Waiting for the train in a pretty forest area!
    Diana B.

Visit Date: June 9, 2019 Hubby and I THOUGHT we had a birthday party to go to here. Turns out mommy is a walking disaster who missed the e-mail message about the party being rescheduled to a different date. When we got up to the train area we were confused because of course we saw no birthday party, when we asked at the ticket booth the party coordinator was there and said there was no party that day and the party was the next week or the week before. She was very sweet and gave us the train tickets free of charge and told us to have fun riding the train even though the party date mishap was our mistake and she definitely didn't have to do that. The view while you wait to get on the train is incredible. I love nature, and I love being in the woods when I can or being on a beach. The trains are really tiny and they have a weight limit of 250 lbs for riders. When we went to get on the train the assistant engineer thought I was pregnant and I had to explain to her about my stomach condition, I can't really get mad at her though I get that question at least once per day and can only hope anyone reading this review might learn to shut up and NOT ask a woman if she's pregnant. The train ride was nice, the view from the tracks is beautiful, it's so peaceful riding through the forests and the trees. I thought it was really interesting that such a tiny train can pull a few people around like that. Hubby says steam is pretty powerful, he wraps his head around science much better than I do so I'll take his word for it. I loved it here, glad we ACCIDENTALLY came and will look forward to being there for the REAL party date lol

This was fun! Came here with our boy one Sunday and it was cute. Can't believe I never knew about this place for the longest time.

To be clear the only reason I am giving this review 2 stars is because the employee that was…read morepresent at the time of our party did everything within her power to help our party go smoothly. Today I had my son's first birthday party at this soft play. I was really looking forward to it because of the fantastic reviews I read. When we showed up, the singular employee present told us that the photographer we opted for as an add on had called out sick and wouldn't be there. I mentioned that the owner didn't let me know about this- she said she was told to let me know when I got there. I had absolutely no time to make plans for an alternative to capturing photos and had to rely on guests and the single employee running the party. The tables and high chair all needed to be wiped down, and half of the decorations I dropped off ahead of time were not up. I'll say that's probably due to there not being adequate staffing. My issue here is with how the owner is running this business. If I had employees call out sick last minute I certainly wouldn't leave one employee (with 2 days experience by the by) floundering, trying to manage a party of 30 adults and 10 kids by themselves. I also certainly wouldn't leave it to that employee to break bad news to a customer. So unprofessional. I also feel that the food was not charged accurately- the catering menu for Gino's shows the price of a full tray of caesar salad for $60 + $27 x 3 for 3 additional pizzas ($81) + 3 foot italian hero at $17/foot ($51) = $192 + $17.04 tax + $10 tip (I saw this handed to the delivery driver) = $219.04. The line item for the food on the invoice was $277. $57 extra for what? Due to there only being one employee we ended up needing an additional half hour of party time to have birthday cake, which was provided free of charge and I do appreciate that. The kids had a nice time and the catering food was good. But overall, I paid a premium expecting to have to do no work and felt my mother and I did about half the work anyway.

We get early access before the crowds, before the noise, before the overwhelm... and that alone makes the whole experience doable for our family. Less lines, less sensory overload, and more time to just enjoy being together. A huge thank you to @nassausuffolkasa for not only providing our tickets and early entry, but also treating families to an amazing barbecue. That kindness goes a long way for days like this. My oldest is autistic and has loved the water since he was a baby, so this day is always one he looks forward to all year. Watching him feel free, happy, and regulated in a space like this is something I'll never take for granted. We explored new areas this time (the kids are getting so big), including the Stingray Bay section, which was such a fun new addition, they just opened that area last year! There's truly something for all ages, from splash pads for little ones to bigger slides for the older kids. If you're in New York or visiting, this is absolutely a summer must do. And if you're looking for organizations to support, NSASA is one that truly shows up for families like ours, creating inclusive events, early/late access days, fundraisers, and opportunities that make experiences like this possible. Grateful doesn't even cover it

And here we are, at Splish Splash, a place I took a road trip too when I lived in Queens. Then it seemed like it was across many states. It's funny how you perceive things as a kid versus as a grown up. Now this place is no more than 30min from my parents, but I still haven't been here since becoming an adult and I'm glad we did. The place has changed so much. Better layout. More family friendly. We rented one of the luxury cabanas for the entire day. It cost $1200 and allows 32 people, but holds 40. You have to buy additional wristbands at $20 a wristband. You also still need to buy tickets. The sales office was wonderful to work with and answered all my questions and we got the group rate for our day at the park. As much fun as we had, and as great as the space was, which we plan on doing again, there needs to be more support in the Cabana areas. At one point security asked one of my guest if they should be there, and when they showed them their wristband they continued to follow up with the cabana staff, meanwhile, people kept coming into our cabana trying to use the area for themselves. Where was security then? The food and drink service also lacked. We were instructed to order off the QR code which were on signs throughout the cabana, but half of them didn't work. We had to wait over an hour and a half for our food and some people didn't get their drinks. Once I expressed how long we waited, and how we felt overlooked the staff gave us a few additional canned margaritas. By this time it was late afternoon. Most of had to leave because the kids were exhausted. Moral of the story: this place has had a major glow up, I'm hoping that the staff and service follow suit as they continue to grow. This is a piece of nostalgia on Long Island and I would hate to see it go away anytime soon.

We usually go right when they open at noon on the weekends to avoid the crowd and stay for about 2 hours or so. This place can get really crowded especially at night. My kids go on all the rides they wanna go on with tickets (4 to 6 tickets per ride), play games ($5-$10 per game) and get food (both cash only). Besides the hot foods, funnel cake, cotton candy and candy apples/ caramel apples is a must! Until next year...

We did go the day after there was a malfunction with one of the larger rides. That part of the park was closed. But it didn't stop us from enjoying the rest of it. Maybe this was why the lines for the rides weren't that bad. We were able to get right on most all of them and the girls were even able to do some rides multiple times. Lunchtime was in their little restaurant where we had pizza and I bought additional mozzarella sticks, which are actually very delicious. Funny enough, the highlight of the whole park was our souvenir cup, which you could go around refilling for the whole 2026 season. This included the Slurpees that are self-serve at two spots in the park. On a hot day, these Slurpees were really really good and giving us life. Most of the parents got them, but we use them again this season? Probably not, but it kinda added to the fun, and we all had a really great time.

I calmly explained to the girls working the window that if Adventureland advertises "free fathers for Father's Day", they probably ought not to exclude those of season ticket holders. The optic is that " we don't value the season ticket holders". This isn't the first time this year either. A recent outing for our daughter's grammar school would not admit season ticket holders to the event. I've been around long enough to remember when adults didn't automatically have to pay to enter the park. Seems that after Covid, Adventureland has taken a new philosophy to soak every dime they can from the public including at the expense of season ticket holders. Please change this.
