Cold plate of fried chicken, "potato patties," and fried okra
    Bailey B.

Visited for lunch on Thursday and was unfortunately sorely disappointed. I arrived at about 12:45 and found a fairly full parking lot. The lot is a little torn up but not too bad. It's easy to get in and out. Walked around to the front and stood in the entryway for a few minutes. Didn't know the protocol since it was my first visit. Eventually, a waitress said loudly from the drink machine to seat myself, so I selected an empty booth near the kitchen. There's a lot of seating inside. I'd say the restaurant was about 1/3 full. Idk where people park when they're at capacity lol. Waitress came over and somewhat incredulously asked if I was by myself, which I confirmed. She pushed a scrap of white paper in front of me and told me to circle what I wanted and she'd pick it up. Eh...okay. It was a limited menu of meat + 3 combinations. They advertise breakfast till 1 as well as burgers and sandwiches but none of that was on there. However, the waitress' demeanor can only be described as frosty, and fortunately I was okay with my choices, so I kept to myself. But a part of me was kind of curious about breakfast for lunch. Alas. She returned with my tea wordlessly and swiped up my slip with my order. I circled a fried chicken breast with "potato patties" and fried okra. The sweet tea was the best thing I had and I enjoyed drinking it while I waited for my food. No refills or to go cups were ever offered though. I will grant the food came out fairly fast...but it also came out cold. Well, the chicken and potatoes were approximating room temperature, but the okra wasn't even lukewarm. My grouchy waitress also didn't give me any silverware and ran off before I could ask for any. I had to hunt down a different, only marginally less grouchy waitress so I could eat my food with a fork. It's a shame the okra was cold because it had a hint of potential; the breading was sort of cornmeal-y and might have once been crispy. As it was, it wasn't good at all -- the cold okra got slimy. The chicken was passable but also not nearly hot enough. The breading also needed more seasoning. The potato patties were...not patties? I was expecting something like a Jojo (small crispy potato round, thicker than a chip) or at least something circular lol, but instead I got two scoops of a sort of whipped potato casserole. This would've also been alright except it was lukewarm and, even worse, absolutely replete with still-crunchy large pieces of onion. Couldn't get a mouthful without them and left with much smellier breath. The one redeeming factor other than the tea was the bread basket: two yeast rolls and a hunk of cornbread. The cornbread was awful (bland and dry), but the yeast rolls were soft and warm and about the only food item I legitimately enjoyed -- even though, once again, my waitress left me hanging with no butter. I really couldn't wait to get out as I felt terribly unwelcome, so as soon as I ate what I could stomach I went to the marginally less unfriendly waitress and paid at the register. The price was decent (~$15 before tip). I did still tip, but I was salty -- legitimately some of the worst service I've had in a long time. I'm forgiving of long wait times and forgotten stuff, but I really don't like callous attitudes when I do my best to be pleasant and accommodating. Definitely wouldn't return. 2 stars because the food was edible and the place was clean enough. The hunt for a decent lunch in Scottsboro continues.

Dropped in at Liberty Restaurant. Kind of a local place. The menu was fairly full of options. Home cooking would be their theme if you are picking one. We both ordered omelets. They were ok. Strangely they weren't mixed. I was like an egg quesadilla. Egg flapped over the ingredients. It was ok, but not anything amazing. I'll try them again sometime when I'm in Scottsboro. The desserts looked amazing. Just next time I won't get the omelette.

We like little hole in the wall locations when we are traveling.

We had great service and food! We find this suggestion on yelp and it did not disappoint! We had breakfast and then could not resist a slice of warm pecan pie as well.

Stopped by here on Sunday on the way home from a weekend trip to Scottsboro, Alabama. It was one of the only restaurants around, just on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. We would've never thought that we would run into a celebrity inside! We actually met Duane Chapman, the bounty hunter! Lol Location: It's just off the side of the road and really the only restaurant around. It was very easy to find and not crowded. There was plenty of parking. Staff: Soo nice! I was with a group of 10 French people here temporarily in Atlanta for work. The staff were super nice and understanding. They helped explain things and gave us all of the details about the daily special and recommendations. They came to check on us regularly. The pancakes are twice the size of your head and you get two. Someone ordered them, they brought them out and the one on top was slightly smaller than the other, and they brought two more to make up for it, but the two they brought originally were already more than enough for 5 people!! Haha Experience: Great experience. It is a small country diner with great home cooked food and sweet staff! Food: They were out of grits, so I was sad about that but ended up getting the pecan waffle, scrambled eggs with cheese and hash browns, all of which was delicious. I was expecting the pecan waffles to have pecans inside or have a special syrup or something, but it was just a waffle with pecans on top. It was still good but nothing special. Price: Very affordable. I think I paid around 10$ for my meal! Improvements: Honestly none atm :)

    Dessert selection...YUM!!!

Highly recommended if you have a sweet tooth. It was a little too soft and ended up being very messy (grab a fork if you order one). Kind of a classic hipster coffee place vibe. Coffee, tea, and chai available on the menu with non-dairy options for a small charge. I had a seasonal item, the vanilla chai, which was perfectly creamy and not too sweet with a touch of cinnamon and mulled spice. The grilled chicken Casear wrap was amazing - crisp lettuce and the perfect amount of dressing to keep the meat moist without a soggy tortilla. A little on the pricey side but very refreshing for a cute lunch date or catch up.

I love visiting…read morerestaurants off the beaten path. :) About 10 minutes north of Scottsboro, this little place feels like home when you step inside. Honestly, it sort of looks like home from the outside, too! There's a sweet memorial for a dog who has passed near the front door, honoring their favorite spot, which I thought was precious. Even though I popped in only like 35 minutes til close, I was welcomed warmly and not rushed. Their menu has American classics like hamburgers, chicken tenders, sandwiches, hot dogs, onion rings, fries, etc. It seems like burgers are the main attraction here, though, so I got their take on a mushroom and Swiss burger (my fav) and some French fries. The sweet tea I had to drink was perfectly refreshing and quite sweet, just the way I like it. I do remember thinking the total was a touch high for a single patty, fairly thin burger, but it is what it is. At least it was clearly fresh and high quality, which is much more than you can say for fast food. Like I said, food was cooked fresh but still came out to me in a timely manner. Heck, the fries were still so hot I burned my mouth a teeny bit! I was just trying to eat and get out of their hair before closing, so my bad there haha. Frozen-fried crinkle cuts but they were nice and crispy. My biggest complaint about the whole experience was the salt was sort of just thrown on them in a pile at the top. So a few fries were extremelyyyyy salty and others not at all. The burger was, as expected, the star here! Cooked about medium-well, it was still plenty juicy despite the relative thinness of the patty. The mushrooms and Swiss cheese were so buttery and melty together. They add bacon to their mushroom and Swiss and honestly I could take it or leave it. Some of it wasn't as crispy as I prefer, and I think the mushrooms add the extra savory punch so bacon makes it a little heavy, but I'm honestly nit picking here. It was a very yummy burger. I very much enjoyed myself. This is the kind of spot my folks would love, so I hope to bring them back in the future, and also to come try the delightful-sounding Moon Pie banana pudding!

It's cute from the outside and clean albeit a little dated on the inside. Pastries are stored in a glass case to the left as you enter. I was somewhat surprised to see that there are full meal options to order as well. It was empty when I walked in so I'm not sure if people eat lunch here or not. I was just in for the pastries! A bell rang softly when I entered and someone emerged from the back to help me. She was nice enough and grabbed my goodies for me from the case. The selection was a little limited but it was after lunch so I bet most stuff goes in the morning. They did have a goodly number of donuts but I'm not a huge donut person. I got an orange roll and a sticky bun/pecan roll. I took them home to share with my husband later. The sticky bun was the better of the two items, with toasty nuts and a good amount of cinnamon. The orange roll suffered from the slightly medicinal taste orange flavoring often has but it was decent. Both pastries were a teeny bit on the dry side, but not offensive. I'd give the orange roll a 3/5 and the sticky bun a 4/5, so overall closer to a 3.5. Worth a try if you're craving a treat; I'm glad my curiosity has been sated!

There's an easily accessible parking lot and the interior of the restaurant is impressively large, so it was easy to accommodate our whole group. It has a little bit of a warehouse feel still honestly, not too much of a coherent "theme," but it was clean and that's about all I personally require. Of note, there's a salad bar, which I know is a somewhat rare dining feature nowadays sought after by many people. Several in my party were thrilled to see it. Service was decent, definitely a little on the slow side though to be fair such a large group certainly might've been overwhelming. They did a good job making sure all our checks were in the correct order. Friendly enough, though noncommittal when it came to making recommendations or describing dishes in more detail. Overall, acceptable. I remember chuckling because someone asked about the chicken tenders and whether they were fresh or frozen and our waitress replied she was pretty sure they were frozen. Definitely appreciated the honesty lol though it's a bit disappointing to hear. Anyway, we ran the gamut on food, it felt like -- little bit of everything. The most popular order was definitely the Philly sandwich; that's what I got. Other orders included the endless salad bar, the smash burger, the fettuccine Alfredo, spicy cauliflower, and I think one person even got the oysters. I would say the food was also just okay. Due to the size of our party, I didn't hear comments from everyone about every item. Again, the salad bar was super well received. The smash burger was good, too, or so I'm told. For my Philly cheesesteak, I thought they skimped a little on the meat and what meat was there was tough and super thin -- reminded me of Steak-Umms. Despite the other toppings, it just wasn't as rich or flavorful as I expect of a cheesesteak. The fries were frozen then fried but at least had a nice little sprinkling of seasoning, salt, pepper, etc. The person who got the fettuccine alfredo was pretty unhappy; there wasn't much chicken in it and she said the noodles were beyond overcooked. She didn't eat even half of it. Overall, I'd rate this place as pretty average across all dimensions, with some strengths and some weaknesses. The salad bar and large, welcoming space were definitely the highlights for our party.
