Visited for lunch on Thursday and was unfortunately sorely disappointed…read more I arrived at about 12:45 and found a fairly full parking lot. The lot is a little torn up but not too bad. It's easy to get in and out. Walked around to the front and stood in the entryway for a few minutes. Didn't know the protocol since it was my first visit. Eventually, a waitress said loudly from the drink machine to seat myself, so I selected an empty booth near the kitchen. There's a lot of seating inside. I'd say the restaurant was about 1/3 full. Idk where people park when they're at capacity lol. Waitress came over and somewhat incredulously asked if I was by myself, which I confirmed. She pushed a scrap of white paper in front of me and told me to circle what I wanted and she'd pick it up. Eh...okay. It was a limited menu of meat + 3 combinations. They advertise breakfast till 1 as well as burgers and sandwiches but none of that was on there. However, the waitress' demeanor can only be described as frosty, and fortunately I was okay with my choices, so I kept to myself. But a part of me was kind of curious about breakfast for lunch. Alas. She returned with my tea wordlessly and swiped up my slip with my order. I circled a fried chicken breast with "potato patties" and fried okra. The sweet tea was the best thing I had and I enjoyed drinking it while I waited for my food. No refills or to go cups were ever offered though. I will grant the food came out fairly fast...but it also came out cold. Well, the chicken and potatoes were approximating room temperature, but the okra wasn't even lukewarm. My grouchy waitress also didn't give me any silverware and ran off before I could ask for any. I had to hunt down a different, only marginally less grouchy waitress so I could eat my food with a fork. It's a shame the okra was cold because it had a hint of potential; the breading was sort of cornmeal-y and might have once been crispy. As it was, it wasn't good at all -- the cold okra got slimy. The chicken was passable but also not nearly hot enough. The breading also needed more seasoning. The potato patties were...not patties? I was expecting something like a Jojo (small crispy potato round, thicker than a chip) or at least something circular lol, but instead I got two scoops of a sort of whipped potato casserole. This would've also been alright except it was lukewarm and, even worse, absolutely replete with still-crunchy large pieces of onion. Couldn't get a mouthful without them and left with much smellier breath. The one redeeming factor other than the tea was the bread basket: two yeast rolls and a hunk of cornbread. The cornbread was awful (bland and dry), but the yeast rolls were soft and warm and about the only food item I legitimately enjoyed -- even though, once again, my waitress left me hanging with no butter. I really couldn't wait to get out as I felt terribly unwelcome, so as soon as I ate what I could stomach I went to the marginally less unfriendly waitress and paid at the register. The price was decent (~$15 before tip). I did still tip, but I was salty -- legitimately some of the worst service I've had in a long time. I'm forgiving of long wait times and forgotten stuff, but I really don't like callous attitudes when I do my best to be pleasant and accommodating. Definitely wouldn't return. 2 stars because the food was edible and the place was clean enough. The hunt for a decent lunch in Scottsboro continues.

The overall feel of the diner was an old school classic mom and pops place. If you are looking for a local joint with good food, this would be it. We went for breakfast, it was great.

We had the pulled chicken sandwich, noting the portion options (5 oz small and 8 oz large). The small was very generous and more than satisfying. We paired it with a side of onion rings, which were cooked perfectly. The white sauce was excellent, and the vinegar-based BBQ sauces were thin and authentic classic Alabama-style BBQ. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich basket with a side salad, and it was excellent. The pork was served hot (not just warm), clean, not fatty, and very moist. The lightly toasted bun added great texture and pulled everything together. The kids had chicken tenders and fries, and everything came out fresh, hot, and delicious. The staff really stood out, friendly, welcoming, and happy to explain the food and sauces. You can tell they care about both their food and their customers. Overall, Boarhog's BBQ offers generous portions, authentic flavors, and great service. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back.

For…read moreyears, since they opened I would frequent here and the Meridianville location to the point where anytime someone comes for a visit they always beg for a Bacon Egg and Cheese Biscuit from Biscuit Express. I used to always get the bologna egg and cheese biscuit and the bologna was always thick and perfection. The breakfast platters? Amazing. But lately... things have taken a turn and I have tried, like really really tried like at least 10 visits giving them the benefit of the doubt and today I actually drove away. 27 mins from the time I got in line to the order box. With 6 cars in from of me. Total. Not 6 cars in front of me before the order box, but 6 cars total from the window to me. 27 minutes to get up to the speaker box and another 2 mins before they asked what i wanted for my order. This isn't a we were having a busy busy morning issue either. This is repetitive. This is the new normal. At least 30 mins to get your order taken and a good 5-10 mins to get your food. Average drive thru take 4-6 mins from start to finish. Even on the longer side maybe 10 mins, but 27 mins just seems to get up to the speaker box to order? Come on. Then they changed the eggs.. I know .. how dare they streamline their business. I'm all for that, but they started baking their eggs in like a sheet pan. So you get a "slice" of egg on your biscuit, which is completely different than the old eggs, which were liquid eggs and that was completely fine and delicious, but these new eggs, definitely baked, definitely "trying" and definitely lacking. So now my favorite thing has went from a bologna egg and cheese biscuit to maybe I'll just get a bologna biscuit. I've even been just to get a side of bologna because I do love their bologna. I've been just to get a soft drink, one of their new loaded drinks or coffees, I've been at lunch and ordered the bacon express burger no tomato, and got charged for extra tomatoes and then had no tomato Ive tried and I keep trying but the wait times are horrible, the new eggs... eh, the biscuits are great as always but just everything else is lacking. Like I've been through the line before when I was probably 20 cars in front of me with the line standing still in Moore's mill and from the time I got in line to get my food used to be maybe 15 mins TOPS. I really wish things would improve because I do want the new owners to succeed, it's just, this is "fast food" and it's lacking in many areas.
