We have had an exceptional experience at Discovery Preschool and could not be more grateful for our son's time here. Our son entered the infant classroom at four months old and as a first time parent I had so many fears and concerns regarding childcare, I sobbed the day we dropped him off for the first time. Over a year later our family has to relocate, and on his last day in the toddler room I cried again, but this time out of genuine sadness to leave our Discovery family. Sally, Jen, and the staff have provided unconditional care, demonstrated professionalism, and shared their expertise in a way that has exceeded my expectations for childcare. Our son attended Discovery from ages 1-4 and we were very happy with our experience here. We were moving from out of state, and I did most of my research online, and was very impressed with their reviews, and my overall impression of the daycare. Our son was sad to move from the infant room to the toddler room simply because he had become so attached to his teachers! But once he adjusted to the toddler room he did great. The teachers were very caring, and if there were any ouchies or bumps to report from the day, always presented us with the accident report very timely. I also appreciate how they provide lunch and snacks for the kids, as that is one thing to check off the list when you are a busy working parent. Choosing a preschool for our son was challenging until we came across Discovery Preschool. The best decision we made. We had taken tours in different preschools but my son gravitated to Discovery as soon as we walked in. He felt so comfortable and knew right away this was the school for him. Since day 1 he enjoyed going to school every day and always talked about all the fun crafts he made. The teachers were always super nice and greeted you with a smile. My son was introduced to different types of foods that he really enjoyed that we didn't think he would like. One of the things that I think set aside from other preschools we toured was that they taught Spanish twice a week. He learned the days, weeks, months, and numbers in Spanish and started to practice his Spanish more at home. They also had a gymnastics coach come in twice a month and would do fun physical activities that my son would look forward to. My son would love it when the school sent out the monthly calendar news/event at the beginning of the month because he always wanted to know when Pajama Day would be or what silly outfit they would need to wear. One of the best things we loved was receiving his weekly worksheets and seeing the progress he was making. He learned how to write his name, count to 100, learn the shapes, learn the seasons, the days of the week, the months, sing positive songs, sight words, and much more. Discovery Preschool has helped my son so much that his Kindergarten teacher was AMAZED by how advanced he is with his curriculum. She explained the curriculum Kindergarten students are to know by now and by the end of the year. She expressed that my son already knows his capital letters, lowercase letters, consonant sounds, number recognition to 100, his math (addition), high-frequency sight words, shapes, writing his full name, and much more! We can't thank enough this school for nurturing, teaching, and helping my son become an amazing student and rocking Kindergarten from day 1. We appreciate the kindness, patience, support, and the love they provided my son. You can really feel the love here! The teachers all care deeply for the kids, and the kids love being there. We started our son at Discovery when he was 11 weeks old. We had toured several daycares and we just got the right vibe from Discovery. We also loved the size. It was small enough that there was a home-y and caring feel, but large enough that there were lots of resources and activities for the kids. We only needed care for our son on Thursdays and Fridays and they were able to accommodate. The owner (Sally) is so sweet and loving and personally knows each one of the kids at the school. All of the teachers are so good with the kids. They are patient, loving, and understanding. They keep parents updated throughout the day on feedings, diaper changes, naps, and photos with a user-friendly app. read more

Our family is so sad to be moving and having to leave Discovery Preschool. From the first email I sent, Mrs. Sally went above and beyond to answer my questions and give me great info. She was very helpful. I had emailed many facilities in our search for a daycare for our son and her response was far beyond anything I received elsewhere. Our son was always very obviously well loved and well taken care of here. He started in the infant room at 8 months, moved to the toddler class from 1-2 years and finished his time in the preschool class. It seemed like every day he was coming home with some new skill or something he had learned. He really thrived at Discovery. Through the app we could see pictures throughout the day, we saved every one because he looks so happy and engaged in the fun activities. The staff we more than very communicative. Management and staff did (in our opinion) a great job dealing with the Covid protocols and restrictions. We felt our son was completely safe and in the best hands, we never worried about him here. Cannot recommend Discovery enough to anyone looking for a daycare/preschool for their littles. Hands down the best- we would not be leaving here if we weren't moving. read more

I can't say enough great things about this place- I was originally going to take my 11 month old to a chain daycare but it seemed to lack any type of true care for the children and the teachers seemed very disengaged. I thought this must be what all day cares are like until I found discovery! Sally immediately made mention of how their goal is to love and care for all the children like their own and I was sold! And that's what I've witnessed since he started- they all hold, hug and love him. When he got sick they held him until I got there and then even checked in with me asking how he was doing until he returned. It's so reassuring knowing that while I'm at work he's being well taken care of. And then the app is icing on the cake- I can see in real time when he's napping, eating, etc. I highly recommend this daycare. read more

Our baby started here at 6 weeks old and is now 2 years old, from a tiny infant all the way to a wild toddler. He still LEAPS out of my arms when we arrive each morning, so excited to go to school. He loves to open the door himself and greets his teachers with hugs and kisses. I feel like there is no way to fake that type of connection. His teachers genuinely care about him and he loves them for it. The staff are all sweet and patient and we've always felt at ease. I especially love all the activities they do, such as art projects, and I love that they explore exotic fruits and have fun with different foods. I also love the app they have so I can see what they are doing and get pictures and updates throughout the day. And of course he learns something new every day. I can't say enough great things about Sally and her employees. Starting my daughter at daycare was the hardest thing I had to do in the past 6 months, but Sally made it easy. First i want to mention that she was a complete LIFE SAVER. I toured Discovery Preschool when I was still pregnant and had a crazy illusion that I was going to get onto the base daycare. At the last minute (literally a week before), we were added to Sally's waitlist. The next day I got a call saying a spot opened up! We obviously went with Sally's daycare because of timing, but it couldn't have worked out better. Maddie is always happy when we drop her off, and she is happy and smiling when I pick her up. I can tell that she really enjoys the ladies who work there. One thing this daycare does that I ABSOLUTELY love is realtime updates to an app. You get to know exactly what your baby is doing (eating, pooping through yet another outfit, sleeping, etc). Not a lot of daycares offer this and it's so convenient, because I just continue to use the app when I am home. I was having difficulty with the NACCRA fee assistance, and Sally helped me every step of the way. She answered any question I had nearly immediately and was super easy to communicate with. I am writing this review for two reasons- 1) Sally and her daycare are absolutely amazing. She is super responsive and really cares about the kids that go there. 2) It saddens my heart that we have to leave. We are moving down to San Diego so I can be closer to work, and commuting to bring Maddie to Oceanside everyday just isn't feasible :( If you are looking for a great, safe place for your infant/toddler to thrive- look no further. Okay so this review is LONG over due. If you live in this area and want an OUTSTANDING daycare and preschool...just stop your search right now and call DISCOVERY PRESCHOOL! My two kids have been going since October 2017 and they LOVE it. Last week my 3 yo came home and pointed at some random object and said, "hey momma...that's a rhombus! It's a shape like a diamond." I'll be that parent...I'll say it....I don't teach that stuff to my kid...we stick to simple things like circle and square. My daughter is almost 2 and is literally the most cheerful baby...on a regular basis she will mention many of her teachers. These employees/caregivers/teachers/temporarymoms deserve a standing ovation. They go above and beyond for all the kids and truly put forth an effort because they CARE. Had a meeting with Sally the director of the business and toured her facility. Facility is okay, needs to improve on cleanliness and structure around. Seems like the education is good but I wouldn't know. Sally, the director, told me I had until Monday to make my choice on coming to her facility. Come monday, I shoot my happy email to her and let her know we are coming aboard. Well she replys and tells me she gave away our spot because she didn't want to create pressure on signing up. Instead she created pressure on making us find another daycare. Thanks for that Sally. The upside is that her poor communication, lack of business professionalism could have translated to my childs care and now I'll never know. read more

This review is long overdue. My son is almost 23 months old, he has been in the toddler class since he was 18 months old. Before deciding to send my son to Discovery Preschool I probably toured 12-15 different centers/schools, and called 20 different ones, from in home Childcare to small school to big chains. It was hard to find a place that takes infants/toddlers that don't cost a ton, or that actually offer infant/toddler (up to age 2) care. When I first called Discovery Preschool, the infant/toddler section wasn't open yet but once it was opening Sally, the director called me and offered to give me a tour. At first I said no thank you, because it was a little above our budget but since I couldn't find anything I liked in our price range, I upped our budget and decided to take a tour and signed up that day! You cannot put a price o quality Childcare. I worked in childcare for 10 years so my expectations are very high. What I liked about this school is that the teachers were NOT allowed to have their cell phones on them while they are working. I know this might seem like a trivial thing but if a teacher has their cell phone on them they can get distracted or use their cell phone as a camera, and my question was why does a teacher need to take photos with their cell phone? What happens if that teacher quits? They do not need to have pictures of my child on their phone. All the teachers at Discovery Preschool seem to know my sons name and tell him Hi in the morning and good-bye in the afternoon. They are all so attentive and seem to truly love what they do. I loved that my son gets to paint, color and use other manipulatives for learning. When he started his language was a little behind but he has picked up so many words and is learning so much, I am amazed at how fast he is learning things. He seems to enjoy going to Discovery Preschool, he did cry the first week or so but that I believe was just because it was a new place, now when we arrive he will reach for his teachers and want them to pick him up. I can see he is comfortable with them, and that means a lot. read more

My daughter is coming close to finishing her first year in the Pre-K class, and we have nothing but great things to say about Discovery Preschool! Even after being there all day, I usually have to convince her to leave because she loves it so much. Discovery has really mastered the balance of work and play for preschoolers. I feel like my daughter has learned so much that she will be well ahead of most kids entering kindergarten. But despite the great education, they still have tons of play time to learn social skills and just be kids, and I love that they have music and art time as well. They plan special events for the kids every month as well, whether it's holiday parties or inviting special guests from the community. We also couldn't have asked for better teachers and assistants at the school. It is obvious that they genuinely care about the kids, and they are still so cheerful even at the end of the day! Miss Sally, the director, is also so easy to talk to and very responsive to messages. The ratio of children to adults is perfect as well. I have never felt like there were too many kids in my daughter's class for her to get the attention she needs. The school is also very reasonably priced for the area, and conveniently located off the 5. My daughter's only complaint is that they have nap time, but you can't win them all. ;) This is a gem of a preschool! read more

My son went to preschool here and it was the best choice. He is in kindergarten now and still talks about "my school." Discovery preschool set my son up with all the fundamentals for kindergarten. He knows all his shapes, can count to almost 200, loves reading and writing and a big part of that is thanks to Discovery. Ms. Sally and her staff all care very much about their students and their families. I felt that was my son was safe and in loving and caring hands during the day. I only wish they were in a different location, I never felt that my son was in any sort of danger, but I felt a little uneasy that everyone in the shopping center could look in at them. read more

My son is 3 1/2 and still attending Discovery. We still love it here!!! My son loves his teachers and the director, I think more than he loves me (haha). The parents are very kind, and most of them know and speak to my son. Oh, and his father and I co-parent and for Christmas they make 2 gifts, one for me and one for his dad. There are a lot of options for childcare in Oceanside, but Discovery Preschool is THE BEST!! Sally and her hand-picked staff are wonderful with the kids. They truly love each child that enters their doors and treat them like they are their own. Our youngest had some struggles adjusting to being out of the home when she first started with Discovery, but Sally was amazing! She made sure that our little one acclimated slowly and at her own pace. Now my 4 year old begs to go to school. This is the worst school I have seen before. The staffs in the school don't take care of and educate my kid. They make money as a purpose. My son learned nothing from the school since two months ago. The little boy would be required to drop out because he bit someone else? That's so ridiculous. I don't know what they do every day and what the responsibility is. I absolutely loved my daughters time at Discovery PreSchool. The teachers are awesome, Miss. Sally and Miss. Erin are the best. The year my daughter spent there was such a great experience from the Halloween party where past and present students are welcome to the summer field trips leading up to the graduation to Kindergarten. My daughter learned so much she is one of the top students in her kindergarten class. It was so wonderful when we stopped in to say about a month ago, to see my daughter telling Miss. Sally all about her new school and to see the love Miss. Sally has for my daughter brought tears to my eyes. I love the support and care that I received when my daughter went there, Miss. I couldn't be happier with this school. My son started here late last year. After having not been in any kind of child care outside of the home for several months, he had a little trouble adjusting. The director here, Sally, was extremely helpful and supportive and she, along with her staff, helped him adjust. He LOVES this school and asks me why he can't go on Saturdays. The teachers are all very warm, friendly and professional. Discovery Preschool has provided Quality care and is a great learning environment for the little ones. When I searched this place I first had second thoughts about the area- But DO NOT let the area deceive you I've searched other preschools and by far the atmosphere you get when you first walk in the door actually makes your child WANT to go to school. My 1 year old son has been going here for two months and my family and I are extremely happy. They are first and foremost so loving to my child and extremely accountable to me with the baby's needs and incidents. The real time updates on the child are very helpful. Their care is so great -- my child struggled with diaper rash for months but the incidents reduced to almost zero since coming here. He has learned to high five, put objects in a basket, and numerous other play skills. At home looking at the child playing with a toy differently, we tell each other "he must have learned it from daycare" because we didn't teach him. The direct deposit system, long hours for me to work a full day and overtime, affordable cost, and proximity to the freeway are all so great. I found this place because it is near my work and next year I need to send him somewhere else because my office is moving. I am already so bummed about it. I have been a stay at home since my son was born, now at almost 3 I was ready to return to work. I started looking at childcare back in February. I toured many many locations. I wanted to feel secure about my son being away from me. Miss Erin was so helpful and kind when I called into schedule a tour, even tho she was booked on tours that day she made time for me, which was wonderful since it was my only day off that week. Once entering I knew right away it was the center for my son. Center is well kept, children were happy, teachers were friendly!! Miss Sally has been more then helpful with our transition. I originally had my daughter in Discovery Preschool when she was 2 back in 2009-2010. We moved and unfortunately had to take her out. Now that we are back, I put her back for the summer (shes 6 now) and my son, who is 2 now, also started! I highly recommend this school/daycare!!!! Ive never had any problems or concerns with the school and/or teachers. When we moved, my daughter would always say how much she wanted to go back, even though she cried everyday i dropped her off, but she loved the school.
