I was driven there by a dear friend from Eagle Mtn, UT at the time. I was there for 74 days. Through my journey, I was pushed mentally, sometimes to my breaking point but I knew the staff and my other peers would catch me. We were an adhesive mix of people whom I still am in contact with to this day. When I arrived I was dissociating all the time, I was hopeless and suicidal. But day after day, week after week, I slowly got better. Stan had some of the most unorthodox methods but they worked. But you have to be willing to put in the effort. If you weren't, you were wasting your and the staffs time. I never left a Saturday Grief and Loss class without being mentally drained. And the Equine therapy was out of this world. It made me go thru emotions I didn't know I had, I almost puked during several of the evolutions, but I repeated them as many times as needed till I was able to "let it go". What does that mean, well it looks different each week and differently each time you might be processing something. Alex, humble and so kind, is the owner, Care Moreland was the Executive Director and together they SAVED my life. I was asked to stay for free. I was the first woman to this location. Therapeutic strategies were used involving each client's perspective triggers related to the job reported by their employer. One Midwest officer from Illinois scared the crap out of me as his triggers were activated. He was provided employment thereafter his stay. With mental emergency assistance response time over 45 minutes away due to their remote location I slept with one eye open. Triggers that are purposely sought for the rationale of treatment are extremely dangerous and their outcomes very unpredictable. This was not the proper setting. Military and police officers should not be exploited for the sake of thwarting off a future tragic event. It's a great way to cause one though! After much introspection I felt an individual responsibility to report this. I'm sorry Stan. It's the right thing to do. Dr Jackson it's not okay and Care with Alex you hold equal responsibility. Barb, the program director, genuinely cares about everyone there. She actually treated me like a human being, not a client or a dollar sign like everywhere else I have been. In a month and a half my therapist and I accomplished more work on my trauma than I have with anyone else in 20 years. The techs there are amazing too, they'll do anything in their power to help out. Beyond the staff, the groups are very helpful. The diversity is amazing. Unlike other places they do not just have repetitive process groups all day. My favorite group was meditation with Cass. I really enjoyed psychotherapy as well. Breath works was a group I had to get used to, but was by far one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Not to mention they offer chiropractor visits and focus a lot on helping us get drivers license, social security cards, resume building, and a lot of other skills to help prepare us for life. Vocational rehab and the center for living and learning come weekly to assist with job training and will even pay for school, books, or certificate programs such as HVAC, barber school, etc. At the end of the day, VRC will do everything possible to help their clients transition from sober living into normal life. Not to mention the sober livings they house us in are absolutely beautiful. They have Co Ed houses, and also male specific houses. Whatever you're going through, barb and the rest of the staff will do everything in their power to find a solution. Hands down the best 12 step based IOP / sober living southern California. Will definitely recommend this program to anyone who wants to stop using or drinking and cannot do it by themselves.

Every staff member was truly wonderful. They were kind, knowledgeable and helped us gain tools in our own recovery. As everyone who has an addicted family member knows, it is a family disease and we all need to heal . The change in my son was the most astounding. For the first time in a really long time my husband and i have hope that he can recover. We owe that hope to the staff and other clients at Cycles of Change. Seeing and working with a staff that have all been there and turned their life around has been a true inspiration to us all. I have attended the Family workshop at Design For Change recovery program. The benefit of the…read moreprogram to family members of addicts is immeasurable. The professionals that host this workshop have decades of experience with addiction. They understand the science of addiction and explain it in an understandable way to the participants at the workshop. They also talk about feelings and emotions regarding the addict and ourselves. When people first enter the workshop, they are usually overwhelmed, sad and angry about the addiction that their family member is dealing with. It doesn't take long before they start to feel empowered and like they have an idea of how to deal with the addiction. Also, there is an overwhelming feeling of support from the staff and the other families at the workshop. We all become very close and exchange phone numbers and contact information so that we can follow up with support after we leave. We all understand what the other family members are going through because we are dealing with the same things. The workshop is a safe place to talk about how we are feeling about our addicts and what experiences we have had. We talk about the fear, the anger, the sadness, and the feeling of being powerless over the addiction. We leave the workshop with the tools to move forward with our lives and coping skills to deal with the addiction. The workshop is a very powerful place to find information, support, understanding and tools. I wish every recovery program would offer the families a workshop like this. Addiction is a family problem. We all need these tools to help our addicted lives ones to recover, which is our common goal. But we also need to learn how to still live our lives while loving an addicted person. I feel so lucky to have found this program and will continue to attend the workshops as I deal with my addicted loved one.

They make you feel comfortable and they are very friendly. Sophie worked with me mostly and she was very knowledgeable and she listened well. Gabby and her staff work very hard to help their clients heal up. I looked forward to seeing them twice a week during my time there. Not the best experience, I was targeted by certain staff members and treated poorly at times. while…read moresome staff members were exceptionally helpful and supportive(Danielle, nick, Laura, Johanna, and Chantelle as well as the chef). The overall company was trying to get the most money out of my insurance as possible. I started off in the sober living facility and during Christmas time, I had covid over winter and had to take NyQuil and that was the first excuse for forcing me back into a rehab program that was not needed. My reason for being in the program in the first place was that I had 18 back to back surgeries over the past 4 years and was on opioids for a long period of time so this was a way to detox in a safe environment. There was no psychological addiction, just physical dependence to opioids. They lied about multiple addictions to medication(amphetamine addiction) that I was prescribed since childhood and used it to get more money through insurance. They also lied about an alcohol addiction, when I am medically intolerant to alcohol. When I got back to the sober living after this time I was talked about poorly among staff members and called "attention seeking" for asking for a few days off in order to visit 2 dying family members. Eventually someone in the group had consumed alcohol and told the staff which upset another client due to the unfairness and favoritism. This upset client gave me alcohol without my knowledge or consent and afterwards told the staff that I was drunk. This other client had been upset and doing things like this for 2 weeks prior to this incident. I believe he did this in order to prove a point that they will send people they dislike or with good insurance back to rehab in order to get more money. This client later confessed to me he had put alcohol in my drink without my consent and I had a reaction to the alcohol and was placed back into the rehab facility. I was put on addictive barbiturates and unnecessary medications for 2 days before my insurance denied coverage due to fraudulent services. The alcohol level was so low that there was no logical reason I needed to be there. I was then abandoned as a patient had had to find a new place to live in 2 hours or I was out on the street. Remember it's just a business. They don't actually care about you. They left another 2 of my friends on their own where one eventually fell into a coma following her abandonment. Something else they did was contact my pharmacy and told them never to fill any of my prescriptions ever from any doctor. I was no longer under their care at all. I'm a disabled person and this made it very difficult to obtain medication that I needed. This is a HIPPA violation for sure.
