Large gas stations with amazing snacks. Me and my team went to play at nationals for football (…read moresoccer) and we stoped here early in the morning and I just have to say their breakfast options are incredible. My favorite snack without a doubt is their own chocolate, specifically the dark chocolate.

Buc-ee's is a gas station/restaurant/convenient store/rest stop/bakery/tourist destination that…read moreepitomizes Texas. It's big, friendly, busy, and a must stop if you're driving on a Texas highway. Buc-ee's is also known for having super clean bathrooms, which makes it a must visit. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Facility, Return) Atmosphere - If Walmart and 7/11 had a baby, it would be Buc-ee's. If you're visiting on a weekend, expect Buc-ee's to be very busy, inside and out. As you walk in, you'll be amazed that this is not your ordinary gas station. Buc-ee's has a BBQ station, sweets (like fudge), a section dedicated to beef jerky, drinks, merch, and even clothes. And in the center there will be (lots of) people lined up to use their clean bathrooms. 1 Star. Service - The staff is very nice and extremely efficient. There are tons of people to help you check out at each entrance, so what looks like a long line moves extremely fast. Seriously, you get in and out in no time. 1 Star. Facility - The BBQ sandwiches are legit, the Beaver Nuggets make a fun gift, you can buy any snack item you want, and the ICEE machines are always full. But for me, I never leave Buc-ee's without buying the Candied Pecans. The sweet, warm nuts are packaged in a paper cone that fits perfectly in my hand, so it's a perfect snack on the last leg home. But I can't stress this enough, the Buc-ees bathrooms are very clean. There are multiple stalls, so you never have to wait long. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I look forward to visiting Buc-ee's on every single road trip I take. Even if I don't need gas or need to use the bathroom, Buc-ee's is a welcome stop. 1 Star.

Stopped at Murphy's tonight to get a few things a coke and a bag of chips. James the store manager…read more(refused his last name) was behind the counter. He advised me I couldn't be in there without a mask. In all fairness Bell county had been set to require masks beginning at midnight tonight. That requirement would have been that the business and customer could have been subjected to a fine but that order was rescinded by the county commissioner court Monday afternoon. Thinking the employee may not have been aware I politely made him aware. James said he was aware of the change. I am not normally one to press the issue BUT I am also not one to have someone tell me what to do. I politely told him it was not required by the county, state, or federal government. James advised me it was recommended by the government for them to encourage wearing of masks. I asked James if he was refusing me service because I exercised my right to not wear a mask. James basically agreed that was what he was saying because the government encourages wearing the mask. I asked if he was discriminating against me for exercising my right to not wear a mask. James advised me he wasn't discriminating against me for exercising my right to not wear a mask but he would refuse me for not wearing a mask. Maybe, James was discriminating against me for not wearing a mask, maybe it was due to my disability or age but he claimed the issue was the mask. James also pointed out he had the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. Seeing we were at an impasse I wanted to make sure it was corporate policy to refuse service to anyone not wearing a mask. James advised me several times it was corporate policy and it was not discriminating against me for exercising my right to not wear a mask. I understand both sides of wearing a mask. James was wearing a slip over covering with some design appeared to be a skull (I didn't get close enough to see) not a surgical mask, not an N95 mask. I seriously believe like most people James probably touches his face, products others have handled, money as a cashier, eats or drinks while at work and touches his covering. Like many people the covering goes up and down through the day probably touching the inside and outside of the covering. Like some maybe the covering gets washed or sanitized daily but maybe not. I'm pretty sure like most he doesn't maintain a completely sterile procedure. I also didn't notice James wearing gloves or sanitizing the drink I set on the counter. I also find it interesting that Murphy's and James who show great concern about masks and six foot rules have nobody monitoring their six foot rule or masks at the fuel pumps. I also noticed that Murphy's and James appear not to be concerned about selling cigarettes or alcohol which impact the health of customers or others. Tobacco products have a surgeon general warning of health risks alcohol has health risks for customers and others (look a family member who lost a loved one to dwi in the eye) so I doubt the concern for others health. They don't have a corporate refusal policy aligned with the recommendation as long as your legal age and you can pay the best I can tell. I can only come to the conclusion Murphy's and or James is discriminating against me for exercising my right not to wear a mask, because of my disability, or my age.

The other day my buddy brought me here; and it was GREAT! (Yes he's known about it for 3yrs and frequently went without me...A$$#%&@ !! It's a gas station diner. From the outside it looks like a rough truck stop surrounded by farm trucks and big rigs. And on the inside it's no-frills but the smell of good food lingers everywhere and sounds of hustling people coming and going. Ordering is done at the counter, the staff were amazingly friendly and the quality of food could stand alone as purely Awesome...home-cooking at its Very Beat!! It's filling and fair priced most items under $10. At certain times of the day finding an open table is impossible!! Yesterday I had a hamburger steak covered with brown gravy and grilled onions with fries. Today it was fried catfish and a salad. Honestly the food was so good from the day before, I had to come try something different. Anyway if you're looking for a unique experience in a diner setting out in the almost complete middle of nowhere, and/or looking for friendly service almost beyond friendly though like you're family, and/or looking for some Really Great Hill Country Homestyle cooking...then come check out Pruitt's!! Now ya know where it's at!
