I understand - they're trying to save face. Maybe try by actually being reputable. These people sold me a TOTAL TRASH car that needed THOUSANDS of dollars of work. They wouldn't negotiate on the sticker price on the lot, saying the "condition of the car was factored into the price." Yeah right! If that was the case, the car should have cost about $400. You can believe them, or you can believe me - we're both strangers to you. But I promise you: they will sell you a crap car, lie to your face while doing it, then lie to you more when you tell them they sold you a crap car. A lot of their online reviews are positive, I'm assuming they scammed ppl into writing those, too. Believe their lies if you want, but you've been warned.

Two days past and still no call so I called them and they told me the car is ready perfectly fine just a gasket and they fixed it. They will not refund me for a $50 gasket. I argued with the owner Joe saying I wanted a refund if there was one problem with the car I'm sure there will be more he ensured me the car is in excellent condition and that I bought the best warranty that would cover everything. Not even a month later my check engine light comes on and my car is making a loud noise. I bring it to a mechanic and there is over $4800 in damage to the car. The warranty is only covering $890 of the total damage and I paid $2400 for the warranty. I totally got ripped off so much for joe being a stand up guy like he said. Do not buy a car from A-Kar Auto Sales, Middletown, NJ. My experience is identical to Beau M.'s…read moreexperience, dated Nov 15, 2024. I bought a 2013 Ram from A-Kar and at first glance all looked well. Charlie gave me a CARFAX report stating it had only Minor Damage. On my 84 mile trip back home I noticed a very wobbly front end and it bounced repeatedly from the smallest bump in the road. Exceeding 60 mph was life threatening. I couldn't help but recall Charlie's statement, "This, vehicle has passed the A-Kar 42 point inspection." The following week I took it to two separate, trusted, independent local repair centers and each had the same report. The front struts on both sides, Sway Bars both sides, Upper Ball Joints {Control Arms} both sides were damaged and must be replaced. Wire was used to hold the gas tank in place and the rear section of the frame was severely rotted and the frame was heavily rusted. Someone tried to cover the rust using Bondo and sprayed it black. The following day I called Charlie at A-Kar with the repair center reports. He was apologetic and told me to bring it back and he would have all the repairs completed. He said he did not personally inspect the truck before it was released and he was sorry for the inconvenience. Because of the danger in driving , I contracted AAA towing to pick the truck up at my home and take it back on that 84 mile to Middletown. At the same time I followed up in my car to speak to Charlie but it was Wednesday, his day off. The following day we spoke and he said the A-Kar service shop had it up on the lift and had started the work. He said I would be able to pick it up in 5 to 7 days. They had the truck seven weeks. I would call weekly to get a progress report. Each time Charlie would say they are making progress. Finally on July 11 Charlie said the truck was ready. Once back home, I took it back to the same repair shops to learn the only thing that was done in the seven weeks they had it was the gas tank strap was replaced. A summary of my experience at A-Kar is this, it's an environment of Lies, Deceit, Fraud and Trickery. I wish I had read the reviews of others before I bought there. Maybe perhaps my experience will help someone else. Run away from this place as fast as you can.

A short time later a staff member came by with a basket filled with individually wrapped granola bars. Linh came over shortly after to inform me the inspection was done and I was just waiting for car to be washed. Soon after she came back with my paperwork in hand and showed me to the cashier. The car was spotless and I received my invoice which detailed all that was done and a print out of the multi-point inspection breakdown.
