I've had people ask me what I thought about Highland and I've told them, so it seemed fitting to make it public to warn people. Now you are making things up. No profanity was used. How did you even come up with that? You weren't there. Did she make that up or did you? And what disrespect are you talking about? Me being mad? Yes, I was mad, but there was no disrespect. Raising my voice a little out of frustration that I had just told the teacher about my kid's reflux, then less than an hour later I had to pick her up for what you even confirmed was spit up? I missed my deadline and had to rearrange my whole week because of that. You told me I could bring my kid back that same day once you confirmed that the teacher didn't even know what spit up is (yet she is watching 10+ kids all day long). But I refused because I had been called so many times to pick up my child in the past. My kid has since been at another preschool and I haven't been called a single time to pick her up. If anything, your school and the teacher had a clear disrespect of my time and my job on many occasions when you would call me and require me to pick up my kid for silly reasons. Can any other reviewers confirm that this has happened to them as well? I am sure there are some that would say so themselves. I totally understand what I committed to when registering. I didn't know that my kid would be sent home again, and after so many times, I just had enough. I asked for a refund of the deposit, but you refused despite the mistake on your staff's part. That's ok. I figured since that is the case, then an honest review is fair. read more

We are so happy with our Highland experience. I was very anxious about sending my daughter to preschool for the first time, and we toured several facilities to see what was out there and what would be the best fit for us. As soon as we toured Highland, I knew we had found our place. The teachers are so incredibly kind and nurturing, and the Reggio Emilia play-based philosophy they follow is so wonderful. We love how much outdoor time our daughter gets, and she loves telling us about everything she's learning. In addition to the classrooms, there is a garden, mud kitchen, art atelier, and critters for the kids to play with / learn about including Tortilla the tortoise and Larry the chinchilla. Our daughter has been there for nearly a year now and we just couldn't be more pleased. I've known Cassie for quite some time and I've always known that her Home room is the only facility I'll be comfortable to leave my kid at. The place is amazing! My son, who is 6, loved it so much that he talked about this place only for two hours! Non-stop. And I get him, I mean it's like kidventures met petco: there are 5 different animals, including a python and a chinchilla! I'd stay there myself, frankly speaking, it's like a mini petting zoo. After having a horrible experience with our first daycare, my fiancé became a stay-at-home-dad. And it's worked well for us. But every stay-at-home parent needs and deserves a break occasionally. Definitely not for everyone. Our son came home with cuts and scratches all over his body from his feet, arm and stomach. He was so filthy we had to wipe him down at the facility and change his clothes. In addition we had to throw away his clothes he worn to the school. Not to mention his pull up was saturated with urine and hadn't been changed in the five hours he was there. The same number of pull ups I put in his bag were still in his backpack when we returned. The response from the school when I questioned them about the way our son was returned to us was: "Children are encouraged to explore here. Some of the kiddos are more prone to exploration with their whole bodies, while others are more particular -- it's really unique to the individual child. It's totally understandable that the approach may not be a fit for every family." Wow... Having a child filthy and allowing them to hurt themselves is Not an approach it is called neglect. This definitely was not the expectation my husband and myself expected when we initially toured the school. read more

My son currently attends for the pre-K program they have and he absolutely loves it! He's gone twice now and can not wait to go back. This is his first time attending and as a mother that first day is hard. But they were so awesome with him and getting him situated and even indirectly reassuring me he'd be fine was even more calming to my nerves. Today was my 2 year old son's first time at Homeroom and while it wasn't the easiest day for him since it was his first experience in a child care center I felt at ease. I work from home, but occasionally have to go to our main office for manager meetings and each time those meetings pop up, we have such a struggle finding someone we can trust to watch our 2 little boys who aren't in school yet. I give full credit to my husband for finding Homeroom. After reading all these great reviews and visiting their website I was excited to get my little boys in here. I called right after doing a little research, registered through their simple process online, and then went to visit them with my boys, and picked up a small packet of paperwork to bring back with me, when I officially drop them off for the first time. This experience was such a breeze, so simple, and extremely relieving! I spoke to Cassie for a few minutes about their set up, as my boys explored their facility and she is GREAT! There was also another staff member already taking care of the few children that were there, and I just love the set up of it all! It's clean, and super cute. It's super kid friendly, they have a frog and a chinchilla which I love, because my little one loves animals. At the end of our little visit, my son got mad because he didn't want to leave. LOL. I look forward to the report that my boys will give me after dropping them off for their first time. The great thing about this place is that they give you an upfront HOURLY rate! I have NEVER been given this amazing option! I have been thru babysitters that had my kids the least bit active, and I have been thru the lengthy search of attempting to get my boys in a daycare that wasn't equivalent to the mortgage of a home. I'd give this place a million stars if I could! I have a 3 year old and 6 year old and found out about Homeroom through my local moms group. I live in Carmel Valley, but drive completely out of my way to bring my kids there whenever I need a break. They absolutely love it! They ask about going all the time and look forward to seeing both Miss Cassie and the other caregivers. I find the prices rather reasonable and they do offer a military discount. I can just make a quick reservation through a text message and drop them off and go do shopping across the street or go get my nails done and feel rejuvenated. They have a great set-up with personalIzed cubbies and tanks holding various reptiles that the kids can look at. There's plenty to do and every time I pick my kids up, they are upset and don't want to leave. It's truly is a parent's dream. I am a stay at home mom of three kids. I knew when my son turned three it was time to enroll him in preschool part time to get extra socialization with other kids, prepare for school and also give me a much needed break. As a former preschool teacher, there were a lot of things I was looking for in a preschool and Homeroom matched all of those criteria! And although it is actually an hourly childcare facility, I love that they offer a preschool program, which is mainly what we use it for. Homeroom's prices and overall concept is really what sold us! With our interest in just two half days per week, we didn't want to be locked into any registration or "spot". We vacation from time to time and as all kids do, sometimes he gets sick. For as little time as we have him in preschool each week, we didn't want to be paying for something we weren't using in the event he was absent. I also love that we aren't locked into certain days or times. Although we like to stay consistent with the days he goes to preschool, occasionally I have to switch days or have him stay passed his usual pick up time and I love the flexibility of being able to do that. Being a one income household, affordability was extremely important to us (without having to compromise in other areas). I highly recommend the packages they offer. It helps get the cost down even more. Not only that, but they offer a very generous sibling discount. We look forward to enrolling our daughter when she turns two. Eventually, we plan to have all three of our kids attend Homeroom, whether it is for the preschool program or hourly childcare. My son loves Miss Cassie and all of his friends at Homeroom. He looks forward to going to school and sometimes does not want to leave when it is time to go home. I love the weekly curriculum and activities that are planned for the preschool program including circle time and art. My son has learned so many new things since starting at Homeroom about one year ago. He comes home singing new songs, tracing letters and becoming more creative. Safety is also extremely important to us. Homeroom has a secure front entrance with a door bell and they will screen the person picking up when needed. My husband has been asked to show his ID several times and we really appreciate that they check to make sure we are authorized to pick up our son. The facility is always very clean, neat and organized. For as often as germs are passed around in this type of environment, they are very on top of hand washing and overall cleanliness. Although my son gets sick from time to time, I have seen a lot worse as a former preschool teacher. I cannot say enough great things about Homeroom. Our family plans to use Homeroom for preschool and childcare for years to come. Love Homeroom. I go to Orangetheory right next door and Homeroom is a God send. My husband is in the military and deploys often and sometimes you really just need an hour or so to yourself, but it's usually more hustle to coordinate a sitter than it's even worth. Homeroom is as good as it gets! My son is almost two, and he has never been in any kind of daycare. If ever he were to be without us, he would be with very close family members. Now that we moved across the state, we had no choice but to find care while my husband had some things to do. I called Homeroom on a Tuesday evening, and spoke with Cassie. I asked about the program, and she was extremely helpful and happy to assist. She told me all about their safety policies, and assured me my child would be safe. My biggest concern was my child's safety, as it is any parent's. I wondered how Homeroom kept track of all of the children in their care. Being that it is an hourly child care facility, I worried that the teachers present would either 1). Not remember the children in their care 2). Not remember the parents of the children in their care. I asked about the drop-off and pick-up procedures, and Cassie assured me that each child can only leave after the adult's ID has been checked. This was comforting, for a paranoid mom like me! My husband and I decided to visit the facility, and I am so glad we did. I was impressed by what I saw. First, the door is locked. You have to ring the bell to get in. Once you're in, you see how the place is perfectly arranged for children. There is an open space, areas for activities, and a table in the back for snacks/meals. There's even an indoor sandbox! You can see the whole entire facility from every corner and space inside. Having a 2 year old who likes to wander, this is VERY important to us. Today, my husband dropped off our son, and he was HAPPY. My son, the child who doesn't even like to wave HI to people, was happy and comfortable. I was in SHOCK. My husband told me that he waved bye, gave him a kiss, and then smoothly transitioned to Miss Jem (?). I was so surprised that I decided to text Cassie. She told me my son was doing great, and was playing with the other children. She even sent me a photo of him! I was so happy to hear and see my son do well, because I was SO nervous he was going to throw a tantrum or freak out. Seeing his comfort level in such a new place gave me the confidence I needed to believe in this place. We've done a few days with Homeroom, when other child care centers weren't working for our family. The flexibility, availability, and pricing are amazing. We just text the day or two before we are going to bring the kids in, and they have always had space available. We were in need of a last minute sitter for our twins and had heard great things about Homeroom. We called on Sunday to check availability for the next morning. The woman who answered the phone (Cassie, I believe) was very friendly and helpful and let me know about the very simple online registration process and that our 2 year olds would be part of the Pre-k program the next day as well as what items to bring. My daughter is very much a daddy's girl and was upset when he dropped them off, but my son took to the play area right away. About 45 minutes later we received an update via text letting us know that our daughter had calmed and that they were both happily playing. At pickup, we received a "report" about all of the activities they participated in and "why" or the educational purposes it served as well as some pictures and also a report on bottles, snacks and wet/dry diaper checks.This was the first time we've used a service like this and absolutely loved getting the updates! The prices are very fair for the service. We will definitely use again when we need backup care, date night, etc.! read more
