As a first time pool owner I occasionally find my pool isn't behaving according to my understanding of the rules. Maybe that's why I switched my major from Chem E to Mech E in '78? So spoke with the guy at Texsun, followed his instructions; and next test: perfect pool!

Every visit, I buy everything they say I need. Each visit usually comes to $50 to $150 and I never complain or question them. In that time I've also made larger purchases around $1000 for additional equipment like a new Polaris, a new motor for one of my pumps, new housings/fittings/etc. All together is probably safe to say I've spent between $5k and $10k dollars there. So today I replaced the 5th piece that's failed on my Polaris I bought from them. I'm a little annoyed by that b/c it cost $1000 and I feel like being 2 years old, that's just a bit ridiculous. I've also had parts sold to me at a discount because "they were opened by accident" only to find that parts where missing and I was denied a refund... but in general, I was just a little annoyed about the Polaris failures. I went into the store to get my water checked just now. The one manager (female, young, didn't catch her name) was helping some other people and a young guy took my water. I casually mentioned how I've just replaced the 4th or 5th piece on that (I think i said $1400, but it's actually $1000... no matter) Polaris, and how crazy that seems. I didn't say it aggressively. I just sorta mentioned it while the guy was testing my water. Anyway, the girl was not having it. She was sure I only paid $800 (as if that makes it somehow ok) and insisted on trying to argue about it in front of the whole store, even going so far as to stop helping customers and go print my old receipt. Okay, so it ended up being $1000 and not $1400. Still... my point was that it's not a great product if I have to spend $300 over the next 2 years repairing it (and thats just parts. if i paid labor for someone else to do it, who knows how much it would be). As I left, she came storming out of the store and began to berate me and my wife for our unacceptable behavior. I remained totally calm. Her voice shook and her eyes became bloodshot as her blood pressure elevated and she assured me of how she was an excellent manager and she just wasn't having that in her store. I calmly told her that I would have no problem apologizing if I made her feel disrespected, and I even did apologize. I then told her that perhaps a better manager might approach a long time customer with a different tact and the benefit of the doubt before talking down to us like we are children. None the less, she assured me she wasn't going to put up with my behavior (i guess of expecting value out of a product and just idly mentioning it calmly in conversation) before exclaiming "That's just the way it is!" and walking off. I'm now looking for somewhere else. Go here if you want, I wouldn't.

A Pool Experience That Stands the Test of Time…read more Selecting a pool company can be daunting, but choosing Pulliam Pools Houston was one of the best decisions we've made. Their long-standing history--founded in 1918--and their friendly, knowledgeable staff gave us the confidence we needed. Construction on our pool began on July 30, 2019, and just 30 days later, it was fully completed, including the deck. We've been enjoying it ever since! The quality and craftsmanship were outstanding from day one. Even more impressive is their ongoing support. Over the past six years, Pulliam has consistently provided excellent service, whether for rare warranty issues or minor post-warranty repairs. They've always responded quickly and professionally. Everyone we've worked with has been wonderful, but we'd like to give a special shoutout to Robert and Sean--thank you for making the experience smooth and enjoyable. We are so glad we chose Pulliam Pools! The Smith's, Richmond, TX

Pulliam presented me with a design that completely displayed the backyard oasis I had been imagining. From design, to permitting with my HOA, building on an extended patio with a wet bar and vaulted tongue and groove ceiling, the dig, the gunite, plaster, filter, heater/chiller, adding lights and ceiling fans, tile, coping, water features, decking, updating the existing patio, outdoor kitchen, swapping out existing windows in my house with French doors and even last minute changes that just happen when a woman is involved....Ha ha! The communication was impeccable. Even with weather delays they finished earlier than I expected and almost to the day of the quoted lead time. The craftsmanship and quality execution by their crews is fantastic. Robert basically held my hand every step of the way. Shawn, the owner, made it very clear that my satisfaction was paramount. The entire team went above and beyond to make the process as seamless as possible. I am so glad that I selected Pulliam Pools. I would do it all over again with this team.

That might have been the end of the review but they have proven to be an outstanding provider. Eric (one of the proprietors), is very responsive and overall, just a great guy. Recently, I noticed a small leak in our Rollo injector that was squirting onto the grass. The leak was pure chorine and there was a significant dead patch of grass. I sent Eric a text (I believe it was on a weekend) to which he immediately responded, he came out the very next day which was also on the weekend. He found the leak and sent one of his guys out to fix it. Now that would be amazing in and of itself but there's more. He sent a man out from a landscape company to dig out the contaminated soil and re-sod the area where the dead grass was. This level of customer service blows me away. Blue Cube is the real deal, there was no begging and cajoling to do the right thing. They just did it and it was their idea. As for the price, I am amazed they can be so competitive. They are careful about what they take on because they want to be able to provide the best customer service so they have chosen grow their their business responsibly, while some pool services just take on as many pools as they get calls for, Blue Cube limits the clientele to a number that they can manage. I waited to do this review because I wanted to be sure they were the real deal. We are coming up on one year and I am very pleased. If you need pool service, get your name on their waiting list and say your prayers. If you are lucky, you will be pleasantly surprised.

A couple of months in, my pool heater started shutting off after just 7-8 minutes of runtime without ever reaching the set temperature. That's when I met Mike. He could have easily taken advantage of me as a new owner and recommended an expensive part, but instead, he fixed it perfectly just by cleaning the inside. It's been working flawlessly ever since. Recently, I hired them for full-time pool service, and the care and attention to detail they put into every visit far exceed my expectations. I've only ever dealt with Mike and Sam--the trust I've built with them and the consistently perfect work they've done mean I have no interest in trying any other company. While I've worked with two other pool companies in the past, I found their service and cleaning results to be somewhat mediocre, which is why I'll be staying with PoolWerx.

Backyard Innovations

Backyard Innovations

**Beware of long review on why not to hirer Backyard Innovation**…read moreOn 12/20/2020 I signed a pool construction contract with Backyard Innovation Pool Company owned by Kris and Christy Macri. What I thought would be exciting 2-3 month constructions project became an expensive year long nightmare. During the first week in March they had the gas, internet and electric companies come out to survey my backyard and mark the location of lines. Excavation commenced on April 3, 2021 but was halted same day because Kris and Christy failed to properly locate the electrical line prior to excavation and a line was almost damaged by the digging. This was red flag number one. Excavation was completed on April 20, 2021 after having line re-routed. Then for the next 8 months there were multiple delays, excuses and request for more money above the contract price. Red flag number two came during the months of late April through August 2021. During May we possibly had above seasonal rain fall which delayed progress but my problem with Kris and Christy was how they prepared and managed for it. They did not properly cover the site nor continually pump out the water to keep the area dry. It led to a cave-in where the electric line was re-routed and left the re-routed line exposed. They didn't actually come out until I sent a video of frogs using my cave-in mud pond as their singing grounds throughout the night. Afterwards they came out to evaluate the dig site and pump out the water. Not much happen after this point except mid-June I met with the Kris and Christy to discuss the lack of progress and my concern for the integrity of my pool. At this point they stated it would cost me additional $12,000 to fix the cave-in but they were willing to pay half. I agreed to this because I just wanted my electric line protected, the contract did not address this explicitly and I wanted to expedite this process. They boarded up the side wall of the pool about a week later, but minimal work was done on my pool for the next month in half. I sent multiple text to Kris and Christy about the lack of work on the steel frame and plumbing. I got multiple excuses on why no crew was working on my project. Also complained that the recently fixed cave-in seemed to be worsening again along with what little steel and plumbing work that was done was now floating in water from rain. Again excuses. I was told things would move more smoothly once the gunite was poured. Red flag number three occurred on August 20, 2021 when they started pouring the gunite. What should have been an one day task turn into a 12 day project. It led to gunite on my patio roof and the end protect was poorly done with uneven walls (see pic). Red flag number four, during the September and October not much progress occurred but got multiple excuses. Though they requested more money, stating the cost of the tile and decking material had gone up due to COVID. Also they inform me, my pool equipment/pumps were still on backordered. At this time, I asked why my material and equipment hadn't already been ordered at the time I signed my contract and selected my material back in December 2020 and January 2021 which should have locked in the prices. You guess correctly more excuses and blame placed on COVID. Like an idiot, I agreed to the price increase in material because I just wanted this to be over. Mid November they started tiling my pool. I was told they would complete tiling, the plumbing (without the equipment) and electrical portion over the next week. Of course, this did not happen. Final red flag, it took 2 weeks to complete the tile. The plumbing was completed a couple days before Christmas which left by backyard and front yard a mess and the electric portion was never completed. I sent a text to Chris and Christy stating how my front and backyard was left. For a couple days I received no replies but then receive a text on December 17 from Kris that all of his crews are off till the 2nd week in January and he would have the cleanup done in the 2nd week in January. I replied it wasn't acceptable but never received a reply. I decided not to let this ruin my first Christmas with my family since the COVID pandemic and will deal with it after Christmas. The next time I got reply from Kris and Christy wasn't until January 12, 2022 after sending two text for updates after the New Year. Surprise, again they asked for more money to complete my pool. It would have been a 32.9% mark up from the contract stated price. I would like to point out the fact that on my same street another house had started building a pool in earlier November 2021 and completed it by Christmas. At this time, I reach my endpoint. I decided to fire them and involve a lawyer. A little late I know. It took me a while to find a company willing to take over the project for liability reasons. Luckily a pool renovation company was willing to take over my pool project and started work mid-March 2022. Since then, they have found

**Buyer Beware** Kris Macri and his team at Backyard Innovations built a swimming pool at my house…read morein Richmond, Texas. The project started in late 2020 and completed memorial day weekend. I never had any issues contacting Kris during the building process. Once the pool was completed, we noticed that the pool deck was cracking and there was a large discrepancy in the plaster color/shading (within 1 day of pouring plaster). We notified Kris and he said he would take care of it in the "off" season when we weren't using the pool as often to swim. He told me he would drain the pool, acid wash the plaster and then re-fill the pool in hopes this would correct the discoloration in the plaster. He was also supposed to send his crew back out to repair the areas where the deck was cracking. I have been trying to schedule a follow up with Kris since the beginning of October and he has only replied once (10/18) telling me was going to check with the plaster crew. I have followed up with calls and text messages weekly since then and never got any reply since October 18th. Per his contract the plaster and decking are covered under his warranty so the fact that he is not communicating with me is very frustrating.
