It's a hang out for locals- a small cliche of "Lonely Hearts Club Band" members from Downriver, sitting in the back reminiscing on the past and discussing sports and current events. One old dude, short, diminutive, wears an old jet black toupee, which seems to shift and move as he speaks! He is sort of a mafia - wannabe character- he acts Like he owns the place! He has been kicked out of few cigar bars downriver for his reclusive attitude and acts like he has seen too many "Godfather" and Mafiosa movies. If there ever was a remake of the Godfather, he would steal the part for Michael Corleone's brother " Fredo"! Good wait staff! The management is weak and makes the atmosphere very "Clique-ish"! The owners attitude toward new customers mean that they just want to cater to their old clientele! If you want to talk baseball, it might be the place to go! It's a dope spot,, I am definitely keen to the "low key" dimly lit atmosphere. Cigar smoking is allowed inside as well, as long as it's purchased from their humidor. I always order the "Rodney special." I prefer it in a martini glass. Bartender said that my drink will not fit in any of their martini glass. So I told her, fit it where it can fit and it happened. Happy camper right at that moment. Music sets the mood for me. All the wood grain, dimly lit smoky atmosphere gets me in the mood for some speak easy. Sinatra era type of music. So I load up the touch tune app, stick some money in it and start playing some Diana Krall, Michael Bublé, Henry Connick, etc. You get the drift. Somehow a real tree fitting gentleman at a table talking to some guy in a blue scrub suit had a problem with us. It got to the point where he shot me the middle finger,, I shot one back,, i wasn't scared. Gave him the, "there's the parking lot outside" nod." Although I could only imagine if it was some new patron that didn't know how to stick it back to a bar room bully. Specially the "Real Tree" apparel wearing type. I could tell the bar tender and her friend was trying hard to keep us happy. Even joked around with us to make the atmosphere a little less hostile, but the damage has been done. The service was definitely amazing, but unfortunately I will never probably set foot in this establishment again. For a cigar bar, you would never know it by the outside. It looks like a run down shack with a dilapidated parking lot. The only way you know it is what it is is the sign calls itself a cigar and martini bar. For me, I wasn't too impressed. There's nothing really different than the other cigar bars in the Metro Detroit and Tri-County area. Leather seating, high tops, a walk-in humidor, bar, TV with sports, and such. The reason for the 3 star is the lack of selections, lack of knowledge of the staff, and the lack of diversity with drinks. No really great tasting beers or drinks that can compliment the flavor of the cigars. And if you ask the person running the bar, she doesn't really know. I'll probably go again just because I finally know what I like but, it's nothing to rave about. read more

We have been here on multiple occasions. It's a very nice place with a great atmosphere. Plenty of soft leather couches and chairs as well as high top tables to accommodate groups. They're drink menu is pretty extensive for scotches and martinis. Reasonably priced with a good staff. The only drawback is they have no food or snack items. That would be a definite plus. From the keylime pie martini to the sugar daddy ( that tasts like the candy) the chocolate, the carribean I could go on and on and of course the all time dirty and regular. Then there is the humidor stocked with fine cigars with personal lockers to rent. Ladies night is thursday with $5.00 martini's for the ladies. Well Done! The outside of this place is deceiving, it looks like a 1 star diner. I would have never stopped in without a recommendation from my dad and some friends. When I walked in I was Impressed! This place is great. Great drinks, reasonable prices, AWESOME environment. Everything is top of the line (Except they don't have vanilla Stolli). It's been a few years since I've been to Stix,. Nice selection of cigars and martinis. I had the salted caramel pretzel martini and boy, did that go down smooth!! The chocolate on the rim and sea salt was delicious too. It wasn't very busy when we got there but the bartender was friendly and the couches and decor were comfortable and pleasing to the eye. One star off because the music was super loud hard rock. Some soft relaxing jazz or r&b would have been better. Otherwise a pretty decent experience. read more

Nice quiet spot to enjoy a drink and cigar. Unfortunately, they do not have food but they do allow outside food to be brought in. I came here with my girlfriend last night. I've been wanting to check this place out, and I remembered that Thursdays is ladies night with 1/2 off of martini's. When we walked in we noticed that the ratio of men to women was about 10 to 1...a lot more men than women, which is a HUGE plus! The place used to be a hair salon and now it's a swanky martini and cigar bar! Comfy sofas, flat screen t.v.'s and mahogany tables and accents all add to the ambiance of the place. They had an extensive drink menu with all sort's of tasty concoctions. I opted for an apple and pomegranate martini, which both went down pretty well, while schmoozing with a couple of *could be* sugar daddies seated at the table behind us! read more

I have a friend who is a cigar lover and he told me that I had to check out this bar with him. He lives 30 miles away, and I only live 5 so it was an easy sell. I was pleasantly surprised. A true Martini Bar that allows you to smoke cigars. The place has a lot of couches with a very comfortable feel. The formula is to sell very good drinks, (not cheap) and allow people to smoke cigars, which they will of course gladly sell to you. Because the drinks are not typical downriver cheap the waitstaff is attentive and attractive due to increased tip potential. My buddy told me that one good thing about this bar is that they allow you to bring your own cigars in to smoke. Many cigar bars don't allow you to do this. The patrons understand that they have to sell cigars so people aren't jerks about this. We both bought a cigar to support the bar. One reviewer stated that there were a lot more men than women in the bar. Well of course this is true. Most cigar smokers are men. I've always been surprised that more women don't go to these type of bars. The men tend to be professionals, or at least successful. Cigar smoking isn't a low income type of hobby. One pet peeve. When we were there two ladies were sitting accross from us. One lady kept fanning herself because of the cigar smoke. You're in a cigar bar lady! My buddy and I have been going to Stix for years. It is really well done inside and has plush leather chairs, big flat screen TVs, and if you are able to, a nice private smoking room. They have a really good selection of cigars. I don't think the selection is small, but I think it is pretty average. The waitresses have been nothing but awesome to us. Service is always prompt. We haven't gone when it has been packed, but we have been there on several busy nights and I haven't felt ignored. The cigars are priced okay. They used to give coupons where you could buy 2 cigars and get 1 free. I wish they did that again because I would be inclined to buy more. The other downside is that the drinks are a bit pricey, but I did not feel that they were watered down. read more

Went here for the first time tonight. Great atmosphere for the cigar lovers in the area. Walk in humidor is well stocked with a wide range of cigars from the budget minded to the high end brands. I found the staff friendly and helpful. If you don't know something just ask the staff loves to talk about their craft. The scotch list is vast and pricing is on par with similar venues. I love this place! During the week it has such a nice relaxing atmosphere. It's classy without being stuffy. The martinis are very well made and the bar staff very friendly. I have been checking out the cigar lounges/bars around the southeast area from Ann Arbor to Detroit, and Styx out classes them all. They have a fantastic lounge that is open to the public. It sports comfortable leather couches chairs and stools. The bar is well stocked with a great line of Scotch and wine and not to mention a fantastic line of Martinis and beer. They have plenty off tv's for the viewing sports and movies. The humidor is first class and private lockers are available for $60,00 and $120.00 a year that includes a 20% discount on boxes of cigars, that you can mix and match any way to that you want. Cigar selection is adequate , liquor selection is good, service is sub-par, manager likes to hang out with their group of friends or regulars and crank the jukebox volume up to levels where you can't hear the person next to you speaking. I'm always up for a good Martini and Stix does not disappoint! I counted the menu, and there are around 80 different martini's. Just an absolute amazing selection. And the prices were very reasonable! They also have a great selection of cigars and fine scotches. The staff is extremely friendly, attentive, and can recommend drinks if you are not sure what you want. This is definitely more of a "man cave" type decor with huge, comfortable leather seats & couches, LCD tvs everywhere; but this makes it an extremely comfortable environment to enjoy a great drink.
