My mother in law was moved in here from Ridgecrest General Hospital in January '24 (she was 93…read morethen...and she's now 94!) She was long term. We have no complaints about how she was treated. They worked to keep her in a bed by a window. They sent her to the hospital when they felt she needed it. (it's just down the street! She had a TVAR and a pacemaker put in which helped her so much with breathing) The PT/OT staff were able to. nudge her to do more than she thought she could. We paid to continue after Medical ended and glad we did. She was kept clean and well cared for. Recently she was diagnosed with Covid and isolated. She got depressed and stopped eating and taking her meds. My husband called every day and worked with the staff, and they helped him Face Time her to cheer her up. It's a busy facility being near the hospital and getting a lot of short term care clients. We hesitated moving her up near us because she was getting such good care and thriving. But once she started getting depressed, we knew we needed to move her up here (see Sunny View Care Center). On the day she was transported, staff came in to say goodbye to her. They really cared about my mother in law and her health and happiness. Hubby & I looked at a lot of care centers (skilled nursing facilities) up here in Silicon Valley. We saw quite a variety. One important thing is how well do they keep the facility. AVCC is clean and well maintained. Nitpicks - There were only restrooms in the front lobby area...and staff uses them as well. Once a visitor or resident was using one of them as her private phone booth which was frustrating. Mother in law liked the food at first but then she thought it was so much better than what she was getting in Ridgecrest. Eventually, she started grumbling that it was dog food. (She's feisty) All the food we saw her get was well made. But it's hospital food. There weren't any choices that I know of. One of her hearing aids disappeared. No one knows where or why, but the staff took ownership and are working with my husband to pay the replacement cost. Parking was reasonable that we found along the sides. Everyone we interacted with was polite and kind (just way overworked)

Recently it has changed hands and is now called Bellamar . I have watched the easy transition and I am very happy to see the same loving and efficient care to all the residents. He is friendly, caring and actually wants you happy and healthy. I never feel rushed and he is a great listener. In 2009 I obtained APL Leukemia. I was transferred to Kaiser Sunset and was assigned to Dr Roberto Rodriguez. I couldn't have gotten a better oncologist!! I actually got a second opinion from outside Kaiser. And that doctor who I saw looked puzzled and asked why I was seeing her. I simply said, well it's a terrible illness and would just like a second opinion to make sure I am getting the best care possible. She smiled and told me that she has already dug through all my treatment notes and assured me that I was getting the best care possible. Then added, the reason why I was confused was because Dr Rodriguez was my teacher oncologist!! And she also added that he is "the go to doctor for all leukemia cancer questions. Not just California but in the entire United States. There is nobody better than he!" Wow! That made me feel a lot better!! Lancaster Community Hospital (closed now-it's now Palmdale Regional) doctors told me that I "had only a 30-40% chance of surviving. That's before I was transferred to Kaiser Sunset and was seen and hospitalized by Dr Rodriguez. When I told him what the other doctor said from Lancaster Community, he was shocked and disappointed that these doctors told me that. Dr Rodriguez said, "Kevin, I can assure you that you will be walking out of this hospital on your own free well and you will be either completely in remission or on your way there!" And he was correct! I was hospitalized for three months and got an infection. This caused me to return back and had to stay for another two months. But I have been in remission since 2010. Just like he said, I walked out in remission!! I say all this to tell you that the front line of doctor's can be difficult to find one that works well with you. But keep trying. But the second line which I refer to them as are the specialists and I have found that each one is really good at what they specialize in. I have had PPO's as well as HMO's... and I wouldn't want to have any other medical insurance. They can be pushy about the flu shot and other vaccines. But they have even gotten better at the high pressure with that now. So I would recommend Kaiser to someone that was looking for a health care provider.

I was very happy with my treatment plan and was in constant touch with communication to help me heal. Josh or Joshua was tremendously helpful, patient and kind and challenged me steadily to improve and do a little more exercise than the time before. HE was a key component in my recovery and made me feel quite comfortable at home exercising because of his expertise in guiding my custom exercise program. He didn't push me beyond my limits was professional and always noticed if I could go forward more or reduce some of my steps. I feel confident in recommending Valencia Home Health because of their professionalism, honesty and knowledge of injuries and how to instruct the patients recovery steps. Their help, Dorothy, CeCe and Josh made my plan of recovery successful and easy for me to achieve myself with their assistance.

Out of the multiple home health services I needed, only one would I choose again. Valencia Home Health Care's staff makes me feel like I am their priority patient. My infected buttock wound was embarrassing! Compassion , kindness, wound care knowledge and an awesome female nurse, named Dorothy, help me to overcome my embarrassment and healed my infected wound. I need to have my right knee replaced, not as embarrassing as an infected buttock wound! I know when I go home, the first phone call will be to The Valencia Home Health Care and Dorothy. Sarah Pearman
