Screen time helped too- but she brings a great detangler to help make sure her work doesn't hurt-- and her personality melts fears away.) She was glad to come back the next day to check my husband after he returned from a work trip too - and happily his head was fine. (Phew!) Eliana is easy and fun to talk to and great/knowledgeable at answering any question. She left us with a shampoo and essential oil to use for 15 days and will be back to recheck us after that time period. I'm so glad to have found her and will definitely be recommending her to any friend who find their kids/families needing this service! read more
