He didn't give me a hard time about my car being dirty or having sat unused for a while. He asked about the battery - if it had been dead that morning, the tests wouldn't be accurate. But mine was okay. Smog took maybe 15 min. The throw bird seed out on the driveway and it was pleasing to watch the flock of blackbirds coming and going while I waited. Car passed no problems.
