I decided to try this place after dinner at Mootz so I wasn't able to try any of the food items. The service was great and the staff was super informative as this was my first time trying this cigar lounge. The multiple spaces whether intimate or coving with a small crowd were all perfectly situated. I was able to sit and watch the rest of the Michigan game comfortably. A friendly woman helped my boyfriend pick us out cigars and the prices were what we were used to. The staff is highly knowledgeable and even when they don't know an answer, they at least are honest and tell you to your face and they will actually try to find something that you may prefer. I'm not a cigar smoker, but La Casa definitely has a great vibe. In the summer, they feature live outdoor bands, adding to the atmosphere. The drinks are decent, and while I can't personally vouch for the cigars, I've heard they have an excellent selection. The members only area is much more spacious than the downstairs section and provides a little bit more of a relaxing atmosphere, so if you're a cigar connoisseur and prefer a VIP type experience, I'd recommend getting a membership. read more

This time after a concert at nearby Little Caesar's Arena we took the short walk chose some sticks and had a few drinks while chilling and taking in a game. We decided that since we already missed kickoff we would head in here for a few drinks and a cigar. What a great spot! We absolutely loved it! This spot featured two rooms with a walk in humidor. He selected a pumpkin spiced cigar (tasted like cinnamon to me) and we ordered some drinks. The bartender was so great. We chatted up a storm with her. She's also a nurse so it was fun comparing stories. We ordered a few drinks. They did not have a decent selection of beers and only offered bottles of beer so I was a bit disappointed in that. But apple crown and Vernors always works for me! We were able to watch the game while we were there. We couldn't believe what we were seeing! It was time to go or we were about to miss it all!! Nice cigar lounge downtown in the city. My homie has a membership and we usually go on the weekends or after work some days. The weekends definitely get a little live outside. You will typically see motorcycles, 3 wheelers and expensive cars up and down the street. The vibe is very relaxing. Music will be coming from multiple directions. Stopped in here as my last "bar hopping" stop of my Monday night. It was my cousins idea to stop here, but mine because I don't smoke and didn't want to be surrounded by clouds of smoke but it wasn't too smokey. We sat at the bar. The bartender walked by us several times and didn't acknowledge us but looked. After about 8 to 10 mins she somewhat greeted us. We ordered two martinis. Not sure if she knew how to make them cause she kind of gave us a blank stare plus it didn't taste the best. They did have NBA championship game and the crowd was there. The bartending didn't really check on us and when we asked for our check she had someone else hand it to us. The drinks were $10 + a $5 martini fee. I doubt I would come back here. Maybe with a different bartender working. She was however friendly and attentive to the males at the bar so this would probably be a good place for men if she's bartending. Oh and didn't even know they sold food here cause we didn't get a menu but the kitchen might have been closed when we went. read more

I'm not a fan of cigar bars because I hate smelling like smoke for days after. However, my cousin was given a surprise bday party so I had to attend. La casa has a heated outdoor tent that has great ventilation so you aren't enveloped in smoke the entire time. They had a great dj/band that played house music and got the crowd moving. The only downside was when the heat went out on one side of the tent so everyone was crowded together. Only then did I feel like there was too much smoke for me so I left. If you like cigars and live house music this is the place to go. read more

One word... VENTILATION. Get some, please. I will give it 2 stars because I can tell that some people honestly enjoy this place, and there aren't many cigar bars in Detroit. However the air quality is simply unacceptable. Cigar bars should have built in systems to siphon the smoke out immediately. You can literally taste the smoke in the air, and you can see it... not to mention my clothes completely saturated. This is unpleasant not to mention unhealthy. Located maybe a block from Comerica Park in Detroit, La Casa is my favorite cigar bar in downtown Detroit. La Casa has that gritty downtown vibe but is still very well maintained and clean with newer fixtures. The bar area is adorn with fine wood paneling and crown molding. Granite counter tops. It has a decent selection of large LCD screens making it a great bar for either a Tigers pregame stop or even as the destination itself. The humidor has an impressive selection of my favorite premium cigars. Huge selection of Liga Privada and Padron. The prices are reasonable. The drink prices are cigar bar typical. I've been to La Casa a few times and it's been decent. But, last night my experience was very unfortunate. I'm a bartender myself and being in the service industry isn't for everyone. Especially the manager, Mick. He was just awful. My friend and I walked in around 9pm and sat at the bar. Mick saw us and said nothing which as a bartender isn't friendly or professional at all. It was (exactly) 5 people at the bar, so he wasn't busy at all. He finally made his way to us and slammed down two drink napkins and said "what can I get for you." I responded condescendingly "HELLO!" He said hi and took our order. I've never been to La Casa that late but I was told by another customer never to get the cigars out of the lounge, only next door. Unfortunately it was too late because we had already ordered two cigars from the lounge that were indeed terrible and overpriced. Next door was closed. I asked Mick how his night was going and he said he was "tired and ready to go home." I asked what time he got there and he said 6pm....... so he's really complaining about being there for 4 1/2 hours. He was the rudest most unfriendly person I've ever met. And please don't forget he's the MANAGER! Getting off from an 8 hour shift as a bartender to sit down at a bar where the service was horrible just reminds me to keep providing great service no matter what the circumstance. Nevertheless, I still tipped 25%. I won't be back. Mick needs to be seriously spoken to! This is not ok! read more

When I'm in Detroit longing to have a drink and cigar I definitely come to La Casa. Always a friendly, diverse crowd that openly welcomes another cigar smoker. There's a wide array of bottled beers, along with a good selection of hard liquor available. You can bring in your own cigar or purchase one of their private labels that I think are all $8 each. I enjoy their cigars so much that I no longer pack my own when traveling here. And it certainly doesn't hurt having their convenient location - across the lot from my Hilton Garden Inn and just blocks from both Comerica Park and Ford Field. Try it, you'll like it!! read more

Today I was in the mood for a good smoke before my meeting at Wayne State Med School, so I figured I would pay one of my favorite cigar shops a visit, La Casa De La Habana, located in Detroit's downtown Harmonie Park. When I lived in Detroit a few years ago, this was one of my main spots. especially on Friday nights. I love the Cuban cultural influence that the designers had when building this place. Everything is properly laid out. One side of this establishment sells cigar essentials such as humidors, cigar cutters, travel humidors and other necessary supplies that any true cigar afficionado would carry. They are even selling hats a scarves now. Sweet! Upon entering, the tabbaconist, was very helpful and friendly. I didn't know him from a hole in the wall, but he made me feel very welcomed, like I was I catching up with an old friend from years' past. He guided me to the humidor and encouraged me to take a look. The humidor was completely stocked with all of the big name heavy hitters in the cigar industry. Everything from Fuente to the crappy brick house cigars was on deck. They didn't have a large boutique selection of cigars which was a downer, but all in all the selection selection was good, nothing really over the top. After taking a while and thoroughly selecting my morning smoke which was a Fuente short story, I decided to go into their Comacho smoke lounge and enjoy my cigar along with a cup of water. The cigar was really good as Fuente's normally are. It was perfectly humidified, had perfect construction and had very good flavors off the draw. Their lounge on the first floor is very nice and is equipped with a full service bar. They also have an exceptionally nice members lounge on the second floor with another full service bar that offers exceptional top shelf spirits and seated areas. I enjoyed my experience overall, and definitely will be back soon. The service here is great, the decor is very warm and gives you a beautiful slice of Cuba. This is one of the nicest cigar lounges in the nation and definitely the nicest cigar lounge in the Detroit city proper. read more

They have a really nice selection of cigars and since he's a bit of a "cigar snob" it's fun place for him. If you enter the right doors you'll end up on the cigar shop. They have a humidity and temperature controlled room that you can shop in. The staff will cut your cigars for you if you want to smoke right away or pack it nicely if not. The matches are always available. If you enter the left doors you will be in the cigar bar and lounge. They offer some nice cocktails, beers, and wine. There is seating at the bar or some sofas to relax in. There is a club with private lounging available if you want the most of your cigar smoking experience. Lockers are also available. I shorted one star because the waitress was pretty preoccupied. We ended up leaving her less of a tip than we wanted because we couldn't get her to pick up the bill. Otherwise a great shop and fun place for couples. read more

After an awesome dinner at Fishbone's, I had the opportunity of visiting La Casa while I was in Detroit for meetings. I loved the place immediately upon entering. One side has the humidor and comfortable seating and the other side has a full bar and tv screens. The cigar collection wasn't the most expansive but had all the popular brands such as Fuenté, Padrón, Davidoff and Drew Estate to name a few. I tried a new cigar, Liga Perfecta by House of Lucky, as recommended by the shop. Afterwards, I walked over to the bar and ordered a Glen Levit and enjoyed the evening. La Casa is reasonably priced, decent parking and a good selection of drinks and cigars. I highly recommend stopping by if you are ever around. read more

There's two sides to this biz: a cigar humidor/retail side, and a bar. I hit the humidor first and was greeted by a young lady offering suggestions, but I opted for the gold standard... a Montecristo. After completing my purchase she punched it and lit it for me. Perfect. Then I walked across the hall/entrance to the bar and enjoyed my smoke with a drink. Chill atmosphere. Servers were attentive but not all up in my business. I "worked" on my iPad for a while and simply relaxed. Try it... It's good for you. ;) They have 50+/- vodkas, 75ish whisky/bourbon/scotches, and other misc wines and such. More beer than you can drink in a night too. If I find myself in Detroit again, I'll be back. read more

Before I start I must say that on the cigar side, the people are nice and knowledgeable of their cigars. However, this one particular bartender on the other side gives this place a horrible, disgusting, and atrocious atmosphere. I do not know her name but she wears wigs with red lipstick on each occasion I have visited. Once, she had an attitude after asking to order a second drink and tossed the drink so hard that it slid and spilled all over me. I excused it as an honest mistake. Second visit, my boyfriend tried to ask her a question, she turned her face up and gave him so much attitude that I asked him if we could leave. Today, (third visit and why do we come back? Because they stay open later than most cigar bars), we opened a tab with another bartender who was very nice and pleasant. However, when she walked away, we asked wig with red lips for another drink. I politely asked her to add it to my tab. She asked my name, I gave her my full name and told her the other bartender took my card. She interrupted me with nasty attitude and yelled WHAT IS YOUR NAME and rolled her eyes. So I said it louder that I told her my name but I'll say it again. She put her hand toward me, rolled her eyes, and walked away. The remainder of the night, she told every person that worked there something and they kept looking at my friends and I. At the end of the night, a white lady came with fake lips and a fake ass (wig and red lips told her the same story) and requested we leave but not to anyone else at the bar. At this time, We tipped more than our bill which we usually do and I thanked the original bartender who was kind, patient, and had excellent customer service. The gentlemen who were sitting next to us at the bar saw the whole thing and stated she always has a nasty attitude and sometimes it's best not to entertain it. However, it's difficult not to entertain it when she is continuously giving bad attitude for such a great place. My boyfriend has met the owner and said he's a great person. Well if he knows any better, this girl is not good for such a great establishment. read more

I dont usually leave a review but it feels like i have to, we usually go at La CASa Las Vegas and i actually met the owner and introduce me with a Cigar it so nice that when we visit to Detroit Michigan it so nice to know that they have a La Casa here and its a the same owner what i never like is i cant find a cigar that i usually get in LA CASA Las Vegas so i lit a cig and i wasnt inform that i cant smoke a cigarette here, the bartender wasnt very nice to give me a ashtray or atleast inform me he just do a sign language like i cant smoke a cig which is odd because i can actually do that in LA CASA i Vegas, my boyfriend is smoking Cigar it just happend that the Cigar i usually get they dont have it, they should at least call me and inform me not like ignoring me and hesitant to give an ashtray ... a very rude service, the excitement turn not to be a good experience not sure if this place is racist since we come here all the patrons are all black and the service i got is diff.. read more

Very nice cigar lounge. These guys have got it and know who they are and want to be! I travel quite a bit and visited many lounges where they just can't keep it simple and just be a lounge.
