The atmosphere was buzzing with energy, but still felt warm and welcoming. One of the owners even took time to chat with us and share the story of how The 8th Side came to be. That kind of personal touch always sticks with me--it's a real neighborhood gem with heart. Although the kitchen was closing by the time we arrived (I had my eye on their noodles!), we did grab some drinks and checked out their corner filled with Pokémon cards, collectibles, and merch. I mentioned how familiar all the props seemed from when I used to visit a little magic shop in Ferndale in the 1970s owned by Romeg the Magician and then Poof! As if by magic they pointed to a photo behind the counter and told me that this store was in fact the second reincarnation of that very magical place from my childhood, transported to Clawson 40 years later.
