On top of that, they tried to pressure me into getting new X-rays even though my previous X-rays were taken less than six months ago. When I questioned the need for additional X-rays, they continued pushing for them and ultimately refused to perform my scheduled teeth cleaning because I declined. Another concern is the constant staff turnover. Over the years, I've had three different hygienists, which makes the office feel very inconsistent and unorganized. The hygienist did a great job! Mouth and tooth pain can be the worst kind of pain. I just had several cavities filled in one session and it was the best experience I've ever had. I always have a lot of jaw pain during dental procedures and Dr. McDonald was considerate and caring the entire time, which meant a lot. The entire team is very friendly, prompt, and eager to assist. To be honest, at this point, it's like seeing an extended family every 6 months... Dr. Burch and his team offer a family-friendly environment and approach, meaning this isn't the dentist or team that you see once and never return. They, like me, are relationship builders. Investing in a dentist, much like a family-care practitioner, is all too overlooked in this day-and-age, and I appreciate that they call me when I've overlooked my 6 month visit, or take the time to send me a card to wish me a happy birthday. A week earlier they confirmed my kids' insurance was…read moreaccepted, but the day before the appointment they told me it wouldn't be covered and that a "second opinion" would cost $195 per child. I've already been to two other pediatric dentists and never once was I charged for a second opinion -- so clearly this office is out of line. When I tried to reschedule, they insisted on a $150 "no-show" fee, even though they called me less than 24 hours before. This feels like a money trap, and I'm prepared to involve my lawyer. I will be taking necessary actions and reporting this office to the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners and the Texas Attorney General's Office - Consumer Protection Division. If any of you have gone through the same thing, please do the same so this practice is held accountable.
