This is the State Farm office with Tim Brion on West Broad Street…read more We had our home and auto insurance here for a while up until about a year and a half ago when out of the blue State Farm chose to raise our homeowners rate about 10% and our auto almost 15%. Speaking with Tim about this he explained that since State Farm was a mutual insurance company it meant that the policy holders owned the company so when a part of the company, State Farm Bank in this case, has a bad year premiums must go up to cover downturns in profits that the company is anticipating. While that's a nice explanation, Tim's staff did little to look for any ways to try and save us money nor did they try and work with our coverage levels. I was simply told that there was nothing that could be done. So I told them to prepare for us to cancel with State Farm and about a week later we left to go with another company. I sent Tim an email informing him of this and told him of the dates that I would need our State Farm coverages dropped and he in turn responded with a long winded "warning" email about not understanding how another company could be cheaper and to watch out for low "teaser" rates that might blow up in my face. He also asked a ball park range for what our new rates were. I told him that in the process of shopping around every company I tried beat State Farm's auto quote by hundreds of dollars a year and while their homeowners quote was competitive, when coupled with the auto for a multi-policy discount State Farm wasn't even close to being the best price for the same coverage compared to other companies like Erie or Allstate. So while Tim is a nice guy, his company's hard line price increase coupled with his lack of wanting to try to keep my business made it an easy choice to move to another company.

She was very courteous and didn't waste time getting down to my visit. First she was helpful to show me what coverage I had with my current carrier and explained where I may have a gap in my coverage. And also went further to help explain why I should consider moving the coverage up. What was even more beneficial was being able to see my quotes for the same coverage (both State Farm versus my prior carrier) and what it would look like with more coverage. And then taking it one step further to actually analyse my coverage to help me understand better what was what. I think that was a major selling point for me with this agency. That they were willing to work with my situation and help me decide. And not tell me what to do. I did notice a slight increase in my premium by switching but it was completely worth it. I ended up only paying around $20 extra a month for more coverage. And that's not something you always see. I was so pleased with my experience I also have my renter's through Tim Brion's agency as well. And so far I have been having a great experience dealing with the staff. More importantly the initial process of binding coverage and also getting the original quotes was easy. Which is all I feel like we are looking for. Easy, Customer Focused, and affordable.

Greg took the time to explain what each item was, gave me examples, and was patient with my inexperienced questions. As it turns out I was underinsured for my car insurance and was able to pay the same amount with erie for a policy that covered me 12x the amount my old company was offering. For the same items of my home insurance I also saved about $200 switching to erie. It's been about 3 years and Robertson now has our families auto and home policies. "J" has been a patient and knowledgeable advisor about adjusting coverages to fit our families needs and is very prompt in returning my calls/emails and answering my questions. The rub against getting a policy with Erie is that if you have a claim or a potential claim their customer service/claims staff are surprisingly atrocious but at the very least Robertson sells policies from other companies as well although most of the other companies I had never heard of.
