I just paid $135 for an oil change on my Tundra! The receipt showed $92.48 for the oil and filter change and $43 for "misc. charges." When I asked about that I was told it was for things such as shop rags. Stay away from this place! It's no wonder their rating is so low! read more

Horrible experience. Went there found a vehicle we loved. We had financing all set and ready to go had everything sighned. But there guy who deals with getting them paid through outside financing didnt send in the paper work correctly apparently didnt know what he was doing. So our loan through our outside financing ended up lapsing. We had to apply for a whole new loan. We didnt end up getting approved for the same amount. Even thought it was there fault our loan lapsed they wouldn't do anything to fix it. They said it was our fault we used outside financing. They said ymwe needed to give the car back. Apply through there financing or pay the difference our out side financing wouldn't approve. It was all about them getting there money and what would benifit them. They don't care about the customer and pleasing there customers. There sales manager was rude and told me I can't blame there guy he has only been working a month. Train your employees. We ended up giving them back the car and working with nollar in Lawrence who were amazing. I placed an online order on 5/13/23 for some auto parts from Lewis Toyota. While completing the checkout process, I used their advertised "FREESHIP" code for free shipping. I read the fine print and nothing in my order met the exceptions or limitations. Luckily, I took a screenshot of the order before submitting it that showed a total of $342.43. When I submitted the order, the price increased to $386.22 on the order confirmation page. Assuming this was an error, I contacted Lewis Toyota and explained what happened. They responded by telling me to cancel the order and submit a new order. I placed a new order today (5/18) from a PC for the exact same products and used the exact same "FREESHIP" code. Again, the order looked perfect ($342.43) before submitting it. When I completed the order, the confirmation page showed a charged total of $425.15. I immediately emailed Lewis Toyota and told them to cancel the second order (totaling $425.15) and explained that I needed help correcting the problem. They emailed back and said my original order (for $386.22) had shipped. They said the change was due to "increased shipping costs" although nothing in the fine print indicates that this is possible. I completed the identical order twice. I have the screenshot and printed webpage from each of these transactions before pushing the "place order" button. Both orders show the correct total beforehand and a different total afterward. This is false advertising and a form of theft. read more

I was in the market for a new Toyota GR86 6 speed M/T. They are, as of right now, hard to find. Either they are bought before they are delivered to dealers, dealers are charging $5-10k markups on them above MSRP, or dealers out of state were unwilling to work with me (I live in Florida). I had called about 40 dealers around the US until I found Lewis Toyota in Kansas. They had a Certified pre-owned GR86 M/T premium model with only 900 miles on their lot at MSRP. I called and spoke to my salesman throughout this process: BJ, and was told the car is still available. I was sent a credit application the same day to reserve the car. BJ, myself and the finance manager at Lewis Toyota were able to go back and fourth to negotiate a monthly payment that was just where I wanted it to be, which included 10 year warranty applicable to any Toyota dealer around me. I was then emailed all the documents that needed to be signed which we're all signed electronically. The dealer then recommended a shipping service to me for the car to be shipped from Kansas to South Florida, and the whole out of state buying process was done in about 1 day. My point is, BJ was a pleasure to work with and made this process as quick, easy and communicative as can be especially being so far from the dealer. It felt as if he was eager to respond, and sent timely, regular updates on the car, for example a photo of the car being prepped before shipment. Furthermore, Dakota in the finance department was able to get me a great monthly payment after a lot of negotiations with many add-ons such as the warranty previously mentioned. Based off of my personal experience, if you are looking to purchase a new or used car local or out of state, Lewis Toyota is a great option. Went in to get an oil pan. Waited a couple days to get the part in. When it finally came in it was bent (it won't seal or hold oil if it is bent). Manager refused to talk to me, and the cashier told me they can't get a new one for 5 days. I went to Oreillys and it was less than half the cost and able to get it in store in only 12 hours. I am new to kansas and was needing help with my Toyota key fob. Went to Lewis Toyota of Topeka. Was met by this very nice salesperson ( Jeff Cruce). He asked me how he could help me. I told him I was having a problem with my key fob not working right. He escorted me to the service department and had the service person help me. He stayed with me until the problem was solved. I didn't even want to leave one star. Had no choice. The service department is horrible. Horribly ran no communication. We dropped off our 4 month old Toyota Tundra for a fuel door issue, waited all day for diagnostic , went back to check on truck and noticed they had popped the front tire driving it off the lift. No one came out to tell me. Waited 4 days to get a new tire put on and they scratched up the wheel. Picked up my truck and 7 days later the new part came in for the fuel door . So I set it up for the fuel door and 15,000 mile service. Which is topping off fluids and tire rotation. Went to pick up my truck, service writer said it was ready to go, got a new sticker on the window for next service reminder and noticed the same scratched up wheel was still in same place, they didn't do a damn thing. Will never go there again and will make sure everyone I know knows about this. read more

My wife and I recently purchased a new 2023 Rav4 from Lewis. Over my life I have purchased many new cars and I must say that this whole experience was the BEST ever. My hat goes off to our wonderful sales person Cindy Cheng, She was very friendly and made the whole deal as stress free as possible. Our trip to the dealership started as just an information gathering trip that suddenly turned into a much different situation as our very reliable Toyota Sienna experienced a mechanical issue on the lot. Cindy kept assuring us that it would all work out. Within the hour we had a deal that we were very happy with and the stress of what could have been a nightmare of a situation was gone. Rip off! Waited over three hours, with an appointment no less, for them to hook up my OBD to get a code. Part cost would be $38, but would have to wait a couple of days for them to order. Replacing the part would cost $400 in labor. Declined their service...especially since they really couldn't tell me what the part was, or show it to me. Still was charged $100 for them to look up the OBD code....that took them all of two minutes. I bought my car here and, though their maintenance service was always on the high side, I used them for years. NO MORE. NO MORE SERVICE. NO MORE NEW CAR PURCHASES. read more

My girlfriend bought a used 2017 Honda Pilot from Lewis Toyota and has only been able to drive it 4 days out of the two months that she's owned it. The torque converter was bad, so that took two weeks to fix...no communication. Now they're saying that the engine needs to be replaced, only after I called them after having it three weeks...again, zero communication. Also, she's now getting swapped out on the loaner vehicle they gave her for the 5th time. This time is because they sold the vehicle she's currently driving and told her they need it without any notice. I have never experienced a worse car dealership in my life. Honestly, stay away from this dealership at all costs. Update: So Lewis Toyota is now trying to swap vehicles with her, but it's an older vehicle, with more miles and of course not what she initially wanted. The vehicle is a little cheaper, but her payments would be $100 dollars more a month with a higher interest rate, most likely because of two major car purchases against her credit. Do not buy anything from this dealership. If they're doing this to a single mom working two jobs, there's no telling what they won't do. read more

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, it does. So, we heard the "lady" didn't make it in to buy the used car. So this afternoon I gave Lewis Toyota in Topeka a call and talk to a different sales person who tells me the car didn't sell and that it's still available. I ask him to check the computer to ensure it's available. He comes back and says it is. So, I make an appointment for 3:30 and head out. I mean there's always time for a second chance. When I arrive, I meet the sales guy and step over to the sales manager's desk behind glass. I think I know why he's behind glass because he's got news that I won't like! The sales guy proceeds to tell me he has some bad news. I reply that the Toyota has sold and he tells me that it sold YESTERDAY. As I turn to leave, the sales guy asks if he can show me something else. As I walk away, I tell them that "there's not a chance in hell" that I will ever come back to Lewis Toyota in Topeka. Purchased new Camry here, Great sales experience, unfortunately the service department is goi g to be there nemesis. I had roughly 3300 miles on it, when I brought it in for A oil change prior to a long road trip, since I was going to be over 5000 miles during the trip I asked to have the 5000 mile Toyota care service done also. When I made my appointment the service desk lady said that the oil change would not be covered under the Toyota care 5000 miles service, I acknowledged this. My wife dropped it off and and picked it up. WOW $140 oil change. Charged $43.45 for a BG Best Value Oil Change, $5.69 for filter, $25.30 for full synthetic oil., then on top of that a $40.00 labor charge and $11.20 MISC Charges. All I asked for was a regular oil change. But also the disrespect for customers property 2 greasy hand prints on the front of the hood, and grease smears on the radiator cover under it. read more

I purchased the BMW 530xi from Tony and Kyle Garrison a couple of weeks ago. I felt that the deal was fair and am very happy with the vehicle. Except - when I purchased the vehicle I was told 3 different times that your dealership put new tires on the car. Upon post-sale inspection, the tires are almost bare and need to be replaced within the next 100 miles. I left a copy of the inspection report for Doug and requested that he call to discuss. After waiting for a few days, and then being told he was sick, I finally got in touch with him over the phone. He told me that he had thrown the inspection report away and was not interested in discussing it with me. He stated that because HE didn't tell me the tires were new, he is not willing to do anything about the tires. He said that despite what the salesperson told me (truth or lie), it is my responsibility to inspect the vehicle. He also told me that Lewis Toyota spends a lot in advertising in Topeka, so it doesn't matter if I'm upset or not. I understand that a used car is not expected to be perfect, but I do expect that if a reputable dealership tells me the car has NEW tires, then it should have new tires. I went to buy a used vehicle and chose one they had just gotten in but it hadn't been cleaned up yet and it had a/c problems. I still purchased it with the assurance it would be ready to go Thursday of the next week. The salesman was unresponsive to status calls so I asked to speak to a manager. He initially said (after trying to justify why the repairs were not done) that it would be ready Tuesday of the next week. Even after calling, he refused to return my call on status. So I have no vehicle and they have my money so they don't care. I expect to have to pay an attorney to contact them to get my money back so I can go elsewhere to find a vehicle. My car started squeaking when I would hit a bump, so I called Lewis Toyota to schedule an oil change and have them look at my car. They said it would be 2 hours for the oil change and probably another hour for them to look at the problem. I took my car in at 10:00 a.m., I called around 1:40 p.m. and the lady that answered the phone told me that the person who could help me was with the customer and she would give me a call back in a few minutes. I waited 40 minutes then I called again and this time I spoke to the lady that knew about my car, she told me that they were waiting to get my car into a tech to look at what might be causing the squeaking. I told her not to worry about that, I needed my car back & I would just reschedule to have it looked at. At that point she told me TO WAIT AN HOUR BEFORE I CAME TO GET MY CAR BECAUSE THEY STILL NEEDED TO CHANGE MY OIL!! I told that's ridiculous, not to change it because I was on my way to pick it up. 4 1/2 hours and they did not get anything done! I will not do anymore business with them. read more

People who are completely incompetent who apparently don't know the first thing about Toyota's (which is amazing considering they are a Toyota dealership). We've taken our 08 Highlander Hybrid there three times now and each time has been progressively worse, after this last time I know NEVER again. They price gouge given the opportunity ($490 to replace one small wire, that it took them two days to find). When asking to speak with a service manager, we finally got someone after waiting for a good 20minutes only to have him promptly ignore me and talk directly to my husband - even though I was the person that requested to speak with him. He was completely condescending. I've known other people that have had major issues with this dealership so I know it's not just a one off. They excel at nothing but taking people for every dime they have. Next time I will happily drive either to the dealership in Lawrence (who are decent) or just take it to a non-dealership. read more

I do not recommend Lewis Toyota. It's a 90 mile round-trip for me to come here. I scheduled new struts and shocks to be installed for my Sequoia and purchased/ordered a new hubcap for it and one for my Corolla S. First, both hubcaps were the wrong color and didn't even closely match the ones on the cars. Second, I tried to order new rear shocks. Toyota said they were on back-order and they couldn't even give me an estimate on when they would get them. I actually had some that I bought on eBay and luckily they said they would be happy to install them. Bonus points for them! Today, I arrived 15 minutes early for a 9:00 am appointment. The service clerk came to me @ 10:00 with the news that they didn't have all of the parts. It's obvious they were not running on schedule at all and he just put my car in the shop. He them asked me if I had the parts for my shocks. I said yes they were with them. How ignorant can they be. I had left them in the drivers floorboard. Kinda hard to overlook them. Then he tells me that the struts I ordered did not come in. Seriously? Why didn't I get a call to reschedule? I have lost a day of work and driven ninety miles for this nonsense! Then I went to parts only to find the hubcap that they had to order was wrong! I'll NEVER give them any of my business again and suggest the same for anyone else. read more

Original Review: If you're financing a vehicle through this place as a family member learned a couple of days ago, this dealership seems to have a problem with processing paperwork. That paperwork snafu led to a vehicle repo, which was not performed in accordance with Kansas law. (I have extended family in the repo business in KC so I know what I'm writing here.) This dealership has led my family member through hoops to get their situation resolved and has been absolutely horrible to deal with. I am posting this as a 1 Star review. While my family member signed the lease I have been actively involved in trying to clean up the mess and that qualifies me to write this review. I've experienced the nightmare first hand. Quite simply, Lewis Toyota sucks. They are not worth doing business with and we have regrets for ever considering a purchase from them. Edit: Lewis Toyota's General Manager saw this review and made contact. He has asked for additional information to try and investigate and correct the problems I listed below. So I test drove a vehicle on a Weds at Lewis Toyota was 100% interested in buying it. I told the salesperson at the time that I heard a bad grinding in the back when braking. He also heard the grinding in question but guaranteed the car had been gone over and was 100% good to go. I (and this was my huge huge mistake) assumed that he would still go to service and let them know there was a major grinding noise in the back but ya know of course nothing could be wrong they had gone over it 100%. Well i get the vehicle on thursday night and I'm driving home i notice that my dash lights dont work and i'm still hearing this grinding in the rear braking. I call immediately he said call and set up service the next day. Well they couldnt see the vehicle til Monday. By Monday the dash lights were actually working but the brakes well turns out the rear brakes were complete rusted. They replaced the brakes and assured me that yet again they had gone over and inspected it 100% and everything was good to go. I drove the car to KC that night were it parked for a week while i went on a trip. My parents decided they wanted to test drive it so they got in it to go but the steering wheel wouldnt adjust at all (electronic) i being small had never even thought to check something like that. I get home Tuesday start the car Dash lights dont work 20 mins later they came on again. I drive it home that night im at some 70 miles on it from the time i bought it and i hear a rattle anytime it hits a bump. I finally get a break in work the following monday to call and i take it to them tuesday morning because they didnt have time monday. They couldnt figure out the dashlights again and the rattle im hearing oh thats a strut gone bad but its not covered under the powertrain warranty so itll be 1000 to fix a vehicle that hadnt been out of inspection but 50-60 miles when the 100% good to go part all of a sudden just gave out. I threw a fit about a price tag like that on something they very easily would have found had it been honesly inspected because struts dont just give out in 40 miles that stuff takes time. They're response is that they will work on the price see what they can do.(oh the steering wheel also not covered $150 part right there also). come the following monday they call me up and tell me the best they can do is knock 150 off the parts but my cost is all mostly labor and they cant help on that at all. So a vehicle fresh off the used car lot has and 850$ repair bill even after being guaranteed it was 100% inspected not once(before the brakes) but twice (after they fixed the assured 100% inspected rusty brakes). Even better was their other option was i could wait for the title and trade it in...... I can assure you i will Never do business with them again after this i will drive to Kansas city to deal with a toyota dealership if i need to. Note this vehicle was high mileage and i expect issues on high mile vehicles but not ones that have been inspected twice and not after only 70 miles being driven.!!!! read more

I'll never walk back into this dealership and suggest you don't either. My experiences dealing with them have been the worst of any company that I've ever dealt with at least in this lifetime. I don't remember past lives, but I doubt if any previous existences could top this. Up until recently I've had nothing but great experiences. Drove in from Lawrence to have both our Toyotas serviced there and had positive experiences. Friendly helpful service staff so when it came time to buy a car for the spouse, we went to Lewis and everything was great. When I was in a car accident and had to accelerate, pardon the pun, a car purchase the salesperson was great although the transaction was simple. Only one Prius on the lot. Sticker price and done. It's when I went to pay, believe it or not, all heck broke loose. Since I had a settlement from my insurance I was them what I should do. SIgn it over the salesperson said and the rest I could put on points for my credit card. When I actually went to do this, I was told I couldn't pay more than $200 via credit card and they wouldn't accept the check from the insurance company and I'd have to finance it if I wanted to leave today with the car---knowing that I had been dropped off and I had returned my rental car. I was over the barrel. When I called my agent and he said the finance manger was full of smoke (he used a different term) they accepted the check but reminded me that if it bounced I'd be arrested for stealing the car. But wait, it gets better. I was told due to the patriot act they would need my social security number to run a credit check. No really. I knew that was "smoke"-they just didn't want me to pay cash. I have a credit lock anyways so I would have to unlock it for them to continue. The manager was rude, offensive, belligerent and just downright ornery. Who would have thought paying for the car was trouble? I contacted Toyota national as well as the dealership and my requests fell on deaf ears. Contacting Homeland Security got action as they don't take kindly to dealers using 9/11 to finance a car. Got an apology from the dealership and an explanation the manager's wife was dying of cancer and that's why he was off and no worries, he was retiring. I decided to continue with the dealership based on that Fast forward to a few years later and after spending thousands on dealers service, my car was up for an extended warranty. Did research and contacted the dealership and made sure that manager wasn't there. I was told he wasn't and I'd deal with a new person. Went to pick up the warranty and the "retired" manager was there. Same belittlement I received when trying to pay. No paperwork was ready and I had to endure this so-called gentleman for over an hour. When I mentioned to a cashier how frustrated I was and how I regret purchasing from Lewis. I called Toyota to complain and they mentioned the paperwork hadn't been processed, but my credit card was charged. I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the manager decided to void the warranty and the deal. It wasn't until I withdrew the claim that they processed the warranty. Seriously, I wouldn't trust these guys with a tricycle at this point given the shady dealings they delight in. read more
