Friendly and knowledgeable staff, prices for food is reasonable, but many of animals are stuffed in small cages with little to no plants or grass in many cages, mostly just dirt/mid. ***But I want to highlight the great staff and acknowledge they do seem to truly care about the animals***. The owner mentions in a response to another review regarding the cages that they are up to code, but they seem to be offering the bare minimum to meet code. Almost like they wanted to focus on quantity vs quality when it came to animals. The bobcats, for example, are in a tiny cage with just dirt and raised cement (foundation wise, they otherwise do have a dog house for a den and some foliage and a bed). Not sure why the alligator's cage has concrete at all. The beautiful white tiger is just in dirt as well with an exposed bed (no privacy) that looks uncomfortable and worn, and I am not exactly sure what to call it, a watering hole that barely fits the tiger in it and it's dirty. On top of that, it has a wound/missing fur on its arms/elbows probably because it doesn't have proper foliage/landscaping and a comfortable bed to rest on.. I understand this zoo likely doesn't have the costs to properly upkeep the animals in every regard and the staff seem to genuinely care for them, but the living conditions for many of the animals are concerning. Funding is tight I am sure, I only hope that renovations are made to many of these cages whether it be more more foliage, healthy grass installed, privacy for the animals, cage size increased, or something else to improve living conditions. Of course health and food are top priority, but a proper living environment surely contributes to their health. I am sure just adding (healthier) grass to these cages will make a difference for the animals. read more

Brought my kids here during spring break. Very beautiful drive out to this place. It wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be when pulling up. Everything is outside. They have a gift shop/restaurant, food truck area, play ground and of course the animals. The big cats are beautiful but the enclosures are a bit small in my opinion; they seem sad... the bears too. The place is kept well; hand washing stations are available along with hand sanitizer stations. You can feed most of the animals. They have feeding stations or you can hand feed. My kids loved the playground and the feeding of the animals of course. Something fun to bring the kids too. read more

Unlike the poor review by Julia Y this is actually very well priced because the proceeds go to these animals which are rescues. The staff is super friendly every time I have been there and they have a very good selection of animals from white tiger to spotted hyena (which I've never seen at a zoo). This isn't a traditional zoo so comparing the two is senseless. If your looking for a budget zoo this isn't your place but if your looking for a feel good place with a staff that cares about the animals and a cool place to go on family outings and cool interactions with lions and tigers and bears, oh my! We had such a lovely time at the petting zoo. They have both a good variety of animals (pigs, goats, caws, zebras, a lion, monkeys, bears, etc). You can walk around and feed the animals, or walk into the petting areas (goats). They have Two play grounds one for smaller kids, and other for bigger kids. They also have an shop inside (but it was close when we went). The place gets busy right around 11 AM on the weekends. My nephew is two and he was so happy with the place. We had such a good time that forgot to take pictures, but will do next time. read more

This Zoo/petting zoo is fantastic and one of the better maintained zoos that we've been to. Most of the animals are active and have large enclosures and enough room to run around, spacious, and clean. Of course a zoo is not idyllic and my husband and I don't typically support them. However, this one was unique and again, well maintained. Animals were friendly, clean and active. Our toddler daughter absolutely loved it and the two separate park play areas are great for kids!!! Very cool place! Definitely not your average zoo so if you expected big caves and waterfalls and all the bells and whistles, as some reviews seem to have, you may be disappointed. But this ranch is home to some very amazing animals that are clearly loved and well taken care of. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our time at Sharkarosa. They have lions, bears, camels, cows, pigs, kangaroos, lemurs, goats, alpacas, an alligator, and more. The staff puts on a "show" every 20 minutes throughout the day where you can learn about the animals, watch them eat, and pepper the staff with questions. We went on a Friday in February and it was not crowded at all. Some of the shows were just us and the staff member - it felt like a private tour! Many of the animals are friendly and like to be fed. Be sure to pick up feed bags (3 bags for $10) when you enter the facility. The goats are particularly eager to eat and my kids loved entering their enclosure to feed them. Check their website for BOGO Friday deals. We went on the first Friday of the month and got 4 free child admissions with the purchase of our 4 adult admissions. There was no charge for parking and we packed a picnic lunch. We arrived at park opening (9am) and left around 1pm, which was enough time to attend most of the shows, walk the whole park, and feed all the animals twice. Every staff member is friendly, knowledgeable, and very patient in answering our never ending questions. Masks are optional because the entire park is outdoors and it's easy to socially distance. This place is awesome. Can't believe I've never heard of it. Came as a recommendation from Monica at the Black Mustang Ranch just up the street. Nice selection of animals, kind of a refuge for animals saved from the selfishness of humans. They were all very kid friendly and we never felt like we were in harms way. Staff was on the ball with animal shows every 30 minutes like clockwork. The staff was well educated on the animals they presented and you could tell they loved their jobs. Let's start with the good stuff, they have a decent amount of animal exhibits for their size and my favorite thing was that you could feed the animals in quite a few of the exhibits which I had a lot of fun doing. Now for the stuff that I didn't like, A good portion of the exhibits are common domesticated animals such as but not limited to cows, horses, and goats. Now don't get me wrong they do have a good portion of exotic and wild animals and they should get the credit for that but it is called a wildlife ranch which to me indicates animals of the wild Not animals I can see driving down back country roads. My final thoughts on the matter are I probably wouldn't go back myself but we did have a fun time while we were there and I would recommend at least checking it out once if you're in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to make it happen. Unfortunately about 80% of this place was just monkeys and lemurs in metal boxes. They did have some farm animals that were fun for the kids to feed, but otherwise it was a bunch of sickly looking wild animals that we felt bad for. We paid over $50 for our family of four (two children) and animal food. Bonus point to the zookeeper who, when my 4 year old asked about the pony rides we saw online, told her all the ponies had died. She cried the rest of the time we were there. If you really want to feed farm animals, I'd recommend the free petting farm in Gunter. If you want to see wild animals, the Ft Worth Zoo or Dallas Zoo are of course better options, and more inexpensive as well. read more

Very cute ranch and you can tell they really care for the animals. Plenty of animals to feed and some you can pet. I came for the capybaras. Sadly you can't get very close to Them and you can't pay to pet them because the two capybaras they had are older and they don't want to startle them. Great way to spend a Sunday! We got there at 10am when they opened, only a handful of people. $5 for parking, $12 per adult, and $10 for 4 bags of food (get this, don't get the one bag for $3....the food makes the experience!). Under $40 and way more interactive than the zoo! Great selection of animals...camels, alpaca, kangaroos, cows, horses, sloths!, zebra, etc etc. the tram ride is fun, save your food for those animals! Suggestions! 1-if it recently rained, wear sneakers or a good pair of shoes you don't mind getting muddy. Also, the petting area with goats....they jump with muddy, poopy feet so be warned before you go in. They will basically swarm you if you have food. I'd suggest doing this last if it's muddy or bring like a poncho lol 2-your hands will be filthy. They have a sink in the beginning area by the sloths you can wash your hands thankfully. Cute little zoo. This is mainly for the younger kids but definitely a fun visit for the family.

I came here for a field trip. We first started off at the tram ride. You go to the area that has horses that you're allowed to pet. Then you go to a second area with other exotic animals such as zebras, potbelly pigs, and llamas. The third area has camels. You're allowed to pet these animals. Then we were brought to an area with lemurs. In this area students were taught about lemur behaviors and the possible extinction of lemurs. They brought out a lemur for students to touch. We were then brought to a kangaroo area. The students were taught about the biology and physiology of the red female kangaroo. This part of the tour gave more information about the kangaroo species. The strange part was our field trip was over in 90 minutes. This was the shortest field trip I have ever been on. read more

Sharkarosa is the perfect place for a day date! My fiancé and I went there today to celebrate my 30th birthday. Not knowing what to expect-we were completely blown away by both the staff & the animals. Every single person we talked to was knowledgeable and passionate about the animals and their work. Special shout out to Kelsey who truly went above and beyond to connect, educate and give us a one of kind experience at the end of a long hot day! The animals were amazing. We had so much fun playing with the goats including 2 baby goats that were only a few days old and feeding the camels. Zion the lemur was a complete sweetheart and we were pleasantly surprised by how active all the animals were including Brutus the bearcat who was so excited when they brought his lunch! We went here for my son's 8th birthday and he loved it. Most of the people are very nice and love talking about the animals and answering questions. He absolutely loved seeing and learning about the animals. The only thing I was disappointed about was, since the tram ride is closed, you don't get to see the animals that are out there. So we went expecting to get to walk around a 126 acre ranch full of animals, but you really only have access to a small portion of it right now. Just one of the many things COVID-19 has ruined... We still had fun and learned a lot. One other thing, the petting zoo is just goats and miniature cows and horses. Animals that, personally, we see everyday, but I guess they can't put lions in the petting zoo. They did have some camels you could feed and pet through a fence. That's was cool! It can be a little pricy, but check Groupon for deals, They are also really great about donating tickets to schools and non-profits which is awesome! I would recommend going during a time other than summer or holidays. Those times are super packed, and very hot in the summer. Other days are nice and you can take your time seeing all the animals and watching shows without all the crowds. They take you on a tram ride out into the fields to feed camels, zeedonks, emu, and all kinds of other animals. Feed is extra so make sure you bring some cash. The animals have plenty of space to wonder and appear to be well taken care of. They have two bears, lots of lemurs, monkeys, kangaroo, sloths, and tons of other animals. Make sure you don't miss the feeding zoo. There are numerous animals waiting to be petted and fed. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about all the animals. This place was really neat! My kids are 16 and 18 and at first they agreed to go just to appease me lol but... They ended up liking it it was very informative and allowed you to get up close to the animals the train ride through the safari part was cool! All the animals came up to the train so we could feed and take their pics. We were there about an hour and a half which was perfect you can tell the staff really love the animals and are passionate about their care. These animals are rescues and it is great to see them getting the care they need. The zoo was a very pleasant experience. The petting zoo was fun and enjoyable. Feeding the animals throughout our visit was an enlightenment. The zoo caretaker and workers were very nice and helpful. The information they gave us on each animal they had on the property was a good insight on not just how the animals live and hunt but also whey they are there. You can tell they care about every animal they have there, not only that but wants to educate the public as well on the respect for them. Great little place for a family day trip, kids can feed several different animals and the safari ride is just perfect with the option for up close feedings and petting. I loved this place. While it was not necessarily the wild life rescue that i was expecting ( i think i was expecting more local animals), it does seem that the staff is knowledgeable and kind to their animals. They also re-habiliatte local animals with the goal to release them back to the wild though I did not see any of those animals on my trip. There seems to a good amount of space for the animals and it is overall a fun and interesting outing. Overall, think a great outing with family, with many presentations and of course the tram ride ( that takes you out to the horse/zebra, camel, alpaca enclosures where you can feed the animals) and multiple presentation with different animals throughout the day. They also have the bear cafe with pretty good pizza and wings which is a cool time eating by the live bears --a fun experience especially on a warm day.They even have pony rides for the kids.
