I was absolutely scared out of my mind finding the first school for her to attend. She is my second child. My first child is non verbal autistic, so I'm only used to dealing with the special Ed part of public schools. This was my first time finding a school for my child who can understand things, learn academically, ECT. I know for a fact I am spelling her name wrong-but you pronounce the name as "Ms. Ken". When I dropped my daughter off for the first day of school, I absolutely fell in love with Ms Ken. And for the entire year, Ms. Ken has been the most amazing, most compassionate, most caring teacher I have ever experienced. My daughter has learned the alphabet, counting her numbers, about all kinds of animals, and SO much more, in just one year. She even came home one day and said all 12 months-i didn't even know she knew all her months!! I was shocked and SO proud of her! I feel like my daughter has blossomed in the one year she has been with peppertree. You can tell Ms Ken is so passionate about her job. I am SO happy that Ms. Ken was my daughter's first teacher experience she got to have for her first time going to any school ever. I am also so thankful that my daughter has learned the love of America at this school as well. She always has projects coloring red, white and blue stuff and she always gets excited saying "mom I drew the American flag colors today!". It is SO important for kids to learn love for their country at an early age, and you just never see that appreciation of America in public schools anymore, so that's oe thing I am SO grateful for. My child loves America and learns about America in Ms Kens class. I'm so happy about that. Ms Cheryl, the director is a ray of sunshine. Every morning I drop my daughter off, Ms Cheryl greets us with the warmest welcome, and never forgets to say goodbye when we leave. It's those little gestures that makes us feel so comfortable. When I first toured the school, the focus was entirely on how much I would be paying, what discounts I could get if I signed up immediately, and what payment method I would use. Not a single word about safety, cleanliness, curriculum, or care standards. Only money. I should have walked away then, but desperate for care, I enrolled him. I still carry guilt for that decision. The promises they make during enrollment, like daily photo updates and reports on feedings, naps, and diapers, are completely empty. Over two months, I received only seven photo updates. Daily reports were not sent during the day, only after pick-up, leaving me completely clueless about my son's well-being while he was there. The infant and toddler rooms are combined, creating a chaotic environment totally unsuitable for babies. My son routinely got only 8-12 minute naps for the entire day. When I asked for help working on his sleep, I was met with blank stares. Their nap policy is basically to wait until a baby accidentally falls asleep on the floor before moving them into a crib. Babies are often left crying on the floor or stuck between gates. I witnessed a teacher step on a baby's hand and saw firsthand how overwhelmed and exhausted the staff are. I even overheard a teacher gossiping to a new hire about how much she "hated" a child on the preschool side, setting a toxic tone for a child she had never even met. Illness spreads like wildfire in this place. Their sick policy is practically meaningless. Babies with green mucus, rashes, and other clear signs of illness are allowed to stay as long as they do not have a fever. They mishandled my son's breastmilk bottles, letting milk leak and go to waste. They regularly used the wrong size diapers, leaving him soaked and uncomfortable. Items clearly labeled with his name routinely went missing. AND THIS IS CRITICAL: at no point was I asked to provide my son's immunization records or a physician's report. In California, licensed daycare centers are legally required to verify and maintain up-to-date immunization records for every child upon enrollment. Discovery Isle Oceanside simply ignored this law. If they are failing basic legal requirements for safety, what else are they overlooking behind closed doors? When I raised concerns to the principal, I was ignored. The only time she responded was to demand 30 days' payment because I was withdrawing him. She had no interest in addressing the serious issues I raised. Only the money mattered. Maybe for older children this place barely scrapes by. But for infants, it is absolutely unsafe, unsanitary, and not worth the risk. Learn from my mistake and stay far, far away.

You do not have to fit into a cookie cutter schedule, ours went from M, Th, F to 5 days a week. They have early drop off (at 7AM) and pick up as late at 6PM! There was a leadership change recently and the staff handled it amazingly. The New Director, Ms. Suzette, is so on top of it, she is super approachable, gives us multiple notices about upcoming events so we don't miss out and has even started a Teacher of the Month program. For a group of people who already had great morale, she has made the team even stronger! Our son is very kind and somewhat timid when you first meet him. Ms. Kylee has made him feel confident and comfortable trying and doing new things. Watching him grow in her class has been amazing! He has come home using sign language, singing songs, teaching us how to do yoga and so much more. She even helped us on his potty training journey! When we do things as a family on the weekend, he always says he wants to tell Ms. Kylee when he goes back to school "tomorrow". Even the owner, Ms. Segal, has taken the time to get to know us and has really helped us get comfortable quickly. As a busy mom herself, she has so much patience and understanding when it comes to making sure our babies are taken care of. When choosing a school, we read reviews.
