The cabins (2 houses with 4 cabins each) are contemporary ranch style I guess - big back porch with view of small river where you can fish if you want. Big queen beds, TV, coffee maker, etc. The sporting clays course is challenging and also has nice river views. First rate carts, nice gun shop. The place, once you get there, feels very private - only one minor road with little traffic passes by it. There's an astounding exotic game collection - buffalo, elk, bison, zebra, and too many types of deer to mention, even bald eagles - right outside your car window. 5 star service at every turn. There were animals all around; so my son got a five dollar feed bucket and visited a good many animals. The wagon beds were great, came with a/c, a lantern and a tv. They are also linked to an rv resort with a pool just across the road so we spent the afternoon there. It was a great way to spend the night. I would have loved to try the food but we were a bit late to the game and had to leave out too early My only caveat, while I appreciate the in person welcome, my brain cannot process the explanation of the whole book. You need an abbreviated version for parents. I literally forgot half of what we were told before she was finished. They.have lodging, a restaurant, a spa, and animal encounters as well, I can only speak for our one night though. 1 recommendation- bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper, dogs, peacocks and roosters aren't known for quiet. Our guide gave a fascinating talk about the history of filming, the ranch's rental process, and behind-the-scenes stories that really brought the show to life. We also got to walk around the ranch, see the small horses or ponies, and browse a tiny gift shop. It was amazing to experience in person something I'd watched on TV for so many years - and on the other side of the continent, no less! The whole experience was nostalgic, charming, and genuinely fun. If you love Dallas or just want to see an iconic TV ranch in real life, Southfork is absolutely worth the visit.
