I had my Jeep towed in with a seized motor. They confirmed I'd need a new motor and quoted a pretty high price to replace it. I asked what I owed them for the diagnosis and was told around $30. I found a cheaper price elsewhere but when I showed up to collect my vehicle my diagnosis fee jumped to $95. Don't trust any quote they give you. It's a bait and switch operation. read more

I would rate the sales department higher than a 1 star, but they are over-ridden by the service department. Without a competent service department to back up the sales department and continue a good vehicle experience, there is no reason to buy from this dealer. My nearly $50,000 vehicle was in for service numerous times for the same issue while under warranty. The outcome was always to kick the can down the road. The problem has now caused $4,000 in computer chip repairs and their response is tough doo-doo since it's out of warranty. Incompetence, ignorance, lack of interest, poor management, sleaziness . . . who knows. It can only be described and a 1 star experience and a firm "no" vote on where I, or anyone I make recommendations to, plan on buying their next vehicle. read more

Worst place to ever go to service a Jeep! They left me hanging for days without so much as a phone call to the status of my Jeep. I got so frustrated I called Biggers a couple of blocks away....Guy put me on hold for a couple of minutes and came back to let me know that the part I need is discontinued by the manufacturer so I would have to go with aftermarket. Done and done. John-Hoffer still doesnt even know why the part hasnt arrived! How many ways can you spell STUPID? And to not call a customer and let them know ANYTHING after 4 days? I dont trust these morons with my Jeep now. Going to get it take it to Briggs. Briggs is much better on cost too by over $100! John-Hoffer is a scam of hacks. Stay away! read more

I had a great buying experience with Mike at John Hoffer. I got a fair price with very little haggling. After purchasing a used vehicle, I noticed a small fluid leak. I contacted the used car sales manager and he was very cooperative. I explained that I was nearing the limit of my dealer warranty and would likely go over the mileage before I could get the car to them. He told me that since I had contacted him, they would honor the warranty. I dropped the car off and got a nice Jeep loaner while the work was done. They out-sourced the work since my vehicle was a GMC. They ensured the problem was fixed and covered all of the parts/labor for the repair. Great experience purchasing from John Hoffer Jeep. We found the Jeep we wanted on their website. We called and talked to Mike in Sales who said he would check inventory and call us back. He called back within 15 min to let us know they did have it. We found a lot of positive reviews on Google for the dealership so decided to drive from KC to Topeka to get it. Arrived and the Jeep was parked out front waiting for us. Mike showed us the features of our Wrangler Unlimited including how to take the tops/doors off, mobile pairing, etc. while the finance guy starting running numbers. He also introduced us to the owner who still comes to work at the dealership every day for the past 35 years. Once the numbers were ready we went back to Greg, signed the papers and were on our way in 15 minutes. They threw in a pair of side steps for the Jeep and would receive them in a few weeks for us to go pick up. Once arrived they let us know and shipped them free of charge to save us the drive, which made the deal all the sweeter. Definitely recommend this dealership - it was worth the drive compared to all the KC-area dealerships we called/saw who never got back to us. read more

ABSOLUTELY the WORST car buying experience! Well, I should say, "attempted" car buying experience. We went to the dealership to purchase a certified pre-owned vehicle and found one of interest. We went through all of the expected car purchasing processes; test drive, trade-in negotiations, and paperwork. We had already obtained preapproval from our lending institution before we began this process, so they knew we were good to go and serious about buying a vehicle. The salesperson and sales manager even suggested that we take the vehicle home overnight and "really look it over" to make sure there wasn't anything that needed to be addressed prior to finalizing the purchase. We did and found several minor items that needed attention, which we addressed with them the next morning and they agreed to make the repairs that day. I even double-checked their office hours with them because we wouldn't be able to get back with them until after work. When we returned after work to check on the repairs and finalize the sale, we were met by the salesperson with a blunt "We sold it to someone else". Now we understand that legally they could do that because we hadn't yet signed on the bottom line; HOWEVER, is that the kind of customer service you would expect? Is that how you would start a business relationship with a potential repeat customer? We certainly did not and we most certainly would not. They knew we were coming back and they knew we were serious about the purchase because we asked for the repairs and we signed all of their waivers and car reports. If I were Mr. Hoffer, I would be very disappointed to hear that customers are being treated in such an unprofessional and dishonest manner. And while I'm sure it doesn't really matter to either of the salespeople involved in this experience, this was our first and last business dealing with John Hoffer Chrysler Jeep. And you can be certain that we have and will continue to share our experience with all of our friends, family, and associates to hopefully prevent them from having to go through anything similar. Vehicle purchases are major expenditures and a high level of professionalism and customer courtesy should be expected by all dealerships. I sincerely hope that Hoffer's management (even Hoffer himself) reads this review and utilizes this experience to make some positive changes in their sales department.
