Fabulous restaurant bar atmosphere with a mix of folks and ages. The food at Maison Kasai is extremely good, a bit salty with some dishes but good and memorable. The Parker house rolls, shrimp, crab fried rice. King salmon, wagyu steak, rib eye is good too. The service is on point and a little busy, but if you're patient, the folks are attentive. This place should be called LEVEL 2 because that's the highest rating it's getting from me right now. Apparently, there's a dress code to go upstairs? I walked in earlier and there was no issue! All I wanted was to grab tacos at the Moxy's food truck on this level and people gave me a hard time. It's ridiculous to shame customers! I literally saw some people going upstairs with hardly anything on and heading to the bar like that. Meanwhile I have a button-up shirt on and people are giving me looks, so stupid. It's a shame that people don't know how to dress anymore. This is a vacation hotel, and it felt like a prison at points. Level 8 also has poor signage and a confusing set-up, all the restaurants on the level are mashed together and you'll never guess where one ends and another begins. Also, I came right at opening and NO one was ready. All the restaurants were unattended and I was forced to wait another hour. Level 8 does not stick to its scheduled business hours. The only reason I'm not going to totally hate on this place is because of the tacos I had at the food truck. They tasted great, but weren't worth the battle. I'm a party bus driver and last night was the last time I take my people here. First the bouncer, one in specific is VERY RUDE! Went last night after a Lakers game. There were a few people in line outside and it went by pretty quick. I was wearing sneakers and sports attire and they did not have an issue with what I had on. Once you go inside, you take the elevator up to the eight floor and you have many different rooms to choose from. We first went to the right when we exited the elevator. There was a room with an aerial dancer and through that room was live music. The music was good so we watched for a while. It was pretty crowded in there too. Next, we found the room with the carousel bar. Ordered a few drinks and later went to the room with the food truck. I ordered a quesadilla from the truck. While I was eating my quesadilla, a line started to form to the nightclub. There were three separate lines and they told us to go to the front of one all the way to the right. They made us wait for a while without acknowledging us. My days of waiting to go in the club are over so I asked if they were going to let us in. The lady was actually nice and explained how crowded it was inside. She let us in and when we got in we saw no lies were told. It was so crowded!!! But it was a great atmosphere. Everyone was dancing and having a great time. They were playing good music. Right now it's the new hotspot so it's very crowded in all the rooms. I'm not a big party animal anymore so if I come back it'll probably be to check out a restaurant since I didn't get a chance to see all of them. read more

I came back to celebrate NYE again. My expectations were high because of last year. I still had a great time but was dissatisfied with a few things. The first being the rude bartender at the Golden Hour bar. I asked for a lemon drop (simple enough) and she visibly sighed. I went back and asked for a Moscow mule and she said "no you're getting this" and poured what I think was a margarita out of a pitcher?? I didn't drink it since I didn't know what it was and it's not what I wanted. With the price of admission (and just in general) you should be getting the drink that you order. I don't know if she was lazy or hated working there but it definitely showed. I saw her do the same to other people too. Another thing I was disappointed in was two of the restaurants were closed. It sucks to pay for an experience when not everything listed is included. The Latin American restaurant was closed for reservations and the sushi place was completely closed. My experience at Level 8 was nothing short of awesome! We had dinner at "Que Barbaro", i loved the ambiance, very romantic with an outdoor pool club. Dress up nice if you come. We started off with the Waygu empanadas 10/10 & ANTICUCHO DE HONGOS which are mushrooms. For dinner I had the Pollo ala brasa and my date had the NY strip MR. Both were Delicious!! For our sides we had the Papas & Humita which we loved!! Our server was super sweet, with a great sense of humor! I wish I remembered her name but she had dreads with a great smile! Everyone was very attentive and friendly! We then got escorted to Wanderlust, which was a whole other experience, with a bunch of different live performances and great drinks! Overall, I had a great experience here at Level 8. We went there on 4/6/24 on a Saturday. Lucky Mizu have a really hard working host and she was on top of her job. We got seated and our server Adam is just as good. The food there is decent but the aesthetics is beautiful!! For Mr. Wanderlust had two guys that work in front but one of the girls seems to hate her job. She keep interrupting me recording. Her approached is rude multiple times. She is some white girl with blonde hair about 5''6 and up. (See if y'all can find her lol.) The other girl was sweet. It's dark and mysterious inside Mr. Wanderlust and they have burlesque dancers at 8:30 PM but too bad we couldn't stay for that. There's a secret door to get to lucky mizu. :) We also stop by Golden Hour for a quick drink. It's cute there :)) Since there's 8 concepts and we only been to 3. We will be back. I celebrated my birthday here last Saturday and I have MIXED FEELINGS. I'll start with the good... I ultimately chose Level 8 to celebrate my bday bc I loved the concept of having a restaurant, bars, and hotel all in one place. Not having to uber around LA for a good time was a huge weight lifted. I stayed at the Moxy (connected to Level 8) which was super vibey and clean, however the rooms are rather small and the design of the restroom is odd. The restroom is not separated from the rest of the room and the sliding "doors" covering the toilet and shower are practically see through so anyone else in the room can you see and hear you handle your business lol. I guess the rooms are more for couples/singles rather than a group. I made reservations at Que Bárbaro bc I heard nothing but good things. They called and emailed me a few days prior to confirm and were able to accommodate my requests since we had a large party. I love that they stayed on top of their communication. The woman at the entrance to level 8 was so nice and patient with us. The food was amazing, the provoleta was my fave. Drinks were creative and yummy. Only thing is it is a little pricey but understandable given the setting. Friendly staff and the ambiance was great. We went to the Golden Hour bar right after which was really cute. We ended up not getting drinks bc they were pricey and you couldn't sit if you didn't pay a minimum. This was weird bc it was like 8:00 and no one was there. I think people should be able to sit before its peak hour. Now for the bad :( We went to Sinners y Santos around 10:30ish, and I'm sad to say I was disappointed bc this was supposed to be the highlight of our night. We left que barbaro to go freshen up in our room so we had to re-enter level 8 and they directed us to a different entrance and we approached a completely different vibe. Now there were 2 men at the front of velvet ropes. I overheard one man telling the group in front of us that it would be $400 for them to get in. The group understandably left the line. He then proceeded to tell us that it would be $600 for us to get in and we were a group of 11. His pricing didn't make sense. And then he said "since you all are a good looking group, I can do $500" I found that disrespectful. I then told him that I read reviews and comments online and people said there was no cover. So I asked him what does the $500 guarantee us? A table? He said it would give us access to all the places inside level 8 which is crazy bc we were just inside there roaming around for free. I then witnessed his colleague next to him letting people in for free! The man pulled the colleague close and said "you're not supposed to be letting them in for free". And out of embarrassment, he let us in for FREE as well. It felt scandalous and it felt like we were being hustled! Judging by the recent reviews it seems other people are being hustled as well. There doesn't seem to be any concrete pricing/cover for getting into Level 8 and other peoples' reviews show that they're just being forced to pay whatever the bouncer feels like charging which is similar to my experience. The music at Sinners was so disappointing! I thought it would've been high energy music like what their social media portrays but it was mainly throwback R&B (and not the good kind). They posted on their story it was I believe a house DJ coming on so who ever was opening did not fit the vibe. We were kind of early but we absolutely couldn't dance to the music being played so we left after like 20 mins After exiting the bar, luckily there was a food truck called The Brown Sheep right outside which is also part of level 8. This was a nice rescue after being letdown in the bar. Overall, Level 8 has the potential to be such a great place to hangout and the concept is so cool, but the fact that the staff is literally trying to hustle you makes it not worth it. The venue is beautifully made and so detailed but it sucks that you're literally being forced to pay an extreme amount just to get inside. I hope they figure something out with admission and make the experience more seamless. it's sad that they make it almost impossible to get inside. I don't know of any other club/bar in LA that charges hundreds of dollars for a cover. Sadly, I would not return to the bars here. It seems like things get scandalous after a certain hour. Ate at Maison Kasai for a birthday dinner and strongly recommended it for the ambience, magic card trick entertainment, great food and well made drinks. There are multiple places on the same level to visit. Danced at Golden Hour and enjoyed the aerial dancers & a live pianist at Mr. Wanderlust. I wish I could've gotten to see the luchadors in action with their wrestling moves at SinnerySantos. (My only critique was that the woman at the door with whom I asked a question to, went into default mode in trying to sell me a $600 min table for my 7 guest, with a doorman attitude. I was a little energetically throw off by her and little did she know I already inquired and requested a pdf of the bottle service price list at $450-500 min bc I was already considering it before I got there. She could've easily been sweeter and informative than trying to gate-keep the door with an aggressive attitude. Doorman! (Note:) Having worked in customer service, you find a solution, and tone delivery is everything especially when you work in an environment where people are drinking & more sensitive. (For this I deducted 1 star) Besides that I, I quantified my odds and walked away. After spending $1,300 on dinner and another $300 on drinks she could've easily advised to stand by (not for a table but a least to get in) & we prob would've ended up spending another like $300+ for like 2 hrs since I was mentally planning to leave downtown at 12:30am anyway. Long story short, our party was a little bummed at that moment bc that was part of a little surprise itinerary I made beforehand. Anywho, I danced my way back to Golden Hour and made to best of it a called an Uber a 12am to head back to the beach life. Strongly recommend, that only Tiff was the door woman toward to end of the night. She could've been more hospitable and found a way to bring $ in the door and not turn in away. I do want to highlight the hostess ladies at Maison Kasai & Mr. Wanderlust. They greeted me with the upmost kind energy to begin our night and we had an amazing time. read more

Pros - perfect for a party of 8, as the teppanyaki sat 8, but I guess if you went with a smaller group, not terrible to have sit with strangers, unless they smell or are rude. The staff are super nice and very accommodating. Cons - $65 for chicken breast, and that's the cheapest thing on the menu. Wait, I think the vegetarian option of cauliflower is $63. Something like that. I would have let it go, if the chicken breast wasn't so blah. Sorry, Level 8, but Benihana's chicken is much better and a lot less cheaper. And no comp shrimp thrown in the mouth of the fat guy drinking a piña colada or the onion volcano. All this to say, go there for a trendy place for a drink after you have dinner at Beni's. read more

During my stay at the Moxy Hotel, parking options included a $60 valet fee for In-N-Out service or neighboring parking. Garage parking without valet is $35. Its convenient location across from the expo center made it easy for any specific activities or events. The walkable surroundings added to the appeal. Hotel guests enjoy skipping lines for a quicker entrance, enhancing the lively atmosphere. Although the cocktails are pricier at $20 and up, totaling around $30-$35 with tax and tips, I felt they could be a bit stronger. Despite the average food and drinks, the place stands out for its overall experience and vibrant vibe. I plan to return for another enjoyable time with friends! I did try some of their sushi Nigri and it wasn't the best that I tried, but the location and also the ambience made up for the quality . This place is honestly such a fun and unique concept! I came here for a friend's birthday after dinner so we didn't try any food here but just wanted to experience what the overall vibe was like! They have so many different rooms and vibes going all on one floor, it literally feels like an adult Disneyland! I love all the thought put into making the place from the intricate designs of each room to the fun atmosphere of live music! Also the fact that all the doors look like other things like a hidden bookshelf or fountain but lead to a different area literally satisfies my inner child!
