My car had been giving me trouble for months, for various reasons, so I was a frequent visitor of a reputable mechanic with lots of auto/customer service awards on their wall. The work was pricey, but I'm a female who knows nothing about cars and just moved to LA with no one to help me navigate carland, so I obliged. I brought my car in, and they couldn't quite pinpoint the problem. They finally reached a conclusion and recommendation they gave me was going to cost me $1000. Horrified and on the verge of a breakdown, I came to yelp to research a second opinion. In enters my lifeline. While they knew the last recommendation was wrong and totally misdiagnosed, they couldn't figure it out what was wrong with it. Some hours go by, and I'm waiting and they ask me if I have any other commitments that day and wouldn't I like to use their car because it's best if I leave mine with them. They totally offered that so I wouldn't be put out, and were so nice about it. So I took their car and went to work. The next day they called to say it was ready. At this point I've misplaced my atm card and have a limited amount of cash and didn't get a chance to get to the bank, and Paul (the owner and my saviour) says, "don't worry, pay us when you can". I was like, "seriously?! What if I never come back?!!". He very simply replied, "we know where you live", and laughed. We both did, and that's when I realized their m.o. wasn't to turn and burn. They are so in tune with the people that come across their shop, and treat them like human beings, not cash cows. They're concerned with treating the problem and making the pain in the ass trip to the mechanic not so painful. How can I claim to have insight into them? Well, because my car story does not end there. I had the problem from hell, they had that car in the shop for over two weeks, and after testing and placing different parts and testing again couldn't get that check light engine to turn off. I picked it up a couple of times, because it seemed to be running fine, and then bam! it would go on again. In the meantime, Michele the Wondrous Woman is in great communication with me. She is so down to earth, so chill and cool, so helpful, making sure that I was alright with my loaner car and even offering her help with my upcoming car registration, since I wouldn't physically have the car ready to pass inspection. After having exhausted all their efforts, they were left with no other recourse than to take it to Honda. It took THEM 3 days to figure it out; it was a super rare issue that very rarely happens to this make. Lucky me!! When I went to pick up my car, Paul said to me, "your car drove me crazy". I bet. After the countless hours they spent on my car, the total tally was still under $500 below what the other reputable mechanic wanted to charge me. They could've charged me up the wazoo, and would've been in their right to. And just to reiterate, what the other guys said needed replacing didn't even need to be replaced. GRRRRRR!!! Oh yeah, did I mention Paul and the boys cleaned my car? And oh yeah, Michele said, without hesitation, "if you have any other problem, come to us right away. Warranty on repairs". Umm...I would've posted my face on the wall with a caption underneath that said, "DO NOT LET HER BACK IN". To end the review, I want to say they've made a customer for life. They truly went above and beyond in customer service. They treated me with respect and went out of their way to make sure I wasn't inconvenienced. You will feel for yourself too, once you go in there, the positive energy. I am beyond thankful for them, I've never before had a business treat me with such respect. read more

I have an older Lexus with high miles and with my current financial situation, spending money on car repairs is only when it is absolutely necessary. Went for oil change (includes inspection and car wash) at 8:30am on a Friday. The phone scheduler had clearly explained that fully synthetic oil is more expensive than semi-synthetic and gave me the prices. When I arrived, the person who checked me in made sure to confirmed this. Upon picking car up (1 hour later! Yay!), they charged me less than quoted because my car is tiny and takes less oil. Yay! I also followed up on a few items told to me at my last oil change (by another mechanic.) Lextech stated that my car did not currently need any of these fixes. Excellent. My final price was $58. I don't consider this cheap (maybe it is for LA??), but I did find them to be very honest and patient, which is worth a lot. read more

I live on the Westside but take my 4runner to Lextech because 1) they do a great job 2) they're fast 3) cheaper than toyota 4) not sheisty. Needed a new radiator, timing belt, water pump, belts, CV axle. They took care of it for what I know was a fraction of the price as the Toyota dealership and even threw in an oil change cause they are good peeps...all done in a day. Michelle is very communicative and I left confident all the work was done and done right. So glad these guys are around. I can go to the mountains and snowboard in confidence knowing my car is ready to rock. Will always return here for service. read more

Took my 6 year old IS250 here a couple times after getting tired of being overcharged by Lexus of Glendale. These guys are quick, know what they are doing, and charge a fraction of what the dealer does. They are very honest about what needs to be done to your car also. This place is AMAZING. My navigation screen randomly stopped working so, naturally, I took it to the dealer as I always do for routine maintenance. Yes, I know, it's more expensive, but in my mind, the convenience of getting a free loaner while they work on my car always seemed to balance out me having to spend more money. No longer will this ever be true. The dealer quoted me $3500 to fix the screen when it's a faulty product/nothing was done on my end to cause it to break. This seemed completely unreasonable to me that I should have to shell out thousand of dollars when Lexus should be recalling this product and fixing it at no cost, so I decided to shop around. I came up with two Lexus certified places: Lextech and Lexology (Redondo Beach). I called both places and got estimates and Lextech's was hundreds of dollars lower ($800 versus $1300). So, even though I live in the South Bay, I decided it would be worth it to trek across town to save a few hundred bucks. Best. Decision. Ever. I dropped my car off on Monday and, because they needed to keep it to test the next system once replaced, they set me up with a rental from Enterprise nearby. They called ahead to have a car ready to go for me and one of the Lextech guys gave me a ride over there. Lextech called me this morning saying my car was ready...so I go to pick it up, my car is washed, the navigation is as good as new...and they even footed the rental car bill! Count me as another happy Lextech convert. I recently took my Lexus Rx 400h into a Lexus dealer garage for routine 65k miles maintenance. As a result of their inspection that dealer--Jim Falk Lexus of Beverly Hills--advised me that the left rear strut was leaking and, because of that, they recommended I replace both rear struts. The price they quoted was, I kid you not, a whopping $1,500! Even though I'm an ignoramus when it comes to auto repairs, I knew that quote was outrageous and so I got a couple more quotes. Lexus of Glendale quoted me $878, and then I called Lextech. Eddie was friendly and personable, and gave me a quote of only $563, but said they would first inspect the car to make sure the strut was truly leaking, and if turned out I didn't need to replace the strut(s) there would only be a $50 charge. I did some more research and then had a follow-up conversation with Lextech's owner Paul. Based on that conversation and all of the good reviews here on Yelp, I made an appointment and had them do the work last Saturday, and they did an expert job. Needless to say, Lextech will be my repair shop of choice for all future work on this car. read more

i know these guys from their former location, and i followed them out here like i follow all the guys i like. i mean... like i follow all the good auto mechanics i like. anyway lextech has been doing maintenance on my prius for i dunno like 3 years, and i would much much rather come to a nice independent shop than a car dealer. (used to go to toyota hollywood.) they are always super pleasant here, quite quick even when i don't have an appointment, and always genuinely striving in providing a top rate experience, even if you are ie just sitting in a garage bay getting an oil change or what not. new location has a waiting room, with tv, coffee, the nice guy offered me a bottle of water too. didn't have an appointment but they did an oil change in about 25 minutes, plus some minor brake stuff. i like these guys. again -- very earnest and honest. this is a car service place you feel like you can trust and that definitely does not treat you like a dummy even if you don't know nothing about car repairs. as long as i have a prius i'll be coming back. read more

As a woman walking into any auto shop is usually a nightmare and a half. Despite being a huge gear-head I'm normally treated like an idiot that's never even popped a hood. These guys were more than respectful and even bantered a bit with me like another guy. I was there for only an oil change and tire rotation, they were super chill about not pushing extra services and were really fast. And she was sooo... helpful, she asked me many question and then she said your dealership should never have put regular oil as only one number thats for synthetic which is mentioned. And gave me other information regarding my kia maintenance contract and how it works (as this is my first car ever) she even suggested me the nearest dealership near my home. My boyfriend asked that I place this review for him since he doesn't have a Yelp account but felt the need to express the excellent service that he received. He was recommended to this shop from by his friend Godwin. He was greeted with a smile and prompt service. Paul assessed the situation and placed his car on a lift right away. He received an oil change, tire rotation, replaced transmission fluid, and replaced four spark plugs on his 2010 Honda Accord. His car was worked on and hand washed within the hour. The staff was informative and very friendly. He raved about how the shop wss well kept with positive vibes. He will definitely bring his car back and I will be bringing my car also. Paul and his crew are awesome. I gave ISE Automotive 5 stars, but I'd give Lextech 6 if I could. Got the brakes fixed on my Honda Civic at both places over the last year or so. The difference? Lextech was a bit cheaper w/ labor. Same day service -- I didn't need a reservation and I got my car back in barely over an hour. They noticed my battery was low and called the Honda dealership to confirm that I can pick up a warranty replacement for free. And they washed my car. read more

Paul and his staff are the epitome of customer service. I have been taking my car to Paul for years and he is the best mechanic. He has given great advise and is always honest about what is wrong with your car and how much it will cost. Any dealership would charge 2 x more than what Lextech charges for the service they provide and it is much more thorough. Paul check 's to make sure everything is in good shape and tell you what to take care of next before he gave your car back to you. I came here after asking neighbors for a recommendation and I decided on Lextech. I made a same day appt. for an oil change and tire rotation. They said it would be done in an hour, but I wasn't in a rush - it's Silverlake, there's so many shops and restaurants to get lost, no worries. I made it back to my car and it was cleaned - yay! I noticed it was thanks to the detailing service next to them. AND as I walked by the Jiffy Lube nearby, I decided to get a price quote. Over $10 more than Lextech for a 2010 Prius. I had my catalytic converter replaced by them a few years ago. I had to have my catalytic converter replaced again. It should have lasted the life of the car. The new mechanic I am seeing said that the catalytic converter in my car was a cheap part, and definitely didn't last long because of it. I also had a battery replaced at Lextech which did not last long, and when my car broke down the AAA guy who replaced my dead battery said it was also a very cheap battery. read more

I have a 2007 IS350 and took it in for a battery replacement. saved about 60 bucks compared to dealership. talked to paul the owner and john was the guy who serviced my car. I have NEVER met a more honest guy than paul. he even pointed out that the noise my engine was making could be taken care of under warranty for free. I didnt even know my warranty was still good. he could have easily taken advantage of me, but he even told me what to say to dealer to make sure they take care of it for free by printing me out the repair bulletin with lexus. I will take my car here in the future. anybody with a lexus and expired warranty would be a fool not to come here. read more

I was looking for a Toyota specialist after my last auto repair experience. I'm so happy I found Lextech. I got my car fixed up before a road trip. My car is a 1990 Toyota Camry, super granny car. The girl is 26 years old! I had to go up to Northern CA and and she was zipping up mountains. I couldn't believe it! I was doing 90 mph by accident because we were flying! Only had great experiences at LEXTECH. The staff is friendly and honest and they provide excellent service. I had a minor fender bender and brought my car there to get it checked.
