What a great venue! Saw the Gorilla Biscuits / American Nightmare / Kill Your Idols / Desperate…read moreMeasures show last night in the Black Box part of the Williams Center, and it was an excellent time. I wish this venue was closer to me, I'd be there for every hardcore show they put on. For this show there was no barricade; I don't know if that varies from one show to another, but I was happy to see the lack of a barrier when we walked in. The security was just how you want them to be at this kind of show: present and there if needed, but not getting in anyone's way or preventing people from dancing or stagediving. There are two bars in the main area of the Black Box, one at the back, one on the side. And then merch was sold upstairs, and there's another bar there. Snack machines, and candy is also sold at at least one of the bars. I paid $7 for a 12 oz. can of Miller Lite or $9 for Corona, I'm not sure what size that was, 11 or 12 oz. I guess, one of those weird tall, skinny cans. The sound quality here is excellent. They had some lights going on during the bands' sets, but nothing too showy or intrusive. Really, just all around top-quality in terms of sound, stage setup, production. All the employees I encountered were very friendly. This was a pretty big crowd; I don't know if it was sold out or not, but the place was packed by the time AN went on. Sometimes staff can be unpleasant or just generally serious, handling this many people in a theater size venue, but these folks all seemed happy to have us there. I love the Black Box at Williams Center and hope to be back soon.

The venue was incredibly clean, and the lights were fun, beautiful, and truly added to the overall experience. Planning an event can be stressful, but the owner, Sal, delivered exactly what was promised with zero surprises. Sal even went above and beyond by helping me decorate on the day of the event--hands-on putting up decorations, moving boxes, and constantly checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly.During the party, Julio the manager was also incredibly attentive and lightning-fast at fulfilling all of our requests. The food was absolutely delicious, and our guests are still raving about it.I cannot thank Sal, Julio, and the team enough for making this milestone so special. Sal gave me a recommendation where to get my FABULOUS cake from Veriella's Bakery! EVERYTHING WAS THE BEST! Thank you Sal!!!

I took the NJ transit this time and it was pretty chaotic but highly preferred over a bus or having to find parking there. They adopted the system where you needed a wristband to use the train, but it wasn't a good system for the people that didn't take the train to get there (alot of people went early using other methods for merch or for VIP entry). They should have trains run earlier next time, not starting at 4-5pm. Or have a clear area to get wristbands at the end of the event - there was no clear signage for people and they were confused and blocking the people that already had wristbands and were trying to get to the trains. Metlife itself is a pretty cool stadium, I like that it has an open top because we got amazing fireworks during and at the end of the show - something that some other stadiums couldn't get! Fairly easy to find your seating, and it doesn't feel as far from the stage as some other stadiums when you're sitting in the 100s. We were also thankfully allowed to enter through any gate, instead of just the one mentioned on the ticket. The food wasn't anything spectacular and could be way better for the prices they're selling at. Chicken tenders tasted like elementary school cafeteria food and the pretzel braid was dry.

I love the colors and decor. One of the coolest touches are the vinyl album covers of the counties top music artist adorning the walls. Now getting to the menu, its small but has some tasty sounding options. If your a wing fan they have u covered. I ordered the fried Catfish with the veggie fried rice. It was perfectly seasoned and so light. Not at all greasy or heavy. For the price $35+ i would have like two pieces of Catfish but it wasnt a deal breaker. A must try is their cornbread!!! At first glance it just looks ok and cutting into it i felt it was going to be stale and hard but nooooo It was sooo good!!! U could tell it was homemade. They give u butter and homemade jam on the side. I almost ordered another!! It was that good!!! Fried fish and cornbread is the perfect combo if i know u know lol. If i could say one thing i didnt love was the fact they had no happy hour menu for afterwork crowd and no specials. That goes a long way with speciality restaurants!!! Their signature cocktails start at about $15 and up. I definitely will return to try some other items on the menu. I recommend if ur in American Dream mall for a special event at adjacent Met Life stadium or just spending a day at the mall, consider a dining experience at Marcus live bar and grill!!

The…read morevibe inside is awesome--it feels like a cool jazz club with a 70s flair, and the service was warm, welcoming, and super fast. The food was hit-or-miss, but the hits really stood out. The fried calamari was easily the best thing on the table. It was fresh, seasoned simply with salt and pepper, and cooked perfectly without a trace of rubberiness. On the flip side, the deviled eggs fell flat. Instead of the dill and hot sauce promised on the menu, they just came with crispy onions and lacked any real texture contrast. For the main sides, the crispy Cajun catfish with veggie fried rice was pretty boring--the rice was bland and the fish lacked both the crispness and Cajun flavor I was hoping for. We also got the 12-piece chicken wings. The wings were a great size, but the "everything sauce" was a strange mix of flavors that just didn't work together, while the smoked BBQ was just average. Thankfully, we added a side of mac and cheese to go with them, and it was pretty good--piping hot and had a nice cheese pull. All in all, it's a good spot with a fun atmosphere and solid service. Even with a few misses on the entrees, the calamari and mac and cheese made it a good stop after a long day.

Way in back a few families (like our party of 7) were scattered throughout the dining room. The reason we decided to brave the elements (Nor'easter, be damned!) - all the hype over New Park's mussels and pizza. So, of course we had to order a few of each. Here's the quagmire I find myself in... do I judge this place as a "real restaurant" or from the angle of a pub/tavern that happens to serve food? We weren't impressed with the mussels. The 'medium' (red sauce) was tasty but felt like it should've been used on pasta. (The mussels themselves were... not the greatest.) The pizza was solid. Tasty, a well-cooked thin-crust, not skimpy with the toppings. (But I don't think they'd be able to compete with spots like Vinnie Mootz or Razza or Kinchley's.) Oddly enough the other items we ordered scored much higher all around... the chicken-orzo soup, a banging variation of chicken murphy (that I so wish I'd ordered instead), some pasta dishes. The menu (Italian-leaning) is much larger than I expected. The waitstaff were (mostly) cool, some of them were really busting their humps. Pricing is good, portions are legit. Metered street parking - for the most part it's a rough area to get a decent spot. Personally it was a 3-star visit but they're getting a bump since it was my b-day dinner and I wasn't paying!

Our group can be a little loud and excitable at times, all in good natured fun, so we didn't disturb other patrons. The service was excellent, food the great thin crust pizza and big bowls of house salad. No complaints and a great night was enjoyed by coworkers together again after many years apart. Word of caution, street parking only. That can be tricky as the town of East Rutherford, NJ has the worst/aggressive parking control in the state.. their meters do not show, time or expiration, no coins. If you run over, they send you in the mail your fine. Careful, and enjoy the New Park Tavern.
