Extremely Disappointing and Unwelcoming Experience My friend and I went to Did It My Way Wine & Cigar Bar so he could enjoy a cigar and an Old Fashioned while we watched the remainder of the Lions game. Before going, we checked the posted hours--Google showed they were open until 11:30 p.m., and Apple showed midnight. From the moment we walked in, however, we felt completely unwelcome. We were immediately greeted with attitude and told that they were closing early at 11:00 p.m. and that the lounge was closed. We politely responded that it was fine and had no issue with the early closing. My friend ordered an Old Fashioned, and I only had water. After placing his drink in front of him, the bartender never came back to check on us. She never asked if my friend wanted another drink, never refilled my water, and essentially provided no service beyond taking the initial order. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that several people came in after us, yet we did not observe them receiving the same attitude that we were receiving. Then, at 10:36 p.m., the bartender brought us our bill--even though she had told us they were closing at 11:00. We respectfully paid it without arguing or complaining. We later realized that our check had been entered as a party of two and gratuity was already included, despite the fact that I had not ordered anything. The included gratuity was not pointed out to us (except on the bill for 2 or more), and as a result, we unknowingly tipped a second time. That was especially frustrating considering the level of service--or lack thereof--that we received. Toward the very end of the Lions game, with literally only seconds remaining, the bartender attempted to turn the game off. I said, "Come on, there are only a few seconds left." She ultimately left it on, but proceeded to scold me again about the fact that she was closing. There were still other patrons inside enjoying their drinks, so I genuinely do not understand what harm there was in allowing us to watch the final few seconds of the game. It was even more frustrating considering anyone walking through the door that evening would have reasonably expected the business to be open according to the hours publicly listed online. I am normally very understanding when someone seems to be having a bad day. You never know what another person may be going through, and I will usually overlook someone's attitude if the service itself is decent. But this went far beyond that. We were polite. We accepted the early closing without complaint. We ordered, paid our bill when it was presented to us, and caused absolutely no problems. Yet from the moment we arrived, we felt as though we were being rushed out and treated like an inconvenience. I have honestly never felt so disrespected or unwelcome by a bartender--especially one who barely checked on us in the first place. We came in expecting to relax, enjoy a cigar and a drink, and finish watching the Lions game. Instead, we left feeling like our business was not wanted. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not return. read more

I was very surprised at how great this place was. I always look for a cigar lounge/bar when I travel and I have been to many great ones and this was definitely one of them! The entrance is inside a building with a revolving door and not just on the street. They have a lot of seats and tvs but it is a very comfortable feel to just relax, have a cigar, watch the game and enjoy yourself. I have no idea how old this place is or have been around but Im glad I found it. I was in a spot alone facing the wall lol and above the wall were 2 tvs in a high spots. One had on an old game of Cubs v Cardinals with Zambrano pitching so I was all about it and the other had funny dog videos. It was probably the best things to have on to relax to lol. The weather sucks butts in Detroit winter at -1 and 0 degrees but I was walking distance to this place and worth the whole walk in that shit weather. read more

The place has a great vibe. Great music being played, comfortable seating, and excellent service. Ordered Old Fashioned's. Looked good until I tasted it. No bueno. Unbalanced with several cubes. Ordered a Martini with Tanguera. Much better. Ventilation is great. Other Yelpers must not be cigar peeps. read more

Did It My Way serves steaks on Sunday. My boyfriend and I shared a delicious meal of montreal steak and filet with greens. The steaks were cooked perfectly. The greens are prepared with something sweet; they are different. We will try a different side next time. The chef Clifton prepared the stuffed squash blossom (not on the menu), but absolutely amazing! If this ever becomes a menu item, order it. I have no idea what it is, but it was delicious. We love the ambiance of the bar. There are comfortable chairs next to the fireplace and a huge selection of cigars to choose from. The chef and bartender made our dinner very special. I am looking forward to returning the next time we visit Detroit. read more

It's hard to rate this place because the service, drinks and atmosphere was really good but everything is really over priced and I vist cigar spots all over the country as I travel. Guess I could have smoked one of my own.... but I like to buy one from the spot that I'm visiting. read more

Oh what a night!!!! I attended the Grand Opening of this new luxury cigar bar in Detroit, Did It My Way! This place is most certainly the scene; it's the place to be! I loved the the decor and layout of the lounge, from bar seating, intimate tables arranged for two, and larger seating areas for a group with leather couches. The humidor offered a large selection of cigars ranging in price and the drinks, top tier. For this occasion, a buffet was arranged with a spread of appetizers in celebration of the big event. This party went until 2am....and oh what a time was had! I can't wait to come back for another round! read more

We celebrated my husband's birthday at this establishment 10 months ago, then they one on here and lie and say there's an altercation all because I said the service was horrible. The drinks were overcharged and water down. There was no Cook no Chef they told us the Chef had walked out so they were just trying to get in where they fit in, but the cigarettes were great not once was there an altercation, but I get it make an excuse for a sinking business hire Chef get better barmaids that know how to serve better drinks and I'm sure the business will Boom then but don't get on here and lie cause karma will get you and their business that you're lying about will fail. like it's slowly doing now. Such a horrible experience with the bartender on 8.8.26. She exhibited unnecessary aggression when my party and I were closing out our tab with our actual server. Aggressive, rude and complete disrespect are not behaviors I would think their management would want in their establishment. read more

The lack of ventilation is the worst part about this place. The food was good. The service is good. The ambience is sexy as hell and I love it however, the fact that it is so damn smoky in this place is gotta be a health issue like where is the ventilation that is literally the only thing that is somewhat wrong with this place is the ventilation and I definitely think that the health department should take a look into it because it was so damn smoky it didn't make no sense. Went in the evening midweek. Warm and relaxing. Nice selection of cigars and bourbon. The burger was undercooked; however, I chose not to make an issue of it. I am certain they would have compensated me without question. The staff was very personable and attentive. read more

Service and Food was amazing! We went before their grand opening so it was a smaller crowd. The cook was an older Black lady and the potatoes were hand peeled! The food was absolutely perfect, I ordered a burger and a few drinks. Servers were great, highly recommended. read more

I had such a great experience here that I came back again before heading back to Miami. The lounge is upscale, welcoming, and has an incredible cigar selection along with a top-notch bar. On my first visit, Wolf provided outstanding service, and this time Sandra took care of me with the same high level of hospitality. My first time there on 7/2. Stopped in for a friend's birthday and sat at the bar. The bar maid was very rude when I questioned why was there a $20 and 20% gratuity added to the bill. She informed me it was in the menu which I never got. She prepared a drink for my husband but never asked if I wanted anything. My husband called her back over to service me. He also asked for a lighter fill-up, but she said they didn't have any fluid. I did not feel welcome at all. Whenever she interacted with other patrons that were middle eastern or Caucasian she was nice and smiling. $62 for a glass of wine and drink was ridiculous. Too many hidden fees.
