This review applies to the installation of a new pool filter; in general I am happy with my in-store purchases from Leslie's. But their process for selling a major component borders on incompetence. I bought a new DE filter to replace an aging canister. The new filter required a multi-port valve, so I bought one of those, too. Leslie's could not schedule installation until after these items were delivered to the job site. Perhaps that is understandable, but it introduced a week of delay. A better solution would have been for the installer to bring the new filter and valve to the job site. When the Leslie's installer arrived, he complained that the staff at the store didn't know what they were doing and should not have sold me the filter without doing a pre-site inspection, and that he did not have the parts necessary to perform the installation. Instead of ordering the parts, he gave me a handwritten piece of paper and told me I had to go back to the store and buy the parts. He left without doing any work. But (surprise!) the store did not have the parts. This is not something arcane or expensive - it's just a coupling and literally every pool in the world requires couplings to install filters, heaters, cleaners, etc. Leslie's had to order the couplings, which will have to be shipped to the job site, introducing even more delay. Why doesn't Leslie's carry these little things in inventory on the truck? Now Leslie's informs me that the order for the couplings is delayed, so in the hottest time of the year I can't get my filter upgraded and must wait (how long?) for some little PVC part to show up, then I must reschedule the installation (how long?) and wait for the installer to show up. Taken together, this experience has been something nearly opposite of "customer service." A more competent approach might be available from a more professional pool service company. If you're thinking of buying an major component that requires installation by a pool technician, my advice is to ask a lot of questions about the process and timelines before you commit your money! read more

I have been a customer here for 5 years now and I am a loyal one at that. We have a large above ground pool in Woodbridge, VA and needed our liner replaced... Guess what? Nobody does that anywhere anymore, except for a pair of brothers and one other guy who I was referred to by the folks at the Leslie Pools store near Potomac Mills Mall. They don't advertise and good luck finding them on your own - and did I mention there is nobody else who does this!!! Eric, the manager is a straight shooter - very helpful and knowledgeable - and if he can't fix it, then he can direct you on what you need to do. I trust his expertise. THIS PLACE IS YOUR ONE STOP SHOP FOR YOUR POOL NEEDS. BTW We used to use Playtime Pools, but they became horribly unreliable and it was nice to have store that you can rely on and it's a nice bonus that it's right near the mall. I highly reccomend them. We ordered a pool and ladder July 2019. This July, around the 4th, we noticed that our ladder was no longer staying together. The steps were coming off the base making us unable to use the ladder and our pool. It has been extremely hot and we have not been able to use the pool for safety reasons. We contacted customer service and have had a claim open since July 7th. We were informed that our ladder is still under warranty and all we had to do was send pictures of the ladder and the decision will be made in 3 days to send us a refund or new ladder. We have spent countless hours on the phone following up and resending emails per their request and have yet to hear anything. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service team and will be filing a complaint with corporate at the start of business tomorrow. read more

I can't believe I didn't know about this place sooner. They're very professional and respectful. Kevin is a great guy. He takes the time to make sure you're taken care of. I usually don't mention flaws of other pool shops but in this case I will because I don't want others to be treated bad the way I did. Do not go to playtime pools located on Rt1 in Woodbridge. Jackie is very rude. She's the owner of the store and does not care how she talks to people. Glad I found a pool place that cares. read more

Never ever again. I am a new pool owner and called for opening and closing. I was quoted 220. They charged me 235. Most companies charged 300 when I did my research. Now I know why they charge so less because they were in and out in less than 40 minutes. They didnt take the time to answer any questions I had. They didnt take the time to do anything but remove the tarp which they threw on the ground and just left it there instead of folding it and they turned on the pumps and left. They didnt check for any problems and when I called later I was told that they're busy and they dont have time. If they dont have time then they shouldn't take make the appointment. Waste of money and will go elsewhere this year for closing and opening. read more

My husband and I purchased a Hot Tub on 9/18/21 from the Leslie's Pool store in Woodbridge, VA, it took 5 seconds to process the transaction. We had been searching for the right one to buy and the only reason we purchased it was because we were told that we were getting the floor model at a discount (that was a lie). We were told we had to be prepared to take possession when the tent sale was over on 9/30 (another lie). Long story short, after numerous phone calls we were told that we were not getting the Hot Tub delivered until 10/17...the delivery company didn't even receive the paperwork until 10/6. We requested a full refund from Leslie's. They said they could not process it in the moment, and that "someone" was going to send me a "form" with 24-48 hours via email. This is day 4, and no form, and no call back. I what world does it take 4 days and counting to email a form?! I should not have to fight to get my money back. And to think, I gave this chain a second chance from the poor customer service I received in the Manassas store. I was told that the Woodbridge store was better...apparently not. read more

Customer service is by far the worst!!! I purchased a whole pool package ladder and all last year. This year we noticed our ladder falling apart. I call 1-800-Leslies on July 7 and explained what was happening with the ladder, they said it was under warranty all I had to do was send pictures and 3-5 business days I would have an answer. WELLLLL guess what I am still waiting, I have never in my life dealt with such a backward bunch of people. This company should be ashamed of how they do business. The retail store employees were wonderful to us upon purchasing our pool package. However i would never do business with this company again. I want the issue with this defective ladder rectified it is under warranty I paid good money for it. It's been over a month pool season is almost over when the hell am I getting another ladder December? I will continue to call every day as usual read more

I can say enough things about this place. I had stopped in a couple of weeks ago to inquire about a new pool cover and Ted, one of the associates there was extremely helpful and walked me through the process. I came in today with pool cover in hand and Kevin the store manager was fantastic. He told me about the new Store app that can be downloaded and answered questions to include everything from salt chlorinators to resurfacing a pool deck. We have a pool that was installed last season. I started going to Leslie's as soon as we were up and running and I could not be happier. Kevin and his team have been so helpful. They have taken the time to explain pool chemistry and maintenance to me. It was very daunting to be a new pool owner but they took the mystery out of it and helped us understand exactly how to maintain our pool which remains absolutely beautiful. They have everything we need for maintenance and I never feel like they are trying to sell me anything I don't need. They keep a record of my weekly tests in case I should ever need them for warranty purposes and I come away each week understanding a little bit more about how my pool works and what we need to do to keep it looking amazing. Kevin is great - he really cares about getting it right and he does such a good job of training the rest of the staff. Highly recommend this place. read more

New workers here and they are unknowledgable in the products. Also, came in here for scum balls and they were all out! When asked when it would come in, they simply acted like they were busy w other things and couldn't even answer my question. I drove during my lunch break and couldn't get what I needed and on top of that wasn't even given an answer as to when the item would be available. Will not be coming to this location anymore and will have to buy my things via Amazon. read more

Many years ago, getting knowledgeable customer service at the Leslie's store in my area (Maryland) was hit or miss. I generally bought most of my pool and hot tub supplies online. I had an entirely different experience at the Woodbridge store. I don't live in Woodbridge, but I pass through often. A few weeks ago I stopped in to the Potomac Mills store with a technical question about pool filtration. I was immediately helped by a staff member named Kevin. I think he's the manager, but I'm not sure. I assumed that I would have to go into details about my specific system and educate him a bit when it came to what I needed...at least that's been my experience at places like Leslie's, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. However I was impressed at Kevin's vast knowledge in everything pool related. Not just products, but how filtration systems work, how chemicals interact, etc. It turns out that he knows as much about my hot tub as he does my pool! Leslie's prices are good and although you can get slightly better deals on supplies online, you don't get the knowledgeable advice that you do at this Leslie's store. It's well worth a few extra bucks. From now on I'll be going to Leslie's when I'm in Woodbridge. read more
